Worst service ever! I dropped off my Tivoli 1 radio about six weeks ago. He said it would take a week or so to repair. After a few weeks, I called, and continued to check in once a week for about three weeks. He kept saying he was waiting for a part. Finally, today, I called and he kept hanging up on me. I eventually got through and retrieved my radio, unrepaired. What a complete hassle and waste of time! Do not go here. read more

Terrible business they never pick up the phone and their answering machine is always full. They never show up for appointments even when I give them full control over what time to come. Completely unprofessional and they didn't even fix my stuff just returned it to me broken and demanded $500. This place is an absolute joke. read more

Bau does great work and at reasonable prices. You might have issues with their timeliness and communication, but you just need to be patient, and your gear will get repaired. It's my go-to place for repairing my high-end audio gear. I trust these guys will do the right thing and not charge me an arm and a leg. (Incidentally, there is also a place called Speaker Mart in Vanier that does a great repairing old speaker systems.) read more

The downside to electronics nowadays is that things don't last as long as they used to (you can even say they are made to not last forever so that people keep on upgrading their equipment). On top of that, the number of places that can actually service your electronics are very few. Thankfully I found one place at least in Ottawa that seems to be able to repair devices if they break down. I had a Paradigm speaker that needed repairing and Centek fixed it for $35. That saved me a couple of hundred dollars buying a new speaker set. Repair time I think was one week (which seems to be their standard repair time). In talking to the owner he said they only work on higher end equipment and from the amount of pieces they have in their shop waiting to be picked up, it looks like they are pretty popular. The location is a bit hard to find as it is located in building 'C'. And note that they don't take credit cards so cash only! --- I was happy with the work they did on my speaker and if something were to break down, I'd definitely use them again. read more

Where do I start, and please read the whole thing it's worth the money. My Denon receiver broke last spring so I brought it to Centek. Onced fixed and quickly to my surprise 3 days, I got it going but something wasn't working right, my TT worked great for the first day than nothing, so I thought it was my TT equipment, didn't think to much of it until I got the receiver all hooked up properly 6 weeks ago. YEsss ! I sit down ready to watch a movie and than the same problem occur. Stops completely and cant turn it back on. At least there shotty work was backed by their warranty so I brought it back. A week later I called to see how things were going since I hadn't heard back. I was told that he didn't know it was a "rush". WOW I'd hate to know what a rush is. Another week and half later I call to know how things were going, I got a weird reason and said he would call me back. Heard nothing ... Long story short , a month later I pick it up. I noticed right away that one of my speaker connectors was damaged. Than I look under the system when putting it in the car and he ripped a piece from the bottom off to cut corners. At this point I'm fed up so I bring it home and cant wait to plug it in, while setting it up I hear a weird white noise coming from my speakers, I own expensive Bowers and Wilkins I told myself maybe a bad connection between my equipment, but I'll take a look after full setup. Not even half hour of watching TV through my system the whole thing goes bonkers. Static, White noise, the whole nine yards it was unusable. So I turn it off and guess what it cant turn on again. Same problem all over again. I have the impression they are only able to restore and fix vintage equipment and not the new technology, stay away with your new equipment I cant recommend this place. I phoned Centek electronics last Saturday (May 25th, 2019) hoping to speak to someone since their schedule indicates they're supposedly open Saturdays from 10am till 2pm. I left a voicemail inquiring about a repair needed to my Akai reel to reel tape deck. I was told by a stereo store that Centek was the best and was hoping to get some sort of reply when I called them. I then thought well, it is Saturday. Maybe the team needed the full weekend off. No problem, I'll call Monday. Monday comes. I tried calling several times and it goes to voicemail and Centek didnt even return my call. I'm guessing they're not hurting for business. It's too bad because their website seemed convincing. There should be some sort of post on their site indicating that they cant take any more repair requests and perhaps indicate that in their outgoing message on their voicemail. I attempted to see past the less than average reviews that were posted and went against the odds in trying them. But seeing as how they wont even bother picking up their phone I'm sorta glad my machine is not in their possession. God only knows what would have happened if I brought it over first and then call several days later. It's sad considering it's close to where I live. It would have been very convenient but I guess it's worth it to travel the distance to another shop that not only services hifi gear well but also......and I never thought I'd emphasize this but that oh I dunno PICK UP THEIR PHONE DURING BUSINESS HOURS. But as I said, maybe business means nothing to them. I'll gladly go elsewhere and so should anyone in need of stereo repair. Refoamed 2 x 10" woofers, for my Boston A150 speakers. The foam degrades over time and needs to be replaced. So I checked around and went with Centec Electronics again. Other shops wanted at least three times the cost for the foam replacements. Does some consignments, that's how I purchased my Quad 405 Amplifier, 100 watts per channel, JBL 62 speakers, JVC XL-M407 6 disc magazine changer CD player and repaired my Dual CS 515 Phonograph (cartridge) along with my Nad 304 amplifier which I now use as a preamp along with my acquired Quad 405 amplifier. Easy to deal with and very good prices. Knowledgeable service, Free estimates and friendly. Dealt with same in the past many times and still rate this as an A+ repair shop. Doesn't fix TV's any longer but will give alternative repair shops. First dealing was about 10 years ago with my Harmon Kardon CD 491 cassette player, drive belt slippage. Check it out and I don't think you'll find better in Ottawa and area. I'm very satisfied with my experiences and highly recommend this repair shop. Boa is the owner and main tech. If Boa can't fix it you've got a real problem. Payment is CAD credit, debit and cash. read more
