Unfortunately, I had a negative experience. I do not recommend, especially if you are a bride. I called ahead to confirm if she accepted walk-ins for a consultation on altering my wedding dress, and to get a price estimate. She assured me that walk-ins were welcome. However, when I came in the next day, she never informed me in advance that her consultation would cost $20. From the moment I walked in, I noticed her rudeness, though I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt since she's an old woman. She did not offer guidance on how to adjust the dress to fit my body properly--aside from simply pinning the bottom to shorten the length. During the fitting she handled me roughly, repositioning me abruptly, and speaking in a sharp, impatient tone. When I asked her reasonable questions about the alterations, she appeared irritated and often dismissed them with 'I don't know' rather than offering helpful guidance. After I tried on the dress, she took out a receipt, writing down my name and number, as though expecting me to commit right then. I felt overwhelmed and uneasy, but I gave my information and left. That was my mistake. Within minutes, my gut told me it wasn't right. I turned around, went back inside, and said 'I don't want to alter my dress anymore'. She stared at me sharply, pointed at me, and said 'You owe me $20' while raising her voice since the beginning. I asked why I owed her anything since no work was done, she yelled it was for her time, insisting her time wasn't free. I told her I did not have cash on me. She got my dress, demanded $20 again, and said she would keep my dress until I payed. She grew louder throughout, while I remained calm and never raised my voice. After going back and forth, and me clearly stating I was not leaving without my dress, she grabbed it, bunched it up in her arms, and threw it onto the counter at me, yelling, 'Aqui esta tu pinche vestido' (Here is your 'F***ng dress' in Spanish). I picked up my dress, looked at her, said 'thank you', and walked out. I left feeling disrespected and upset. To any brides and women considering alterations, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere to avoid this kind of treatment. read more

I have went a few times now, she is very helpful and explains everything. And she sometimes, depends how busy she is ,she has gotten some of my items done early. And she does let you know she only accepts cash before and after the altercation. read more

I've used Celina several times for alterations to suits, dresses and formal gowns. She has always done great work. She is also very prompt and she was very accommodating when I had needed a rush job. I needed a rush job during her busy winter formal season. She made it work for me. Even when I switched dresses. I have never experienced rudeness from her. I would recommend her business. read more

I needed some pockets sewn in a pair of sweat pants that had no pockets. The lady denied my business cause she said she only does small jobs. I told her how hard is it to cut a line on each side and sew in some pockets that were already pre-made for her. She started to be rude. I just left. What an Idiot!!!! We bought a $200 dress for our daughter's graduation that was was a little too small and the online site did not offer refunds. So we brought it to CELINA'S ALTERATIONS to have the sides let out. Upon picking it up we noticed that the beading on the top off the dress was loose and falling off! And, some spots, they tried to sew some back on and it looked like a novice had attempted to do the job. When my daughter put the dress on, the day of her graduation, she showed us 3 holes in the tool of the dress around the thigh area. We went to the shop to confront Celina where we noticed a dog running around in the shop which may have been the cause of the small holes. Upon attempting to explain the situation she instantly became angry and and loud using profanity as if we were lying. She stated, "The dress was fine when you came to pick it up! Your daughter was the one who damaged it the dressing room then!" She was not willing to hear us or try to have a civil conversation. Unbelievable! I recommend to anyone and everyone to never bring your clothing here!!! She only accepts cash...and now I know why!!! If I could give zero stars I would but yelp will not let me. From the moment we walked in this seamstress was extremely rude to us. She was making issues about the time she needed to take care of the dresses which were prom dresses she made issues that we didn't have shoes. In reality we didn't need shoes especially since we were going to be using flats. I didn't see the need to explain that to her especially when I had two dresses that need to be done and what we really wanted was her just to measure the girls out and just do it so they weren't dragging on the floor. But apparently she wasn't hard up for work. Or maybe not skilled enough.. Then she tries to quote us a ridiculous price which was way under bid for this kind of job and at that point I could tell that she wasn't taking any of it seriously and she had no interest in helping me. Rolling her eyes ect.... I can't imagine her having that much work, especially now judging by the reviews I'm reading. I don't understand how she gets anybody to use her because she's a horrible person and she needs to do another job because apparently she is not happy with what she's doing. I can't imagine many people going to her . She's ridiculous another Merced owned business that needs to be out of business! Good luck lady! And good luck to those that decide to use her! Both my husband and I have brought in different types of clothing for alterations. Celina is does a great job in a timely manner!

I brought in a pair of jeans to be shortened, and they fit perfectly now. The cost was $12, plus an extra $5 for a rush request; the turn-around time would have been four business days if not for the rush request. I was treated awful. She charged me more money to do the same job on the same outfit that she did a couple months ago. She was very hostile when I asked for a receipt. I brought my daughter's wedding dress to be hemmed, and it was a month before the wedding, I knew we were cutting it close, time wise. Celina was very nice and helpful, and even suggested taking it in a bit to flatter my daughter's frame better. The dress was ready 1 week sooner than expected, and when we picked it up, she tried it on and it was perfect! I am so glad she suggested taking it in, and my daughter is beyond happy with how beautifully the dress fits now. She was very polite, helpful and friendly throughout the whole process, I cannot thank her enough for ensuring my daughter's wedding dress would be perfect for her special day! read more

My experience here was awful! She's not very polite and doesn't know how to treat her customers! I brought in my dress that was so too big on me. When I picked it up I decided to try it on and it fit horrible! The top was too big. She was rude about it and said I didn't ask her to tailor that part. what!? I don't think that was a good excuse! Why wouldn't I want the top tailored? When she pinned it down it looked like the out come was going to be great but it wasn't! She also stated the spaghetti straps were to low and told my husband I want to show everything. I'm young.. and thin (don't have much to show up top). That comment was very rude and disrespectful! She wanted my dress to go up higher than what it was supposed to. She said she can fix it for me again or I was not welcomed back! but after her rude comment and bad customer service I didn't want her touching my dress anymore! I'm very disappointed! I spent a lot of money on my dress. I don't recommend this place to anyone. She also has her dogs running around I just thought maybe she's lonely. I read another review saying their dress had holes and they think the dogs did it. Maybe she shouldn't bring her dogs to work. read more
