I was greeted by Mary Beth Mungnier. I described to her the tee shirt design. Within 24hrs, she sent me the most beautiful sample design. She told me, I'm trying hard to get this to you by his birthday. I let her know anything she could do would be greatly appreciated. The next day, Mary Beth let me know she could get me the customized tee shirt on my son's birthday but in a different color. The news was music to my ears. Later that afternoon, I arrived at Grin and Wear It to pick up my son's special present. When Mary Beth showed me the tee, I began to cry. In that moment, I realized how grateful I was to be celebrating my son's 16th birthday. He is a cancer survivor! I'm thankful everything worked out positively for my son and family. Mary Beth asked me why I was crying. I shared my son's cancer diagnosis and journey to survivorship with her. Mary Beth began to cry as well. She listened to me as I explained my feelings of gratitude. In that moment, Mary Beth made a decision to give me the tee shirt as a gift of life for my son. Bob Shaw's Signs is difficult to find. It is actually in the alley behind 54 E. State Street in…read moreDoylestown. It has a small parking area that is often full or blocked by deliveries to one of the few shops hiding back there. Best to park nearby and go in on foot. The shop is tiny and full of signs, materials and equipment. You know you are in a old space of a craftsman who does not have time to create a comfortable environment for his customers. If you want quality signs at affordable prices you can put up with the cacophonic space, because Mr. Shaw is a pleasant fellow who has been at sign making for a long time. BSS was recommended to me by my office landlord (and friend) when I moved in on South State Street, Newtown. We were putting up a new free standing sign panel in front of the building and he preferred all the tenants have the same design standards for their shingle. We needed 2 signs each - one for each side of the panel; black and white; professionally produced. I called, and Mr. Shaw remembered the signs he had previous made for this building. $25 for the two signs. Nice! The next week I was in Doylestown, found the shop and picked up the signs. Six years later they still look great out front. No discoloration, no chipping, peeling nor fading. Practically no maintenance other than an occasional hosing and wipe down to deal with dust and spider webs. It just doesn't get any better than that. 10.1.2016 UPDATE - The actual operation takes place on the floor below, where there are several thousand square feet of work space.
