Center City Pediatrics on South Street has been a remarkable part of our experience living in Philadelphia. It's truly one of the aspects we value most about our community. With three young children, including a three-year-old daughter and twin boys under one year old, having a pediatric practice we trust is incredibly important. This team has made a significant difference in helping us navigate parenthood with confidence. The location is ideal, and what stands out most is how well the practice combines a warm, family-oriented atmosphere with the capabilities of a larger institution. The systems, communication, and overall expertise provide real peace of mind, especially in a fast-paced, modern environment. We regularly see Dr. DiBardino and Dr. Barkan, both of whom have been excellent. However, every provider we've met has been thoughtful, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. Whether it's routine check-ups or last-minute needs when a child is sick, the team remains consistently responsive and accommodating. They've also been incredibly helpful with administrative tasks, including daycare forms and other requests that naturally arise with young children. Support is always prompt, and guidance feels practical, measured, and never overbearing. Billing has also been fair and transparent, which we sincerely appreciate. One other point worth mentioning: some of the criticisms in other reviews seem unrealistic. This is clearly a high-volume, high-functioning practice serving many families, and that requires efficiency and decisiveness from the front desk and support staff. Any occasional shortfall should be viewed in that context. From our perspective, the practice operates with professionalism, urgency, and competence, which is a big part of why it's so effective. It's hard to imagine a better pediatric experience. Their additional locations in Fishtown and Bala Cynwyd only add to the convenience and flexibility. We're grateful to have found this practice and would highly recommend it to any family with young children. They provide excellent care for our kids, and by extension, our entire family. read more

OMG I saw the lousy reviews on Google too. they make me very happy because they show how messed up the concept of reviewing physicians' practices like other businesses, is. That said Dr Berger has cared for my daughter since her birth 12 years ago. He is a model of a physician, as is the entire practice. It is superbly responsive. In this instance (which causes me to post reviews), Dr Berger called on a holiday to inquire about my daughter. But he has always been like that. He is extremely knowledgeable, and he has excellent bedside manner with both my child and her parents. He really sets the standard. read more

Because this is a public forum, I won't get into specifics. However, it's not hyperbole to say that when everyone in my child's orbit was working against her interests and my efforts, Dr. Berger stood by us and advocated for my child. He offers solid parenting advice (some a parent may not want to hear, but ends up being spot on). We have a long way to go in my child's education journey, but with Dr. Berger's dedication and resolve, we now have a path forward with several options from which to choose. We decided to move our children to another pediatric office. They never return my phone calls when I call to speak to a doctor. I have to call back to get an update from a nurse. We loved it in the beginning but after a few visits, it was very disorganized and unpleasant. I felt very disrespected by the front desk. The staff that works the front desk who makes the appointments and handles the phones calls needs a major overhaul. I personally do not recommend this facility to you if you love your child. Thank you for not making my family not feel welcome. We will find another pediatric that will welcome us and care for our growing children. read more

I was excited that a pediatrician two blocks from our new home had come recommended by other parents, but was not happy with our experience and switched pediatricians after 6 months. Dr. Berger is a charming guy, but his lack of eye contact with me and constant staring at his laptop made me uneasy. I found their routine weighing and measuring of my toddler sloppy, inconsistent and sometimes erroneous. The nursing staff needs some work with their bedside manner (and long, sharp nails are not conducive to giving toddlers shots). The office is disorganized and the last straw for me was when they almost gave my kid a vaccine he was not there to receive and were told day-of that they were out of the one we did need. And spruce up (and clean once in a while) the waiting room toys and books! Needs some work! No comment on Dr. Warren as I've never met with her. read more

Don't bother going here. They are so unorganized it's insane. Dr Berger is great but every time we went in we had an appointment we somehow got switched to some other pediatrician. Almost every visit was with a different doctor. Their answering service is the worst. Whenever I requested a nurse to call me it took them hours. In the 2 emergencies I did have while my son was a patient here by the time they returned my call I had already had to go to the emergency room. The front office always puts you on hold for 10 minutes at a time, they never had a clue what was going on. The last straw for me was when we were 10 minutes late for an appointment and the rude, to say the least, receptionist told me I could reschedule for anther day or wait for 3 hours to be seen by someone other than Dr. Berger. I have requested my son's records be sent elsewhere over a month ago and I'm still dealing with this unorganized office to get my son seen elsewhere. A miserable experience. Eric Berger MD is a charming guy who is very friendly and cares deeply about his patients and their parents. It's extremely rare to find a doctor in philadephia who puts in the time and effort to make sure you understand what is going on and feels obligated to greet you at the door when you arrive. I highly recommend him for anyone with children. Dr. Cynthia Warren is very charming as well and compliments the practice nicely. I have every confidence in her as I do Dr. Berger. The practice is small and I personally hope it stays that way, it's nice to be able to see the same doctor every time you visit and get the face time you need. That being said I cannot give CCP 5 stars because the support staff is not up to it. Frequently I have problems trying to call the office, make appointments, reschedule or get the proper paperwork finished. Things get mixed up, they have to ask the same questions frequently because they loose info or forget. Luckily Dr. Berger is on top of it all and corrects their errors, but he shouldn't have to. We love center city pediatrics! We've been coming here for 5.5 years. You won't find a more accommodating office. All the doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff are knowledgeable and wonderful at what they do. They are always so friendly and caring.There are long waits at times but once you are seen the doctors are extremely attentive! Although, we might not always see our primary doctor, we have never had an issue with a call back or being seen. Thank you CCP, you are truly the best! Keep up the good work read more

It is sad to write this about a Pediatricians office but for new parents thinking about using this office it is worth providing some insight. Full disclosure. I attempted to reach out to discuss this matter the CC prior to posting on Social Media but they are non responsive. -They are great at taking new patients but that is about it. -If you are do not schedule an appointment in the office or they have to reschedule due to the office hours changing it is nearly impossible to reach the scheduling POC. My wife played phone tag with the scheduler for nearly a week. -The office is NOT interested in sick visits for kids. Our kids go to daycare and as such from time-to-time they are exposed to disease. Our oldest son (16 months old) has needed to see the Pediatrician 4 times due to illness. Each time we attempted to schedule a sick visit we were essentially told there was no availability. Beyond the actual mechanics of attempting to see a provider for a sick visit, the on-call nurse seems to be grossly overworked and is not responsive. Call back time is at least four hours later. (Side note, last time we contacted the office for a sick visit, the on-call nurse advised us that there was nothing to worry about (eye puss) and that daycare should not have any issue taking him back. The next day, daycare called and asked him to leave. We contacted CC Pediatrics for a sick visit and again, they were not accommodating. Ultimately we ended up taking our 16-month to an urgent care. At the urgent care, the Doctor was so concerned about his vision being harmed they asked if he could identify colors yet. Regrettably, he cannot so at present we are hoping that this eye issue has no long term impact on his vision). Long-story short, in my opinion, a Pediatricians is supposed to be one of the most stable and important relationships in a child's life. CC Pediatrics seems completely disinterested in acting as an important part of my children's life. They primarily seem interested in collecting revenue from well visits and not actually engaging when medical attention/advice is truly needed. read more

I can't overstate how happy I am with center city pediatrics. Our son is 6 weeks old, and Dr. Berger has been fantastic, he is always warm and friendly, takes his time, and is clearly very knowledgeable. As a physician myself, I tend to be pretty picky about doctors I choose to be treated with and our experience so far has been great. When my son had tongue tie that was causing a lot of difficulty and pain with breastfeeding, Dr. Berger squeezed us in the same day to take care of it. So far, most appointments have run almost or very close to on time. Also, I would mention that the lactation consultant, Linda, is wonderful, I had a personal session with her, and attended the support group, and really enjoyed both. I would also mention, our first appointment was with Dr. Warren, and we had a very good experience with her as well. read more

We've been going to CCP for 3 years since our first child was born and are very pleased. We've seen most of the docs here but our primary is Dr. Madani. He is so warm, kind and very attentive. We've also seen Drs. Warren, Fischer and Frost and have very good experiences with them. There can be quite a wait most of the time but that is to be expected in a practice this busy. When it is our turn, I never feel rushed. The walk-in sick hours have been a godsend several times and when I've called to schedule a sick appt, they get us in the same day. I've called the triage nurse several times w questions and get a response in a few hours. I have never been turned away for being 5 minutes late. I do my best to show up early and the few times I have been running late, I call in advance to let the office know. They also have a lactation consultant on staff who was a miracle worker with my first daughter and the docs are very supportive of exclusive and extended breastfeeding. They have lots of classes and groups for parents, like postpartum support led by a therapist and infant sleep. We've never gone but it's great that they are building a community beyond just pediatric visits. These bad reviews must be from people who expect the sun to rotate around them. It is not unusual to wait to see a doc. Be on time to your appts and considerate when you are running late (people running late is one of the reasons why you have to wait for a doctor!!) 3 years and counting and we've had a great experience with this practice. read more

Horrible experiences two weeks in a row!! Daughter had an earache/infection and had two follow-up visits. The first visit it was approx. 40 minutes after the scheduled appointment before we saw the doctor. The second visit was worse ... we waited 35 minutes in the lobby before I decided to approach and ask if they forgot about my daughter ... I was given a lame excuse that there was a room shortage and the room also had to be cleaned. Ten minutes later we were shown to a room where we waited for another 30 minutes when we decided to leave never seeing the doctor. At no time did the staff check on us or give us any idea when when we might see the doctor. Pathetic and unprofessional! In my opinion, CCP has slipped year after year ... time to go elsewhere! read more

Center City Pediatrics has provided the best medical care I have ever seen. Our daughter has been a patient since her birth. The doctors and staff have always been warm, gentle, caring and professional. This week they went above and beyond. Twice I forgot to do things: I remembered I needed a referral about 12 hours before an appointment and they got the referral in the system after 5PM (and before the appointment). Next I forgot information needed for a pediatric blood draw at a place in the city. They immediately faxed the slip to the office. All of this was done with courtesy--and speed. We are lucky to be with this practice. Just as important, the doctors are thorough and patient. Our daughter's medical care at CCP has been superb. I highly recommend them. read more

My girls have been patient's of Dr. Warren since birth (my oldest being 18), and have been going to Center City Peds since she (Dr. Warren) joined the practice. I've never really experienced a problem there except the minor irritation from most front desk staff. I have to admit though, that we rarely get visits with Dr. Warren anymore as I'm constantly told that she's book for ~6 months out. That's a bit of an annoyance but if it wasn't for the well-informed courteous providers there who the see the girls, I would leave. I hate paying for parking! Also, the migraine I would get just thinking about switching out their charts ugghh. The oldest one will soon be moving on to another primary office as she will age out soon and I think I can hang in there with the little one (10 years old). I just don't like unnecessary change. Oh and I've never been late so I can't speak to the rescheduling after 10 minutes, but that's absurd. Did they forget these are children and accidents happen (idk).. read more

Worst run office. Improperly charged me a $100 invoice and they won't immunize my kid until paid. I've been a patient parent for eight years. Instead of scheduling my kids' well visit (which is covered by our Blue Cross) they referred me to their CFA to settle the dispute. He refused an appointment until settled. Really despicable staff. Doctor Madani has been our doctor since the first day in the hospital. He is great! The right level of professionalism and warmth. He always takes so much time and makes every member of our family feel like his #1 patient. A lot of things with being a parent or having young kids is annoying. Having to wait is annoying. But Doctor Madani is worth the wait for our family. We have also taken advantage of working with their lactation consultant Linda and gone to a few classes. Hit and miss. Some doctors care a ton and some others couldn't care less with their busy schedule. You don't always get to choose which physician to see, so they have inconsistent knowledge of the child's situation. The most annoying aspect is their management. Scheduling is a pain in the butt. Voicemails are never attended to. So don't bother. Just keep calling. The one good thing going for these guys is their location... proximity to any parents in grad Ho. That said, can't wait till new Chop location opens at south st bridge. Would I recommend to a friend? No. read more

These guys were - until our last appointment - totally fine, and you'll enjoy meeting with Drs Warren and Berger. But they have a totally unrealistic wait policy - I got there 10 minutes late for my three year old's check up, and was told I'd have to reschedule. If you can't be ten minutes late to a service involving kids, getting them ready, out of their school, leaving your job, then you just can't make use of the service, so I told them I'd be finding another doctor. But mileage for the constantly timely may vary. read more

I have been taking my daughter to CCP since she was 4 months old. She is now 10 months old. Today was THE LAST STRAW. I am not one to complain. I am so relaxed and laid back but not this time. I have taken my daughter there a total of 5 times. 3 times for her regular check-ups and 2 times for being sick. I drive all the way from West Philly. I always get there on time if not early and end up waiting OVER AN HOUR to see a doctor. Over an hour, as in, I have already been in the waiting room for 20-30 min then an hour when I get into the patient room. I have gotten a parking ticket one of the times b/c it took so long. Did I ever complain? No. B/c I thought, "I am sure they are super busy." So, today I parked and the meter actually ATE my credit card. When it spat it out 3 min later I flew in to the office only to be told they needed to reschedule b/c I was late. When I asked how late I was (bewildered) she told me 5 min. So, I rescheduled with another, strange doctor only b/c my daughter needs her shots. I get it, I was late. But 5 min.? Really? Not to mention the countless HOURS I have spent waiting on them to get their act together. And the extra $ I have to pay to park b/c they can't get their act together in time. I honestly have no doubt that this is the work of the incompetent office staff and it probably should not reflect on the doctors. I am going back today to tell them about what happened and we will go from there. On a review of the doctors, I usually go to Dr. Madani. He is very sweet and I like how he is right out of school. I like how he is laid back and very knowledgeable and gentle. My daughter is generally a healthy baby so it doesn't take much to be a good doctor. But the staff is lazy. Our primary is Dr. Madani and he is absolutely fabulous! I think it helps that he has two small children as well, and can completely identify with a lot of the things we have experienced. I love their walk-in morning sick hours and they make it easy to schedule a sick appointment. An absolute plus is the fact that they have evening hours, although for non-sick appointments they do fill up fast, but that's the same scenario in most places. Wish I could give -1 stars *AVOID* the most unprofessional pediatrics practice in Philadelphia. For starters anytime you need to schedule an appointment be prepared to wait at least a month. These bozos actually confirmed an appointment for 2:30, arrive and checked in at 2:15 at 2:45 I was made aware that I missed an imaginary scheduled appointment at 2:00. Played them their own voicemail to no avail. Doctor is too busy can't be bothered so you come back in another month. Thank god it's just a checkup and not something serious. Never again do yourself a favor and go anyplace else, you'll be glad you didn't waste time at this embarrassment. read more

Dr. Berger and his Staff are wonderful. The smaller practice seems more personal, he connects with his patients, and we have never had to wait more than a couple minutes to be seen. The rooms are comfortable and they are even expanding to make more rooms and a larger waiting room. Easy street parking out front makes it less stressful for getting small children and strollers into the office. Dr. Berger even went the extra distance and stayed late to see my child for a infection so I wouldn't have to wait till the next day. I would definitely recommend them to anyone! read more

They have gotten busier in recent years but I appreciate their hard work and realize it is difficult to run a pediatric practice that is growing so quickly especially in this neighborhood. I had a similar experience to the previous reviewer. I was 10 minutes late to the appointment with my newborn. They did not understand that getting 2 children together plus finding parking by their building can be challenging. The receptionist was rude and told me I was 30 minutes late but she did not even know what time my appointment was. I've been taking my daughters to Dr. Berger since they were born (now 6 and 5) and he was affiliated with another practice. When he formed Center City Pediatrics there was no question in my mind that we would follow him. Even now that we've moved significantly farther away from his location we still take the girls to see him. Dr Berger is warm and welcoming which, in combination with his knowledge, makes me confident that I am doing the best for my daughters by bringing them to him. As previously mentioned by other reviewers, the only reason that I can't give this office 5 stars is because of the clerical staff. The nurses/nurse aides are great, but we've had issues with resolving some billing mistakes, but they were eventually fixed. They are usually pretty prompt responding to requests, too! For Dr. Berger himself- I couldn't assign him enough stars. read more

This review is for the group lactation class with Linda Derbyshire. Linda is very nice and seemingly knowledgeable, however on the day I went for class, there were 16-17 ppl. That's way too many to get any actual help. If you're requiring people to buy tickets, you are able to set a limit on the number, otherwise this might as well be a drop in class. My children have been patients with this practice since Dr. Berger first opened which I loved the level of care given. The level of service has totally declined drastically from over crowded waiting room, to appointments not being logged correctly to wrong vaccination almost being given!!! Within the last week I have had enough and will be changing Pediatricians staffing needs to be properly trained as I have seen the change of staff throughout the years, considering parking is a very big issue it is totally unacceptable for an appointment to be given to get to the office to find out that appointment was not logged and to reschedule this has happened on 2 occasions. I will say that Dr Berger and Dr Warren are exceptional Doctors and I hope that Dr Berger gets the proper staffing as if things continue he will lose more than just my 3 children. read more

Last night I called center city peds at 11pm because of an eye infection my 10 day old son had. As a new mom, I was completely freaking out. But Dr. Berger returned my call less than an hour after I left the voicemail. They got us in the very next morning for an emergency appointment. Easy parking and access, all the services are there, and the other doctors we got to see on sick visits are also great. I have been so impressed with how center city peds has been handling the covid 19 pandemic! My baby was scheduled for her wellness check and I was a little uneasy about bringing her in. I called the office to reschedule and spoke with One of the receptionist name Brittany. She completely put my mind at ease! She took the time to explain to me what the office was doing to prevent the spread of the corona virus, explained how they are only seeing well children 2 and under and if a sick child needed to come in, the steps they were taking to prevent any sick children from waiting in the waiting room! They actually go downstairs and meet the (sick) family, outside! Give the child and parent a mask and bring them straight to the dedicated "sick patient room" she even reassured me that when I arrived, she would see to it that we would be roomed right away! In the past, I have felt the front desk staff have been very dismissive with me (new mom) and they are not very friendly. I'm not sure how long Brittany has been working there, but she is a complete rock star! I was blown away that she did not try and rush me off the phone. I can only imagine how many phone calls they are receiving during this scary time and the fact that she took her time with me and answered all of my questions was unbelievable! read more

We left this practice in December 2016 and are much happier. The administrative staff is horrible at CCP. Very rude and unprofessional. The wait time has gotten worse recently. I also spent a half hour on the phone with a triage nurse discussing my daughter's symptoms before demanding a sick appointment in November 2016. I have waited several hours for phone calls to be returned from the nurse. Forget ever speaking to a doctor on the phone. The practice has taken on too many clients. The supply isn't meeting the demand. Very impersonal lately. When we made Dr. Fisher aware that we were moving and leaving she could have cared less. She was my daughter's pediatrician for 3 years. I thought that was really impersonal and rude. Needless to say, I would not recommend this practice at all. read more
