Despite clearly stating my questions and expectations in the initial consultation, individually enumerating them in writing several times, questions were never answered nor tasks ever performed. I often felt as though I was explaining my situation for the first time with him as he would forget/ignore what he was hired to do, or even contradict himself over what little financial planning advice I could extract out of him the previous time. Patience and gentle reminders to address the ignored tasks and emails proved ineffective, and he would inexplicably behave as if he had completed his work without having even started on most of the things I came to see him for. His retainer was exhausted with him doing, as far as I could tell, very nearly zero work. A later mailed invoice listing what was "done" would later bear this out. It seems he counts burning up nearly 2 hours of billed time just to print out a power-of-attorney as a "completed task". A power-of-attorney is permission to commence work on your behalf, not an end in itself. I decided to cut my losses to the few hundred dollars I was in and politely expressed my dissatisfaction, which of course also went unresponded to. At the beginning of this year he had the audacity to get one of his staff to call me to try to obtain my business in preparing the tax return on the very matter they had ripped me off on! I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a competent, knowledgeable, and ethical CPA.
