We had a great experience at the Center for Integrative Counseling (C4IC) for my teen. We had been referred by our PCP's group to a practice further away than we'd like and I have to admit, I do base even Mental Health practices on convenience and their bill rate. The other practice seemed expensive and was booking very far out and I wanted my child seen sooner & closer. A friend gave me the name of this practice after having been pleased, so I emailed to 3 of the team at C4IC matching our needs, I specified my type of insurance and needs, two of the three immediately got back to me within a few hours and the other by the end of the day indicating if the other 2 hadn't helped me already who the practice manager was.
I got information on accepted insurances and bill rates, was able to compare to the other practice's rate and book sooner at C4IC. Then I even waffled a bit because I thought my referral required me to stay with the first practice, but upon learning I could go anywhere I got back in touch with an excellent counselor at C4IC who we absolutely clicked with. She documented a care plan, goals and follow up. Beyond a great connection and experience she has provided us with helpful information sheets and other resources. I have recommended her to others who were also very pleased, even when it required a referral on to others better suited for their needs.
We continued seeing the provider for a regular period and improved significantly. Now we just check in periodically to ensure we're staying on track. Over the course of my adulthood and raising children, we've seen our fair share of counselors and this counselor and our experience with the practice has been one of the best. The friend who referred us sees someone else who they have been pleased with. Two other friends see someone there who is well-regarded as an expert in ADHD treatment in the area. While I understand a prior reviewer had issues, I have not interacted with anyone in the waiting area who seemed displeased for having to wait or how the appointments were run, but then again most people I've encountered in the waiting room are cordial and keep to themselves (I've seen people I am acquainted with and we just dodge eye contact & stay buried in our book/magazine). I haven't seen anyone seeming to be annoyed or waiting excessively. More often I have counselors come out while I'm waiting for my teen & asked if I've been waiting for a counselor or inquiring if I'm their new client they are waiting for.
Last comment that I almost don't want to mention, one of the counselors had a small dog that is SOMETIMES there - I saw a young girl who just lit up on seeing the dog and another time a mom mentioned that her child was going to be delighted the dog was there that day for her appointment. That is not the provider we see, haven't seen the dog often so I'm not saying they offer 'pet therapy' but it certainly did make a difference for two of the clients going there. Truly this has been our best, most angst-free counseling experience in 20+ yrs. At the risk of her being so booked we can't see her easily - Emily there has been amazing and a life saver! read more
