I live in the neighboring condominium community, and Patty Turner frequently hosts our monthly board meetings. As well, many local city meetings will convene here when the Deerfield Library is overbooked. On occasion, several city and county sponsored day trips will board here. The Patty Turner building also houses the toilet and drinking fountain facilities for Brickyards Park during the spring and summer seasons, where many festivities are hosted (particularly the 4th of July). The Patty Turner Center features plenty of parking, including more than average handicapped parking spots right near the building. The inside of the building is spacious, with many places to sit and offering many amenities to area seniors. Their meeting rooms are also very spacious, offering lots of comfortable seating, and are lovingly decorated. The indoor facilities are all ADA-compliant handicap accessible, and well-maintained. Every area is well lit; most featuring room-wide windows and skylights for natural lighting in the daytime. It's quite apparent Deerfield cares very much for its seniors, based on how much care the Deerfield Park District puts into the Patty Turner Center. I think it's one of the top community features of the whole town.

Unfortunately, because of a health condition he has he wouldn't be able to go to a home where he would be left alone for a typical work day. At first I was sad, but the owner Kelly was upfront and made it clear to me this was for both mine and the dog's sake. The next step: They asked me what I was looking for in a dog, if I had any breeds in mind. Next thing I know I'm in a small room with 5 dogs saying hello. They both explained to me each dog's personality and let me socialize with the dogs midst the chaos. I would have never expected to end up adopting a Chihuahua - but he stole my heart right away. I'm in the middle of a move so could not adopt him until a couple weeks later (but still provided my payment) and they were more than happy to keep him the extra couple weeks until I could pick him up. It's been a very long two weeks, and I'm thrilled to see him this week! Overall it's a great organization with fantastic staff and volunteers. We live in the city of Chicago, but I know that if I ever adopt another dog in the future, I'll be going to Tails of Hope.

They do make exceptions and take in pets that would otherwise be put down at another location as well. To me that was an amazing mission statement. And they are a no kill shelter. Who could ask for a better shelter?! These ladies truly love the animals and provide them with the best care possible as they try and find the perfect families for these animals that have fallen on hard times. My coworkers and I took a group of students here to learn about the animals and the work that goes into running a shelter. Tails of Hope was super accommodating and helped us organize an engaging field trip!

I just placed my first small order at GiveNKind for holiday cards to send to Board members of our…read morenon-profit organization, and I am happy with my order. I received 80 cards for $10 and cannot wait to write on them. Each card is packed in its own plastic sleeve and some are really cute and festive pop-up cards. They are really good quality paper too. I did have to pull several cards that seemed odd or inappropriate but otherwise it was a great deal. It's a little far from my service area to drive to their site in Buffalo Grove, but I look forward to more orders in the future. Note that they only ship on orders of $300 and up. It is not a place for personal use but if you work for or own a 501(c) 3 organization, check this place out for sure. The application process was easy. The staff is also super friendly, helpful and customer service focused. They are helping many non-profits, keeping volunteers active, and keeping items out of our landfills too.

I wanted to start off this review by saying what The Spiritual Forum is, but where to start? What…read moreit is is limitless, really, with respect to the spiritual growth podcast listeners and in-person attendees can get from digging into it. Rev. Carol Saunders, a Unity Minister, started up and leads the weekly, Sunday morning forum. She takes a spiritual topic, puts framework and definition around it and then opens it up to discussion with those in attendance. I've always been used to Sunday church events where the minister presents a lesson at some length, so at first when listening to one of the Forum's podcasts, I felt I might be missing the lesson. But after listening to a few, things clicked, the lesson is there. In the topic presentation, in the perspective those attending bring to the discussion, in the self-inquiry Rev. Carol prompts by posing questions back in response and by the awareness that surfaces in me while openly listening to this all. The Spiritual Forum can be called an alternative to church, and that's not to say there isn't value in traditional Sunday Services. This is another platform and one that can reach a more vast audience. Some attendees have Unity backgrounds, others do not, it doesn't matter here, all are welcome. To an extent, spiritual development springboards from awakening, developing awareness and maintaining that awareness. The spiritual topics addressed in the forum are practical; they are ones that tie in with our daily lives. Forums like this are a rare find - I haven't come across anything similar to this yet. If you live in the area and can attend in person, check it out in person sometime - be a part of the positive energy there and take advantage of the opportunity to connect with others on the path.

I had a full tri bike clean and re-build (over $500), and the crank bolt loosens with every ride and my brake quick release won't close. They didn't tighten my saddle bolt and it shifted me off my bike mid-ride. My husband has taken flats here 4 TIMES in 2 months, and they keep busting due to improper tube installation. Took it to Trek and it hasn't given him a problem in a year. We would recommend you look elsewhere for repairs. I can't speak to their bike sales.
