Wow, what a Memory!! I lived in the inner city, and the School was able to find funding so that my brother and I could go away for 2 weeks. We were given a list of what was needed and what was not allowed. I remember we took the Ell ( for free because I would run errands for the ticket taker and she let us on in exchange for free errands) to 30th street station and buses would line up and off we went. I was maybe7 - 9 I was scared to death. then Aunt Connie assured Me " You'll have fun!! Just wait and see" well this became to norm as I loved it. I stayed in Meadowlark, Skyview and my brother was in Weitzel, on top of the hill. Aunt Connie was the best and I loved Aunt Margo. there were several kids that lived in my area , Anna Marie Bartha and Barbara Weigand, I remember them so well. when we came home we stayed in touch and would often go to one or the others for the weekend. My memories include Arts & Crafts, berry picking when we we going to make breakfast. going down the hill to swim in the pool( I hit Shark level, walking down the creek, short sheeting the counselor with corn flakes, rushing to the flag pole and hoping to be 1st inline to ring the bell, and we even had a Goat. Indian raid put on by the boys camp, having a campfire and ghost stories at the craft cabin I remember having Christmas in July and since I had lost my sneakers in the creek while walking in mud I received a pair of sky blue corduroy sneakers and they were awesome. fast forward to when I was 24 my daughter was old enough to go and then after 3 years my son was able to go. I raised my Grand daughter and when she turned 7 she spent her 1st year at Skyview. I now have 4 Great grand kids and except that 2 are out of state, I have a 3 and a 4 yr old that's going as soon as they are old enough. I will post a pic, since I think I ran out of space.
