This is a large store with a lot to offer commuters. We were here a couple times. No complaints. The cell phone reception is sparse this far north, makes it hard to Yelp. They not only sell hunting/fishing licenses but they also have the normal convenience store stuff like lottery and ice to name a few. Not too much to say about these guys. It did seem like the largest store in the area. If you head up to Big Bog, you will most likely see this place.

I flew into International Falls to rent a car and visit a friend up in Thunder Bay. My first stop was the Border Bob tourist trap to exchange some USD for some Canuck currency, but they failed me and pointed me in this direction. The old guy that runs this place is one of the most interesting individuals I've run across. For about 45 minutes I stood there and talked to this guy about his prior camping trips to Atikokan, and his encounters with the wildlife in the area. The guy busted out some old photographs of moose he'd run into on a canoe trip some five-ten-fifteen-who knows? years ago. This man is one of the friendliest people I've run across in my travels. If you happen to be in the area, stop in and say hi. (Bring cash though, because he apparently uses a fairly unreliable credit card processor.)

Came to Simonsons tonight to put gas in and cash a lottery ticket. My friend went inside for me…read morebecause I'm handicap. He comes outside to tell me my ticket was only $5. I checked it, triple checked it, even had my family look at it to confirm. $100 ticket. I went inside to dispute it because we checked it. They grabbed the ticket to show me and I showed the guy how I won the $100. He said, I don't how these are played all i can say is we scan them and this little ticket comes out. I asked him to scan it again but said if he did then it would just come back as already scanned. I was bummed, but oh well. I guess that chick needed the money more than me.
