Iva, the studio owner, has created a really warm and inviting community at Supermud - full of interesting and talented people. Supermud has been a place for me to relax and make something with my hands instead of staring at a screen all day. I really cannot recommend it highly enough for adults and children.

Came here for a Handbuilding Sampler class and loved it!…read more Prior to this class, my only knowledge of pottery was on theoretical level for wheel and not for handbuilding. The instructor was really nice, helpful and patient. She went through the basic techniques with the class first. And then we were each working on our own pottery/project, she offered great tips and assistance throughout. It was kinda like adult play doh lol After you're done, they would bake your items for you and you get to choose from 4 different colors: Blues (Darker and Lighter), Earthy brown/yellow ish, white. It could take couple weeks for it to be done and then you could pickup. (I think mine took about a week or so.) Also had a tour of the place. This place has a long history and their oven is the old fashioned gas oven opposed the more modern electric ones. As a result, the glaze and color of each batch would vary and therefore produce unique results!

She is a pottery wizard with tons of experience and has a masters in ceramics - no glass in her house! So it's BYOB. Amazing. The two of us brought 1 bottle of champagne and 1 bottle of white; standard. The class was small and only 2 others where there and they also brought booze: ONE bottle of beer. WTF!? I guess they think BYOB means Bring Your One Beer (and share it). Losers. Anyways, the class is awesome and Jamie provides tons of guidance since I haven't done pottery since 2nd grade. You're given as many clumps of clay as you wish with the game plan to skillfully mold it into a perfectly symmetrical vase/pint cup/bowl -- this proved impossible to master, even with my skills. The end result was often missing a chromosome and needed serious help! Even though the finished products were less than stellar, it was a blast to learn how to mold clay into not art. The booze helped and my pandora station was insanely awesome! We didn't sit near the BYOB rookies and that was a big plus. Sucks to suck. Cons: you don't get to fire the finished result or take it home with you at the end. Biggest negative, you're supposed to clean up your station at the end. No thank you! Minus 1 star. I'd go here again and it's a great date spot or place to bring a group of people who know what BYOB means!

What is amazing about this place is that our instructor Maryanne was so thorough. She didnt just give us a 10 min summary and ask us to go off and do our thing., Rather she guided us step by step - and with each step she spoke in detail about that particular step. At the end of the class i felt like i had learnt something, and wanted to pursue this more. I would definitely recommend this place!

Unfortunately the class with the wheel was sold out but we did the clay hand building and it was awesome. You basically get two hours to design your own mug from scratch. The instructor was so nice and sweet and was around to help/answer any questions during this time. Working with the clay wasn't as difficult or messy as I thought it would be and I think we actually got the hang of it pretty fast. At the end of the class you can choose to buy the mug you made for $15 or not. If you choose the former, they will contact you in a month to go pick it up given that they have to dry, fire, and glaze the piece. I think the class its BYOB because one of the couples had a bottle of wine, wish we had known! Overall, I loved it. It makes for a great date and even a fun group outing. I cannot wait to go back and try the wheel workshop soon!

The door was locked and there was no sign or message about the establishment being closed today. Online and on the website it stated that they were open. Very unprofessional. P.s: it's interesting that you canceled the class due to being sick, but you had an interview scheduled for the same time the class was supposed to be held. A young woman showed up a few minutes after we did for an interview that was scheduled for this evening. I find that odd.

There were two instructors who would show the students individually or in small groups the basic steps. Most of us there were making small tapestries, but a few people were focusing on other projects (ex.: pillow cases). It was a really fun experience. Unfortunately, the heat wasn't working in the studio, so it was quite uncomfortable, especially since we needed to have our shoes off to use the looms!

All I wanted to do for my birthday was…read morecraft and relax, and the 2-hour introductory zen weaving class was the perfect way to spend the day. When you walk into the studio, you have to take off your shoes. It is minimalist brightly lit studio, with a wall of the most colorful yarn. It was literally my dream wall. The ambiance is so calming, I didn't want to leave. Our instructor Allie was amazing and so helpful. There were several looms in the room. She showed us how to use the loom, which has a preset already for the intro class, and she showed us some techniques to create different designs. Allie was very accomodating and so sweet. It was pretty easy to get the hang of it, and once I started I didn't want to stop haha. Once I got the hang of it, I was so immersed into the flow of using the loom. It was extremely therapeutic and meditative. I felt like a kid in a candy store choosing what color/texture yarn or other textured fibers to add to my tapestry. The two hours flew by, but I paid a little extra to stay a bit longer. It was worth it. I was happy to be able to take my piece home. 100% want to do it again. They offer many classes. I'm looking forward to taking the advanced classes in the future where you can learn even more techniques. It was so amazing and I loved it so much. I can't wait to come back again!

My friends had set up a private class at Doclay for my bachelorette, which is honestly everything…read morethat I wished for. It was so fun getting to make our first potteries together, and the instructor, Iso was such a vibe; I loved her quirky uplifting spirit. She even made me a cute pottery to take home. She did her best to teach us the basics, but when there's a group of 9 people, I think it's just difficult to tend to everyone, so some people were struggling. I don't think anyone in my party left feeling satisfied with their work. It also sucked that a chunk of our booked time was allotted for cleaning up. It seems like that's the norm for pottery classes, but again, with that many of us, we wasted a lot of time just trying to take turns at the sink to clean up. Still, the experience was not bad at this point. We were excited to see the final results once they were glazed and colored. However, everything went downhill after we left the place. When I went there to pick up the potteries, everything was a mess. It was super difficult trying to find everyone's work admist a bunch of other potteries. With zero organization, it's no wonder they lost my sister's. So, they said they'll try to look for it and if they can't find it, they'll make her a new one. While it's nice that they rectified the situation by offering to make her a new one, that really defeats the purpose of taking the pottery class. Why not just go to the ceramics store instead? It would've been better if they offered to give her a free class to make a new one. At the end of it all, they couldn't find her work, so they made her a new one. But the process to receiving that new one took a while.
