I work close by so I tend to stop in a couple days a week. I usually stop in to check out their art work/framed decor. They have a huge selection. A couple aisles full of the stuff. Unfortunately, it's all priced so high. So it just sits there and gets damaged over time because it's hard to move them around due to the over abundance. I asked the manager why something so ugly and low quality could be priced at 25 dollars. She apologized and said they had been trying a AI pricing method that hadn't worked out. At least they know it's not working out. Things like picture frames and decor needs to get priced at 2-5 dollars to keep it moving. People just donate so much of it. They need to work on those prices. It's a bit outrages. read more

Above average Goodwill store with plenty of parking and traffic flow that helps to avoid cross traffic even when it's a bit busier. Being located inside a shopping center helps to give some additional parking as well if needed. The store has better than average selection, particularly on electronics and books. I also find more items of clothing that I like here and a good selection of costumes. I feel that the pricing here also make it a bit easier to find excellent deals, though some of the holiday items feel like they're priced a bit high. The store is large enough to provide a good amount of space to browse. Checkout is quick and efficient and setup logically. read more

This location is large yet organized which I appreciate the employees working hard to keep everything clean. They have a large variety of items and I found everything I was looking for and some. I love the flow of the store and they have outlets near the electronics so you can test out before you buy since there are no returns. The prices are super reasonable and they do a fantastic job of putting out quality items. During check out I had a few items that had no tags and the employee worked swiftly to get someone to price them for me. I definitely thought I was going to spend a lot more but I got about 20 items for less than $60 which surprised me. I love this location and will make more trips here. Not sure if my wallet will hate me or love me for it. read more

Twice at this location I've had items snatched out of my cart. Pricing is decent but other shoppers behavior here is unacceptable.

I was dropping off donations. Twice I went inside to get a blue bin and both times filled it up and returned it inside. There was no employee to take my donations. I don't ask for a receipt but if I did there was no one there to give one. I could have also gone inside to take items but I'm not that person. For security's sake you should have an employee there. read more

Like they say "One man's Junk is another man's treasure" never were truer words spoken then stores like Goodwill. Stores like Goodwill serve a purpose 1) It allows you to donate and clear things out of your house that you no longer want or need (ie. Your junk) 2). By perusing the store you can potentially find something of value to yourself. (Ie. Someone else's junk lol) Sometimes you really need to have the time & patience to find something that you want, but you can find some great deals One of the items I usually go to is the book section to look for paperbacks from specific authors that I enjoy reading. Have been making donations here for many years. Disappointed when they stopped taking furniture.

It's a rare day when I walk out of a thrift store without a single thing. A little disappointed by this location. Not a great selection of items. 2/3 of the store is clothes. The back 1/3 of the store is a hodgepodge of junk. No hidden treasures or items that make you double take before adding to your cart. There are a lot of outdated items that look like remnants from grandma's estate sale. read more

Goodwill in Northbrook Il. Is The worst costumer service shop. The manager Maria is absolutely rood and disrespectful. She is arguing with costumers and discussing them with other salespeople in Spanish. What kind of example she is providing to the other staff? I used to come often to shop there, but because the atmosphere in store is very uncomfortable I prefer to go to Glenview goodwill where staff is nicely trained. My daughter and I ventured out to this location in Northbrook to compare it to our store in Skokie and we loved this one too! It's huge! And very well organized. We easily found 10 pieces in under an hour and this time only spent $50! I was really happy. The only downside was that when the cashier put in my phone number, I didn't come up in their rewards program, which is supposed to be affiliated with our Skokie store. She enrolled me there, but this was disappointing as I only needed a few more points for a reward on the other one. But other than that, our experience was great. read more

I used to love goodwill wherever I lived, but more and more Goodwill is Greedwill and I absolutely believe they have lost their original purpose. They were meant to help poor people afford clothes because they can't afford retail prices. People donate this stuff for free and greedwill is pricing themselves out of business. People PLEASE donate to salvation army Goodwill is no longer helping anyone but themselves. They don't care about helping they only care about stuffing their own pockets now. Do not donate your cars to them either, I personally know for a fact they sell the cars, they DO NOT help moms or dads with the cars to get to jobs. They are total frauds. read more

You had me at hello... From the moment I walked in and turned the corner, there it was, the trench coat for $10 that called out my name. I tried it on, and it was literally the perfect size (I mean perfect), and it ended up being the fastest shopping purchase made all year! The truth is, I wasn't even in the market for another jacket and stopped in for a couple things for a work event I was hosting. I needed a shirt for a costume and clear bowls for some dessert treats. No sooner than 15 minutes later, I found the perfect costume shirt for $6 and two really nice glass bowls for $2 each (so much cheaper than plastic bowls from the grocery store). I always stop at Goodwill first when I'm looking for decor or other items for a work event. Every single time I luck out and ask myself why I don't come back more often to look around. I mean...even for the dishes alone! Aside from great bargains, it feels really good to shop there. Aside from the Goodwill mission, there's always the recycling aspect. Why buy new? read more

Very convenient location for dropping off your donations. It is at the intersection of Dundee and Sanders, in a strip mall. There are vacant stores around so there are plenty of parking spots available, several are even designated for the donation drop-off. The entry for the drop-off center is to the right side of the store itself. The workers here are helpful and meet you promptly to assist you and offer the receipt. I have not been inside of the store but by the looks from the outside, it is spacious and clean. read more

Disappointing experience today. Had more than 15 bags of clothing -- the whole car was filled. Normally I pull up and someone comes to help. Instead I had to go inside and look for someone -- there weren't even carts available. Then the guy who comes to help me acts like I've put him out. Sighing up a storm. When we get to my car, he just stands there. Doesn't help me one bit in getting everything out of the car -- please. Don't let me interrupt your day. read more

This business is so important for the fact of reduce reuse recycle! I support all resale shops and while I prefer local businesses in general if you are going to have a chain this is the chain to have. There are happily always a lot of people shopping and whether that's because they like the fun of shopping for vintage/used clothing or house goods to have a funky fun style, whether they want to save money or can't afford full priced items, or whether they want to support the reuse of items so they don't go in a landfill and cut back on new items being produced I don't care. All of these reasons work for me. Whatever people shop at resale shops for keep it up! Buying used items is huge in helping the environment whether this is your reason or not it's my reason and it's at the heart of all that I try to do and think about. This company also provides good social programs and way back when got my great grandma a job! The place is organized well, has 50% off sales on different colored tags each week, a senior discount, other random discounts. So save even more! The only issues I have is sometimes things are randomly priced way too high but no big deal I just won't buy that item. Also please please encourage people to not get plastic bags for their purchases and encourage people to bring reusable bags. Give a small extra discount for bringing your own bags like grocery stores do. There's way too much use of plastic bags and packaging materials all of which are new and damaging to the planet and starts to defeat the purpose of buying used and helping the environment in the first place. read more

I swung by Saturday at noon with 11 boxes worth to donate. I parked in one of the donation spots in front and was assisted by two sweet staff members who helped 38w pregnant me get everything unloaded quickly and efficiently. It was a win/win, I offloaded a ton of goodies (clothes, extra hand me down baby stuff, dishes and electronics) freeing up room for all the new baby stuff, while donating to a charitable cause. This was my first time donating here, and it was a great experience. I'm already looking forward to finding more to give! read more

This is a huge Goodwill with a vast selection of women's clothing. I just went here and bought two cute summer dresses for $5 a piece. An awesome steal considering one of the dresses still had its original Forever 21 tag on it and the other dress looked like it had never been worn! Nice store with very nice employees! Most of clothes were name-brands and a number of clothes and shoes were labeled "Made in Italy". I felt that I should say Oo-la-la (or however you say that in Italian), but really, I don't know if this is something to be impressed over. Anyway, employees kept approaching me and asking if I needed any help or if I needed a cart. After being offered a cart about 4 times, I gave in and agreed. I always forget to review this place and end up coming back. But this is a reminder to myself that it isn't worth the gas money. You would think in the neighborhood it is in and near that there would be more treasures to be found. This location has in my experience 100% junk. Everything is picked over and in my opinion, should not be resold in the condition it's in. That goes for both clothes and home ware. I did not go through the books or the record so I cannot speak for that. I'm Giving it to stars because maybe I came on an off day. Visited this location on a Sunday. Lots of square footage and more than a lot of other Goodwill stores. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything that was special. There's just more of the same stuff that I find... lots of clear glass items, clothes not special, appliances that we never know if it works,shoes, purses and it goes on. Oh and the other Goodwill stores that I go to still pack things for you in bags or boxes. If you need a box, you have to pay for it!! Hmmm lots of things that could fit in a box means more cash flow for the store. Guess they don't think so at this location . I have no reason to go back again!! read more

I cannot believe I just wrote that only because most people would never say that but I am proud to say that I love to shop in vintage and consignment stores as well as shop at bloomingdale's! I have such a wide variety taste of fashion and especially love a great bargain... I mean come on, who doesn't?! I have only been here two times in the last 3 weeks that I have been living in Chicago but since I live in the city but commute for work to Vernon Hills (and yes, it is a very long commute but I am liking it now) because I always pass this Goodwill everyday 5x a week therefore I decided to stop in last week then stopped in again two nights ago and I found the following items : 1. 3 Ann Taylor dress pants 2. 1 Tahari grey metallic skirt 3. 1 Ann Taylor cream crochet pencil skirt 4. 3 fitted cobalt blue, hot pink, and a cream riding jacket 5. Tan leather satchel cross body purse 6. 1 Banana Republic grey pencil skirt 7. 10 hardcover books (Glamour Magazine Cooking book, Wicked, 1956 Goodhouse Keeping recipe book, and etc) 8. Tory Burch black heels (and yes, this was the Goodwill in Northbrook so come on, it is not fake and I own lots of Tory Burch items and can tell what is fake and what is not!) 9. DKNY Brown down winter knee coat with fur trim top and even more... for only $71! Seriously, for all that?! What a steal! :) read more

As an avid resale/consignment/thrift shopper, I have to say that this Goodwill location is my favorite one, BY FAR! I know value when I see it, and generally speaking, Goodwill is IT! What I especially love about this location is the fact that it is very clean and organized, the staff are helpful and friendly, and the prices and selection cannot be beat! As other Yelpers have mentioned, the neighborhood/town in which the store is located plays a huge role in how good the merchandise is. This place has quality merchandise and low prices, whereas some other locations have so-so merchandise and high prices (case in point: Lake Zurich store charges at least $6.99 for ANYTHING that has a Banana Republic label, regardless of quality or style-- let's be honest, BR is nice, but $6.99 for t-shirt.. really!?) Here are some examples of what I snagged on my most recent trip to this store for a bill of about 35 bucks: - Single-button DKNY Blazer, $6.99 (same blazer would retail for $400+) - Nine West snakeskin stilettos, $4.99 (don't worry, the price was still on and I sanitized the crap out of 'em before wearing!) - 2 pairs of Michael Kors dress pants - 2 Loft skirts - Guess button-up corset dress - Numerous tops from the Loft, Banana, Gap, etc. My BFF and I spent at least 3 hours on that trip, and she walked out with a couple of stuffed bags for about $50. We must have spent at least an hour trying on our cart full of clothes, and the lady working the dressing rooms was really sweet and helpful the whole time. For the most part, I loathe moving. I do however, love the feeling of going through all my belongings and creating a mammoth pile of things to donate. Goodwill has made this process even easier! This location is pretty close to J's office, so we loaded up the car on Thursday night and stopped by Goodwill on Friday afternoon. Follow the signs in the parking lot to the donation center. Park by the curbside signs. Someone will come out to your car with a blue bin. Place all your stuff inside, get your tax receipt thing, and be on your way. So effortless! read more

This is one of the nicer Goodwill stores in the area, and their donation drop-off section is often well staffed. Some of the other locations aren't nearly as nice, so I genuinely appreciate the effort taken at the Northbrook location. It's easy to find, either from Dundee or Sanders, as it's the biggest store in the shopping center now that Caputo's has closed. Despite always being pretty busy, with many shoppers rummaging through everything, the store merchandise is kept pretty tidy. The store is also maintained and always very clean. All of their prices are pretty reasonable, and you'll find some really nice gems here and there. That's the nicest thing about this location - its proximity to some pretty wealthy suburbs. It's not uncommon to find some pretty-new name brand clothes, quality electronics, business equipment, and premium kitchen items among the usual thrift store goodies. The folks working the store are all really nice and helpful. The lines at checkout can sometimes get a little long, but the cashiers work really quick and can move everyone through quickly. Every time I go to donate stuff, there's an attendant handy, and plenty of carts. They make donating a lot less difficult, and I appreciate getting a printed receipt that's much easier to file. I've been to a lot of thrift stores, and Goodwill locations, and this is definitely one of the better ones out there. You won't always strike gold, but - if you keep checking back periodically - you can score some great deals every so often. read more

It's been hit or miss for me at this location because I look for very specific items. First time, I left with nothing after scouring the racks thoroughly (not their fault that I'm picky). Second time, I made out like a bandit and left with tons of name-brand, gently used and NWT clothing. Third time, didn't score much but I DID get an awesome black Franklin Covey leather bag with baby blue lining for $9.99 and a new pair of Dr. Scholl's lime-green Original Wood Exercise Sandals ($64.99 on their website) for $4.99 so the trip was totally worth it. Staff are friendly, store is clean and well organized. I list this location as my third favorite, after Glendale Heights and Carol Stream. read more

The store is brand new, roomy, organized and the employees are friendly. But..being in such a good neighborhood, I expected better merchandise. I guess, I am still searching for that "It" item...you know..that Chanel bag someone accidentally found..or that that Burberry Trench..I know, I know, in my dream world! But it does happen, so I will keep searching..
