I'm in my mid-sixties, and for most of my life, my body was just a means to transport my head. But…read morewhen overall wear-and-tear began to creep in, I decided to join this neighborhood gym to delay the ravages of time. Since the last time I did weight machines was in the Jack LaLanne/ Bally Total Fitness era, I decided to hire a trainer to give me a kind of orientation and help me launch a fitness routine. Liam came highly recommended. He customizes our sessions to reach my goals, and modifies them as my goals change. Liam knows my medical conditions, which he works with, and weak areas, which he helps me to strengthen. He suggests exercises I feel comfortable doing on my own in the gym, or at home. Liam can point out details of how a position or motion should feel, so I know when I'm doing it correctly. I have the attention span of a flea, yet he designs routines that are challenging and entertaining. He checks in often during a session, yet he can somehow inspire one or two more reps out of me than I believe possible. Befitnyc has a variety of classes which I've just begun to check out, from barre-pilates and tai chi to cross- and interval-training to zumba, all included in the very reasonable cost of membership. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the facilities are clean and well designed for a relatively small space. Best of all, the laid-back, diverse clientele makes me feel like I belong.

5 stars for the class and instructor. This was my first time at the studio using their $15 new…read moreclient pass. The studio however was uncomfortably cold during a Sunday candlelight yin class. It was very cold outside that Sunday and the studio did not seem to have adequate heat coming from radiators. There were small space heaters in the space but they were not doing much. The floor was ice cold. I kept my socks on during class and my toes were still numb. I had to wear my hoodie during the entire class. I also had to lay a blanket over my mat during class. The window in the back was letting in a draft and I could feel it a few feet away. I could not focus on the class and so this class was not as restorative as I would have liked. Unsure if I would come back if this is how unregulated the temperature is all the time. I can only imagine that the summer must be stifling hot. FYI, The studio is up a flight of stairs, if stairs are an issue for you.

Everyone working and attending class are very friendly. They have lots of storage for everyone's personal belongings and an area to freshen up and fill up your water bottle. It feels very clean. Bookings can be done through the MindBody app, which is nice and efficient. I'm excited to continue coming here!
