Chesterbrook Academy - Newtown Square has been the worst childcare experience of my 13 years as a mom. In our experience, the environment was cold, harsh, and deeply unsettling. When children are sad or crying, they are placed in a so-called "cuddle corner" and intentionally ignored--no one is allowed to speak to or comfort them until they stop crying. Teachers follow a strict "no response" approach, meaning kids who are screaming, throwing, or clearly distressed are simply ignored. The level of rudeness, judgment, and lack of warmth from staff has honestly left me bewildered. My child came home crying many days, saying the teachers yelled at them--and I personally witnessed teachers yelling at children right in front of me. Leaving your child in someone else's care is already incredibly hard. You expect compassion, patience, and basic emotional safety. That was not our experience here. I can't speak to other Chesterbrook locations, but Chesterbrook Academy in Newtown Square is one I would strongly urge parents to avoid. If sharing this helps even one child have a safer, more loving experience elsewhere, it's worth it

I cannot stress enough how wonderful the Malvern location is now, and it's due to Steve and Barbara's leadership.

We sought a better opportunity enrich our sons lives at this critical stage with experiences and learning opportunities at a place that felt more structured, safe, clean, and genuinely had the best interest of the children/students in everything they did. Jennifer (the owner) is involved, detail oriented, attentive and communicative. The teachers and staff are friendly, present, and clearly care. The use of email and general technology (e.g. Tadpole) to amplify the communication is effective and keeps things transparent. The activities and interactions our son has had in just the first few weeks have opened up new windows for his curiosity and intellect. The shift in our older son's demeanor was immediately evident. My son is currently finishing up his second year at His Kids Christian Preschool, and I cannot say…read moreenough great things about his teachers, their program, and their Director. After taking a tour, I knew this was the place for us. Our son needed a place to work on his social and emotional skills. I loved that his teacher Marianne Williams made us feel at ease right away. She asked us what our goals were for our son for that year and I was very honest with her that I wasn't too concerned with the academic part (although they do an AMAZING job with that!) I was more concerned with him trying new things/experiences, coming out of his shell, and being able to make handprint art. He refused to do handprint art for me at home which sounds silly but that was a real goal for us! Mrs. Williams had our son making handprint art within the first month of starting school! I loved that she met each child in her class where they were and worked on their individual goals to help them achieve their best self while also teaching an amazing curriculum. She really helped our son become more confident with himself and try new things. We loved seeing how much he progressed throughout his first year. We requested Mrs. Williams for his second year there because I'm pretty sure our son would have refused to go to school if he didn't have her as his teacher again! We were very lucky that she teaches both a T/TH Preschool class and a M/W/F Pre-Kindergarten class so that he could have her two years in a row. Her Assistant Sue Capaldi goes above and beyond to make the classroom a fun and exciting place to learn. They really make every second they spend with the children count. My son will be going to Transitional Kindergarten at His Kids next year and I'm so thankful we have another year with them because he asked the other day if he could go to His Kids until he was 100 years old. Once you meet the Director Nicole Lewis you'll realize pretty quickly how amazing she is! She has made His Kids her life's work and it shows. She is truly dedicated to this school. Mrs. Lewis greets all of the students by name and even makes it a point to learn all of their siblings names so she can say hello to them too during pick up and drop off. She really makes the preschool feel like a family. She does a lot of little fun things to make the experience magical for your kids like having a special gift on their birthdays and constantly changing the hallway and front window with seasonal/holiday decorations of your child's picture and name which they love finding. All of that takes so much time but you can tell she does it for the joy of the kids. If you are looking for the best preschool in the area then look no further. We have been incredibly blessed to be a part of the His Kids Family and have just loved his teachers and everyone who has looked after our son. We cannot wait for our youngest son to attend next year alongside his big brother!

They disregard the current development of a child..they were more concerned with the readiness in January while kindergarten didn't start until 8 months later..the appproach of the 5k staff was much like a cookie cutter mold..if your child didn't fit the mold, his or her self esteem was secondary!!!! They even send 5 year olds to the office if they don't comply...Absolutely crushing...The teachers are type A personality at that level and really shouldn't be there.

Prior to coming to Walden, my son attended K-1st grade at a school that just wasn't up to par academically & where we felt our son got lost in the shuffle. Here, everyone knows him by name, makes an effort to know us as parents and really digs deep to understand how they can best help each individual child. I especially love that the way they teach isn't just by lecture, sitting at a desk staring at a chalkboard, but through hands-on projects, exploration & using sensory and tactile items to accommodate different learning styles.

I was told directly by the enrollment office " Kathy" that the school "can't survive" by offering financial aid, which was very discouraging. After applying for financial aid, I never received a formal decision, even though I was told it had been mailed. Instead, I received a random refund amount with no explanation. Throughout the process, the enrollment officer frequently changed her statements and would not acknowledge the inconsistencies. To be clear: I believe the school itself is strong, and the teachers seem genuinely dedicated and hardworking. But the enrollment process, especially my experience with the enrollment officer, was disorganized and unprofessional. If you choose to apply, I strongly recommend documenting everything and keeping all communication in writing.
