Visited in May of 2024 and forgot to leave my review! This was a wonderful stop on our vacation, just a 15 minute walk from our accommodation venue. There are so many goodies packed into this charming shop! I got there a bit late in the afternoon but the shopkeeper was very welcoming and encouraged me to take my time as she was doing inventory. Friendly atmosphere and wonderful selection of fabric. I bought a 10$ mystery bag which was a very fun idea.

My daughter and I discovered this delightful fabric shop while we were soaking up some coastal goodness a few weeks ago. Did we need fabric? No. Did we leave with fabric? Maaaaaybe. (Okay, you called my bluff! Yes, we did.) Firstly, Center Diamond has a fabulous selection of fabrics and the prices are more reasonable than you'd expect. The fabric is sorted into themes and by color-- a feast for the senses! Maybe it's because I've spent most of my time at Joanns (R.I.P.) I was delightedly surprised that they carry flour sack towel fabric. It had never occurred to me to make my own kitchen towels! They have an extensive variety of tools and notions as well as fun vinyl decals to showcase one's sewing love. There's a great selection of patterns with finished samples for inspiration and several kits and a mahoosive selection of stackers, fat quarters, and jelly rolls. The staff was wonderful here! They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and fun. We bought a pattern and they even printed it out for us. My daughter and I can't wait to return! If you're a fabric crafter, do yourself a favor and stop into Center Diamond, you won't be disappointed! read more

Sometimes, when I'm in a beautiful store like this, I wish I had talent or even interest in creating quilts or anything out of fabric. Alas, that's not how I identify. Sadly, none of my talented friends were with me. Still, this is a beautiful shop with a lot of excited customers who loved what they were seeing and buying. WOW ! That was the word that I used in describing this place to a friend. I loved it. The fabric choices were the same as others but they were also very different. What a great variety she had in the store. I think what I enjoyed seeing the most was all the samples she had displayed and the kits that had been made up for those samples. It would be hard to give this place all the kudos it deserves because it really is a spectacular shop. Next year when I'm in the area this will be a must stop when there is more time to wander through. I loved it ! read more

Julie and her staff are always super friendly and helpful. They also cut quickly (and ACCURATELY!) when you pile a massive stack of bolts on the counter! They know what they've got, too, so you can walk in with a request ("have anything with starfish?") and Julie will show everything!! Center Diamond is also doing weekly live streams (Thursday's, I think at 4pm...?) where she shows new & featured items. She takes phone & messenger orders and ships FAST!!! Julie carries a really nice selection, including holiday fabrics, some flannels, various panels, gorgeous batiks, Kaffe Fassett Collective, kid prints, lots of beach/sea designs (of course!!!), notions, books, patterns, fq's..... I go see Julie every time I visit Cannon Beach and highly recommend the shop!! read more

I loved this cute store. My husband and I were driving from Portland to Cannon Beach and I had dozed off. Suddenly I woke up and said, STOP! Quilt store! (It's my super power.) There was tons of fabric and the young girl working here was super friendly. I got all kinds of fun fabrics plus a pattern, a layer cake and a charm pack. This is my all time favorite fabric store! I am already thinking of all the things I can make for next time! But this, this is some of the most beautiful fabric I have seen in my life! The ladies were the nicest people, and the selection was unique and plentiful. This is definitely on my top 5 places in oregon that we visited! The selection is huge for such a small store in a tourist town! I was pleasantly surprised that I saw several very modern fabric lines that I had never seen before and several small pattern companies that I had wanted to look at. I'm updating my review now that I've tried to actually assemble the quilt kit I got from Center Diamond. Obviously, I'm not happy with their store cut product... Nothing like getting home, prewashing and pressing all my fabric and getting ready to cut when you find out that WTF - they didn't cut enough of the fabric. This is not one of those "stingy cut" incidences where a little bit of unraveling and relining of the fabric made it possibly a little shorter - one of the cuts was almost 3 inches too short. Another one was an inch shy. Now I have to go and find the same fabric either at a local shop or somewhere online (and since I only need 1/8 of a yard in most cases and everyone online starts at half a yard, I'm getting way more fabric than I'm going to need). UGH. IRRITATING! I noticed that the girls doing the cutting were REALLY stingy with the cutting (2 yards was as close to 2 yards at the fold line in the bolt as they could get it. If you got an extra inch, they were really charging you for that extra INCH). Look, I'm not saying give fabric away for free, but you should at least make sure that when you're making a quilt kit, you do give the customers enough to finish the projects and you should also make sure when you're measuring fabric that you take into account that fabric on the bolt is not perfectly folded and your cut off the bolts are not going to be perfect and there is about an inch of margin error that you need to account for. I know I'm not the only one who has prewashed fabric and then lined it up to find that guess what - the selvege ends where the cuts were made do not line up! Still a shop where you can find pretty much anything that is sold out in most other places. I'm just not going to buy any kits there and don't recommend them to others either. read more

This is a lovely quilt store, with fabrics nicely arranged, and a good selection of fat quarters and books, to boot. We arrived on a dark and stormy night, so we had the store to ourselves and enjoyed pleasant conversation with the owner. It was a pleasure to find a good range of batiks, novelty fabrics (I found glow-in-the-dark constellations!), local fabrics, Japanese prints, and others. It was fun browsing through, letting the eyes wander. The owner was willing to recommend other stores in the Portland area, as well. I have no complaints about the stock or the service on this visit, and would readily return. read more

Lovely fabric shop!! I'm not even that great of a seamstress, but I was in heaven! I found a small Halloween project that I should be able to complete. :) For a small shop, they have a huge selection of high quality and beautiful fabrics. Prices seemed reasonable. What a wonderful store, and how generous of you folks to offer more fabric to the customer who didn't read the directions and ruined her precut fabric buy trying to pre-shrink it before assembly! If you buy one of the awesome precut kits, don't pre-shrink before assembly. When cared for properly, these fabrics don't shrink. If you must "preshrink", wait until you've assembled the pieces, stay-stitch the outer edges to prevent raveling and wash it lovingly (the way you'd treat your completed quilt - use cool water in your wash and line dry or tumble dry on low.) I get so tired of people not reading directions and then blaming a merchant for their ignorance. On a more positive note - these folks have soooo many lovely batiks, but that's not all - they have mod fabrics, cool patterns and a dangerous assortment of buttons (if you're a knitter, you should visit just for these)! #buttonjunkie. Center Diamond is an absolutely lovely fabric shop! I was warmly greeted when I came in and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of wonderful things tucked into the little coastal gem. Fabric, patterns, books, kits, notions... you name it. I spent about half an hour just trying to narrow down my selections. I'm picky... and I don't have one complaint about this shop.
