    Post class hang

Love this new studio in UWS. I had been to their other location in West Harlem, and so excited to see that they opened closer to my home! Can't wait to try out their barre classes.

The same awesome classes as the original studio, in a bigger space. Looking forward to the next location.

Is this anything like bikram yoga, hot?

We are a Vinyasa/Ashtanga based Studio. The classes are kept at 75-85 degrees.

I am a huge fan of Desire's cardio jump board class on Wednesday nights, but I can't always make it, so yesterday, Saturday, I took a 1pm TRX class with Iveta. I had taken the TRX class at moving strength east with Dawn, and it was a great hard class, but moving strength West seems to have a more conducive schedule to my lifestyle. It was a small class of three people and Iveta was very welcoming and asked if we had injuries, which I always like, especially since I have many. She was aware of these throughout the class and as I modified or she suggested modifications we just kept on moving. The class went surprisingly fast considering it was an hour of TRX - that is not always the case. But we moved fast, we mixed it up, from Rows, Low medium and high, to push ups, to mountain climbers to planks to more rows to squats upon squats upon squats. Iveta also had probably the best music mix I have heard in months for any class I've taken it was modern upbeat and loud - maybe that was part of the reason it went fast. Lately I've been taking classes that are silent with no music, and I'm not sure I enjoy it as much. This might've not been the best choice for me, after walking 3 miles over the Queensboro Bridge and having a swollen foot, LOL, but I made it through and I made it through strong. There's some thing about classes that makes me competitive and push through the pain :-). Highly recommend.

Definitely not the most glamorous studio but the attention and care here was great!…read more I took my first Pilates Reformer class here through ClassPass and it was only me and two other girls, so it was very intimate and focused, which I really appreciated as a first-timer. Pilates Reformer was certainly much harder than I expected and probably the most mindful class I've taken in terms of muscle control, flexibility and form (and I've taken barre too) UNFORTUNATELY, my foot decided to cramp 3/4 the way in, so I couldn't finish the rest of the class....lol I was so embarrassed but apparently it's a common problem. sigh Anyways, the bathroom is outside in the hallway, accessed by a key and there's no water station here but they sell bottles for $1.

But…read morewhen overall wear-and-tear began to creep in, I decided to join this neighborhood gym to delay the ravages of time. Since the last time I did weight machines was in the Jack LaLanne/ Bally Total Fitness era, I decided to hire a trainer to give me a kind of orientation and help me launch a fitness routine. Liam came highly recommended. He customizes our sessions to reach my goals, and modifies them as my goals change. Liam knows my medical conditions, which he works with, and weak areas, which he helps me to strengthen. He suggests exercises I feel comfortable doing on my own in the gym, or at home. Liam can point out details of how a position or motion should feel, so I know when I'm doing it correctly. I have the attention span of a flea, yet he designs routines that are challenging and entertaining. He checks in often during a session, yet he can somehow inspire one or two more reps out of me than I believe possible. Befitnyc has a variety of classes which I've just begun to check out, from barre-pilates and tai chi to cross- and interval-training to zumba, all included in the very reasonable cost of membership. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the facilities are clean and well designed for a relatively small space. Best of all, the laid-back, diverse clientele makes me feel like I belong.

I've been to two different instructors and the first just didn't seem to care that much (carrying a latte and sipping it in class while walking around) and another is just saying nonsensical things that don't really resonate with us... Best yoga studio I found in NYC so far. This UWS location is so much cleaner than the UES location…read more This one is also less crowded and there is always a lady that cleans the bathroom, keeping it fresh all the time. The yoga rooms and sitting areas are also very quiet, spacious and serene. Exactly what you would want and expect in a proper yoga studio. The classes are also so much better compare the the others I tried in NYC. Not even equinox or humming puppy can compare as they are always crowded since they try to fit as much people as they can in one room, many times in equinox or humming puppy my neighbors finger tips or sweat would fly by and hit me during yoga moves and the bathrooms are always filthy due to the high numbers of people. Even in Pure Yoga UES, you might get a bit over crowded sometimes, but so far the UWS has been great for me, always clean, serene and lots of space to stretch, meditate and just breathe. The only downside is that it is a bit pricy and often don't offer promotions or membership discounts like the other yoga places, however if you are seeking for a fantastic yoga experience I would say it's too worth it if you are in the UWS area and don't have a yoga studio in your home.
