I come here every summer to have lunch. I like the buffalo chicken wrap that they have at this place. I usually eat outside if it's a nice day and the ladies that are here are usually friendly. There's 2 things that I don't like here when I'm eating outside, 1. there are sometimes people smoking which is not only disgusting but also disturbing while I'm trying to enjoy my lunch, and 2. when the people come up to eat from their golfing event, they get extremely loud which is not pleasant when I'm trying to eat and talk to the person I'm with. read more

One of the best public courses in the area, offering ample parking, easy drip off and pickup, reasonable greens fees and three (3) nine hole courses that can be mixed and matched to keep it fresh. The courses are well maintained, and are fairly challenging (I stunk the place up that day). There is a nice driving range with overpriced range balls. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor porch seating facing the driving range. Great for families if some are playing and others are not. read more

We booked Centennial for our wedding reception, and everything was absolutely amazing. Annie is the easiest person on the planet to work with. She made an incredibly stressful process as painless as possible. I had one request for the dinner: a breakfast-for-dinner entree option. Annie and the staff were very excited to try something new with us, and it came out tasting INCREDIBLE. All the food got rave reviews from all our guests. Even the hors d'oeuvres were delicious! The reception hall is very cozy (we had about 90 people and we were all very comfortable), the staff is very hospitable, the price is very reasonable for the area (the cake and open bar were included!), and the planning process was seamless. We cannot thank Annie enough for helping us put together our wedding day. If you have a guest list of around 100 people and are close to the Carmel area, this is THE place to have your reception. read more

Oct 2019, love this course, great staff and the greens are in wonderful condition. Also, you cannot beat the beautiful view of the mountains. My only complaint is that they need better signage on their courses because we missed the 8th hole on the Fairways Course. Also, the food at the restaurant is not bad. Would play this course any day. Like this course better than Galloping Hills in NJ because of the ease of setting a tee time, the pro shop sells women's cloths, and the staff are great. Trying to set a tee time at Galloping Hills is a NIGHTMARE because they gave use the run around - promised us we could have a specific date and time, then when we called back they told us they had an outing. And you need a Players Card to set a tee time earlier then 7 days. CRAZY, we wont go back there again. Rather spend my money at Centennial Golf Club. read more

We decided to have our wedding reception here because the scenery was beautiful and venue the right size for our gathering (approximately 80 people). This is also the 3rd event we held at this venue, which speaks volumes about the quality. The experience from start to finish was ideal and super easy. We worked with Annie as our event planner, who was simply amazing. She went out of her way to accommodate us every step of the way, whether it was helping with decor or accommodating our setup time during the early morning hours. She was extremely pleasant, energetic, and all around just an amazing person. She was involved every step of the way and always quick to respond to all of my questions via email or phone. The event went perfectly smooth and everything was gorgeous, professional and delivered great fun. Having the outdoor space was especially helpful and created a nice flow for guests to move around. Bottom line - excellent value and epic experience....made our dreams come true. read more

I have to say this is probably one of the best public courses in the area. It's worth the drive up north from lower Westchester. The place is maintained very well. They have mat tees as well as grass tees driving range. And they have 3 sets of 9 beautiful holes, so you can't change it up and play a different 18 every time you come. The staff are very hospitable, and they get you on your way. The course has fast greens and some tough lays. Some holes are narrow, others have water hazards. Choose your clubs wisely, because this course is a bit tough. I really hope that they offer another Living Social discount for this place. It's a gem. The place is pricey, so you need to play twilight hours, or hope for another living social coupon to come out. read more

Once a year or so I treat myself to a round of golf at Centennial and usually I bring along one or two foursomes. Generally the experience has been a good one-- all three course are interesting and fun to play and I've never had an issue. Yesterday,however, I brought a foursome up to play on Meadows & Fairways and the experience was very dissatisfying. The greens had been aerated, which no one told us about, and they refused to allow carts on fairways despite it being dry and drive able-- to add insult to injury they charged each of us $122.00 to play in these conditions.!! There are far too many nice courses that are player friendly available to play so I don't think I'll be going back to Centennial again. Too bad they have great layouts. read more

With three friends played Lakes/Fairways yesterday in 5 hours 30 minutes from a 10:10 tee time. No ranger in sight with the foursome in front of us setting a record for slowest round of the year. When we finally saw a ranger on the 16th hole and complained, he said it was the group two holes ahead. We explained that we saw open holes ahead all day, no avail. I've played here 3 times this year. I can't seem to do better than 91-94. Consider: I'm a 12 handicap. This is a tough course for me. Let's note these opinions of mine: 1. Greens - excellent condition, roll fast and true. 2. Fairways - for the most part, very good condition 3. Tee boxes - above average, not a detriment, not Augusta(but what is?) 4.Pace of play - a little slow, a long track, but still a bit slow. 5. Service - very good, friendly, ready to help, very accomodating 6.Practice areas - in my experience, these are excellent - putting green, sand bunker, driving range 7.Price - steep - $125 approx. on weekend, not sure during the week 8.Memberships - I've heard $5-$6000 - seems steep for a place allowing anyone to play without a member (I am friends with a few members.) 9. Clubhouse - seems very nice - don't know enough to comment more 10. Other - occasional "cart path only" rule for some holes or all 18 slows play and really just kind of s u c k s. No discount offered on full cart path only days. Sometimes after a rain, you need to protect the course, but paying full bore for a major league hike...ugh... OK, now I'm going whine like a little baby some more.... I confess: I'm not good enough to play here, so I am probably done for the near future. Here's my plight - they have a bunch of holes that are tough for a non-single digit handicap player to hit in regulation. Example, hole #2, Lakes, tough uphill par 4. My drive goes about 235, in fairway. My iron hits center of the green, 10 feet above the pin. I tap my putt, it decelerates and then speeds up, off the green. I chip my 4th shot up to close within 5 feet of the pin - it stops and starts rolling back to me - off the green. I chip my 5th to within 7 feet, a side hill putt for a 6. But I lip the 6th, terrified, and tap in for a triple bogey. Fair? (Golf is not known to be fair, but seriously....) I'm a hacker, so I accept this type of damage - it's early in the round. Fast forward to #3 on Fairways. Drive about 240 - right side of fairway. Hit a mediocre iron (for me) leaving it 15 yards off the green. Pin is tucked to the left, below. Using a wedge, I lob an approach that bounces lightly, starts rolling, then picks up speed - rolling past the pin, off the green. I chip up my 4th shot, the ball rolls off the green again. Not a great 5th shot, but rolling off the green is unexpected and demoralizing. I make a 7. This scenario is repeated 3-4 times and saving a par is extremely tough due to pin placements here on undulating greens. So I shoot a 94 last time after a day of pretty solid ball striking while butchering everything around the greens. I play Union Vale and shoot an 83. Ballyowen and shoot an 89. Crystal effing Springs ? I shoot a 87. My buddy got me on Richter which is pretty tough and I shot an 86 with pretty much the same game as I brought to Centennial. It's tough to save a par here - that's my opinion. Shooting in the 80s or 90s is not exactly setting records, but getting banged for $125 for an unfulfilling round isn't bringing me and my weak game back. Let's be clear - I'm not blaming the golf course for me being a hacker - I'm just saying, not fun. I don't have a towering 170 yard approach shot in my arsenal or a towering lob wedge a la Mickelson around the green. Double bogies, ok, I accept I'm pathetic, but triples? Chipping back and forth on the greens? Not fun. A very good golf course for better players than I. read more

Courses (there are three nines) are fine and continue to be in decent shape. What is inexcusable is the condition of the cart paths which have more potholes than the Cross Bronx . If you have (or don't want to have in the future) any issues or problems with your back stay away . It took more than 6 weeks with chiropractic and physical therapy to recover from my last round there. I can't believe I am essentially posting a review of a golf course cart path but it really is that bad. Oh yes and golf carts no longer have GPS units. read more

I played the course this past Saturday 9/12/2020... course was in decent shape. Some tee boxes needed care. The real issue was pace of play. The fee was $98 which puts it in the upper value for public golf but a 5 and 3/4 hour round is not acceptable. At one point my foursome was waiting on a tee box with another foursome in the fairway ahead of us... one foursome on the green... and two groups behind us. No course ranger to be had... read more

Three aspects I want to discuss: 1) Driving Range- Over priced, $8 for 25 balls. I might as well buy two dozen pinnacle balls and hit them from my backyard. At least then I can hit off grass. They also pick and choose when to have the range open. I was just told they closed the range early to clean pick for tomorrow. So you close early to do the job today that you have scheduled for tomorrow? And so we can set the record straight, this isn't the first time this has happened. I have come to this range 3 times this summer to be told it's closed when there is between 2-3 hours before sunset left. 2) Golf Course- Over priced and terrible conditions all summer. My wife and I moved here two years ago and I was happy to play NY golf courses. I come to find out Centennial's courses range, depending on the time of year and weather, what they want to charge at will. After my first round here for my bachelor party, which is a whole other story with mistreating me and my guests, we played one side called meadows. It should be closed. The greens were terrible and the fairways looked like someone drove their Porsche all over as their golf cart. Over the years, I keep coming back to see if things have changed. Nope. Still over priced and bad conditions. I stopped coming here after last summer and play courses that are in better shape and for 1/2-1/3 the cost. 3) Staff- Everyone that works here is smug or has no idea about anything. I understand that the place is seasonal and there can be issues with a committed work force. But I think I could find more courteous service at a fast food joint than this staff. They always have an excuse for everything and always act like our requests or questions inconvenience their busy day watching TV or chatting on the phone. My nephew has a gift card here. I'm selling to someone at my work so I can at least take him somewhere to have fun without losing his college fund and gift card to play 18 holes of mediocre golf. I also do not want to be contacted by anyone that works at Centennial. You have let me down for three summers and only have gotten worse. I live down the road and would hope the local course would cater to their potential repeat customers. Guess I need to drive 30-45 minutes away to get decent service at a decent price. read more

For a public course this place really does a great job. Played the lakes and fairways combination today and had a great time. This is deffintely a course that it helps to have played because there are some very tricky holes. The greens were in great condition and rolling great, if you were above the pins it was a struggle to get close because of how they were rolling. Fairways were also in great condition, tee boxes were a bit shaggy but it being a public course everything cant be perfect. Only complaint is not seeing the cart girl enough as it was a hot day and some or the water stations were near empty. Will deffintely be back again read more

Our family loves Centennial. My 2 sons play competitively, one in college and one in high school. They play regularly and I'm learning. They also get instruction. They helped at the children's camp and we had big parties there. Centennial is beautiful and challenging. The 3 nine hole courses keep the experience fresh each time out. The restaurant is enjoyable and the shop is fine. Staff is helpful. read more

Just want to make others aware of this experience in case you are planning on doing the same. My siblings and I were excited to put money together for a golf gift certificate for a birthday gift for my father. I placed the phone order with the pro shop at Centennial at the beginning of the month, and was told it would be mailed out that day. I called after a week of not receiving it to check in, and was told it was mailed 2 days ago and would arrive shortly. After 3 weeks of not receiving it, I again attempted to contact someone in the pro shop. I was told on a few occasions the manager would call me back and received no response to my phone calls or to my emails. Helpless as I don't live in the area and did not want to inconvenience my parents, I was finally forced to have my bank cancel the charge. Though I understand mail issues happen and things get misplaced, responding to your customers is key in running a business. This situation was easily avoidable. read more

Great golf course and facilities, friendly staff. About an hour and 15 minutes from NYC, easy drive up I-684. $135 during peak times but it would be much more if it were closer to NYC. They have a nice driving range with grass stations but sometimes they use mats when they're giving the grass a break. The green fee includes a bucket of balls. The course is well maintained. There are no housing developments along the course, so the scenery is beautiful. You can find cheaper courses closer to NYC but you can't find any that are as nice as this one. read more

Bought a Groupon for this course that's good for Monday-Thurs. However, they neglect to inform you that they close down for tournaments on these days. When we tried booking for one of these days, they inevitably had a tournament going on. Instead of offering to honor it for another day, they said we could pay the full price and use the groupon towards green fees. Feels more like a bait and switch. read more

My husband and I have been playing at Centennial GC for years. It has three distinctive wonderfully designed 9-holes of Lake/Fairway/Meadow that you never get tired of the different 18-holes combo. The Manager Scott with the staffs Joe/ Mary/ Drew & George are always so pleasant and friendly. With the COVID of 2020 , it has set up a proper Protocol that you feel comfortable to play there. The restaurant location is perfect with open views of the golf courses for an after-round drinks or a quick bite. All in all, it is always an enjoyable experience to play there, and we can't wait to get back there to play in next Spring again! read more

One of the best public courses just outside of NYC. The views are spectacular on all three of their 9 hole courses (Meadows, Lakes & Fairways) and each has a handful of difficult holes to keep you in check. They have GPS satellite in the carts for distance and the pace of the course is pretty good regardless of your tee time. The course is wonderfully kept, great ammenities, great bar/restaurant and pro shop and the staff is incredibly helpful on and off the course. You can't beat the scenery this course has to offer. read more

Have played here a couple of times in the past, and the golf experience was great. However, I was given a gift certificate around the holidays for a golf lesson with their "Pro", Scott Klemme, and over the past 6 weeks have left 4 voicemail messages for him to schedule a lesson with no return phone call---ever. Today I went in to the pro shop and used my gift certificate to buy golf shirts that I really didn't need, but wanted to use the gift certificate before it expired. I met really nice friendly people working in the pro shop, and it's a shame I was not given the courtesy of a return call. I'm pretty sure the one lesson would have turned in to several more as I am looking to better my golf game. I'll have to go someplace where the resident "Pro" actually cares. read more

The course was fantastic. They have 3 nine hole layouts and I played lakes and fairways for the 2nd time in a month. People there are great and the course is fantastic. Super views and elevations on the lakes course and pristine conditions everywhere. Food was good and the practice facility is great. We love the golf course. Beautiful greens and now that the prices are reasonable we can golf more often than once a year. The food at Nelsons Tavern is quite good. We have been here for both breakfast and lunch. My only compliant is their omelettes have shrunk. They were nice, big a fluffy, still fluffy but a lot less of it for the same price, so we prefer to just come for lunch. My favorite item on the menu is their blacken steak sandwich, nicely season and always cooked to perfection. Bread is toast and the white garlic sauce that you spread on which only enhances the sandwich. Burgers are really good as well and their chicken appetizer is one of the best around. read more

This golf course should be ashamed of themselves. A few of my buddies and I played mid-week a few weeks ago. The course had the range closed but told us it was open...Next, we weren't even allowed to try and play lakes...got stuck with meadows and fairway. The rough was so thick and had shavings all of the place, the greens were ok but way to fast. There is no way on this earth they should be charging any price past 50 bucks....we payed 60, with no range to warm up... I feel like they owe me a 20 dollar credit or I will never go back!! read more

My husband and I live on a golf course in Florida. He is an "avid" player! We come back to NY several times a year. The Centennial Golf Club is his favorite in the NY area. Regardless of where we are in NY, he makes it a point to play at the Centennial! first and only time i played this course was just great. very well maintained, beautiful scenery and elevation changes all over the place. pretty damn quick greens, and quite a few forced carries. not as close to nyc as mike would make you think, but well worth the travel to get there. not cheap at all (100 bucks, but we had hudson valley golf pass 70 for us) but its worth it. i cannot wait to go back again. my only beef is on the first hole fairway, (lakes) there are range balls everywhere, making it very difficult to find your ball. other than that, aces all the way! read more

I had purchased 2 CBS Local Coupons last July to play golf at the Centennial Golf Club. The coupons cost $50 each and were good for a round of golf (Mon-Thur) and a bucket of range balls; regular price is $100. They expired on 12/31/2011. I planned to golf there with a friend today (8/30/2012). I remembered that I had these coupons and called the pro shop on Wednesday 8/29. Spoke with Scott who is the manager. I mentioned the expired coupons to him and asked if they would accept them for the cash value that I had paid. I was not looking to get an extension of the coupon. He told me that unfortunately he could not give me the cash value. When I asked him for the number of the person with whom they had dealt with at CBS Coupons, he told me that he could not give me that information. When I began to question him about their policy, he asked me when I had a tee time. Told him that I was coming up on Thursday morning. He then told me that he would look into it and to ask for him when I got there on Thursday. When I arrived on Thursday, I asked for him at the pro shop and he came over to me. He asked if I had the coupons with me. I handed them to him. He then told me that the club would honor the cash value of the coupons. I would just like to thank Scott and the club for doing the right thing by me to honor the coupons dollar value. My friend and I then went out and played a round of golf on one of the best weather days of the summer (I wish that I could say the same about my golf game). The course was in great shape. All of the people who work there, from the kids who help you with your bags to the girls in the bar/grille area were outstanding. We will definitely try to get back here before the end of the year. read more

Beautifully maintained and conditioned; fairways are immaculate; greens run fast and true; every hole presents a challenge, whether water, narrow landing areas, sidehill lies; rough is punishing. But if you hit it well and plan your shots intelligently, the course is "gettable." Facilities and amenities are wonderful (3 putting greens, free bucket of balls). Staff is friendly and helpful. A bit pricey for my budget, so it's a once- or twice-a-year treat. read more

Centennial Golf Club is beautiful, very well maintained, difficult enough and overall wonderful. The only downside to it is it is in Carmel, NY so it is about 1.5 hours from New York City. However, it is worth the trip. There are three nine hole courses so different combinations of any two give you a different course each time you play. There is a nice driving range although formerly one could hit off actual grass, now only astroturf mats are available. There is lots of space for putting/chipping practice and a terrific restaurant overlooking the driving range and the hills. If you seldom get to play on a private course, Centennial is a great substitute. It feels much like one and the staff is so helpful and pleasant, you would actually believe you were playing a private course. A few dollars more expensive than some of the Westchester courses but a much, much better experience and well worth the extra cost and the extra driving. read more
