The director was extremely knowledgeable, happy, and excited to talk about the artists she features. She was very knowledgeable about the process the artists' use to create the paintings showcased. She herself is a customer of a few of these artists, giving her the ability to speak on how the pieces personally affect her and the guests she invites into her home. What I really appreciated about the director was how protective she is about her artists' work. She does not allow any photography in the gallery and keeps a careful eye on the works displayed so that artists aren't unfairly copied. Her knowledge of and fierce devotion to the artists in this gallery really made an impression on me and puts this gallery as a top favorite. I would return and purchase works of art from this gallery.

My girlfriend and I recently visited Gallery Rue Toulouse in Carmel on Saturday, September 5, 2026,…read moreat approximately 12:30 p.m. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. When we entered the gallery, we observed an older Caucasian woman, who appeared to be a staff member, standing at the register and conversing with two older Caucasian male customers who were leaning against the register area. As my girlfriend and I walked through the gallery viewing the artwork, we approached a section of art located behind the register area. It is important to note that this is an open gallery space, and there were no barriers, signs, or other indications that visitors were prohibited from walking through that area. As we were looking at the artwork, the staff member suddenly spoke to us in a loud and aggressive tone, saying, "Ugh, excuse me, you cannot walk behind me." She then attempted to block our path and added, "You know what, just go. You're there already anyway," while rolling her eyes before returning to her conversation with the two men. As we continued looking at the artwork, she then stated, "I already have PTSD. You never know when these people are going to put a gun to your head," and proceeded to laugh with the two men she had been speaking with. My girlfriend and I were shocked and confused by these comments. We were the only people of color in the gallery at the time, and both of us are Mexican. What made the interaction particularly concerning was that the two men had been standing directly alongside the register without issue, yet we were treated as though our presence behind the register area was suspicious or threatening despite there being no indication that the area was restricted and what I find funny is little does she know I am in law enforcement. The comment about not knowing when "these people" might "put a gun to your head" felt especially inappropriate and alarming given the context. Whether intended or not, it left us feeling singled out, unwelcome, and uncomfortable as the only people of color in the gallery. We visited the gallery expecting to enjoy and appreciate the artwork, but instead left feeling disrespected and disturbed by the behavior we experienced. We hope gallery management takes these concerns seriously and ensures that all visitors are treated with courtesy, professionalism, and respect.

Judith at the Main Street gallery showed us around and gave us some great information and then walked us up to their other building (about 2 blocks up the street) where we met her husband who was running that portion of the gallery. Beautiful art here. I found a new favorite sculptor and many more artists. Definitely stop by. There is a multitude of art styles so your bound to find something that fits your fancy.

I was very impressed with the large ocean photos images in this gallery, they must be at least 7ft…read morex? ft. They are simple, just water and sky. This photographer must have spent years at the ocean's edge to capture so much variety of light and color. I have no idea what these beauties might have cost. I just enjoyed the looking at them. The stone sculptor exhibit complimented the ocean edge images and the other large images on the walls. The dogs that work in the gallery are good looking and well behaved. The people in the gallery seem nice.
