When I entered BP we were in search for a quick lunch but was pleasantly surprised to see the selection and display quality of seafood, spices, sweet jams and sauces and desserts. Everything was very nicely displayed behind large see-through glass displays and they had an excellent selection of both fresh and frozen. Also, they had an amazing selection of prepared seafood salads. In the back of the Poissonnerie is a lunch restaurant with a little menu of seafood based items. Giddy with excitement I ordered the Fish and chips trio $12.95 (shrimp, cod and scallops). It came in a very nice light batter and the chips were crisp and light. You could really taste the freshness of the seafood but I was a bit disappointed with the serving size. A little on the smaller side! My work colleague ordered the seafood soup and he was a bit disappointed of the serving size also. However the taste and quality was quite good! Now onto the seafood. I brought back some "famous" Matane shrimp, fresh snow crab (season just started last week), seafood salad and tuna tartar. I planned my pickup in the night time just before 7:00 PM closing. As I have been to the store's at closing time the staff is usually more interested in going home than providing customer service but this was an exception. The two different women helping me were extremely courteous and provided attentive polite service! I was impressed to say the least! They pack your seafood in styrofoam coolers with ice and I was planning on eating it 24 hrs later. When I opened the box it still had some ice! Wow! If I lived in Matane I'd come here weekly but alas I'm more than 600 KM away. Looking forward to my next visit.

We parked across the street from the bar and it was max 2-hour parking. I'm not sure if it's the same on other streets. The place: So from what I gathered, they have two places (next door to each other). I think one is bar/beer only while the one we went to also serves food (don't quote me on that 'cause I might be wrong). Anyway, it's a typical pub/bar vibe, casual, cozy. The goods: we went twice because the first time was just too good. We stopped in for dinner on the night we got to Matane, and ordered the fish and chips. The fish was delicious and fresh, the crust was perfect - crispy but not oily at all. The skinny fries were great and the sangria I ordered was refreshing and tasty. I went back today and ordered the shrimp guedille, served with fries. It was great. I tried the cheese cake and it was amazing - super soft and creamy, not like the usual cheesecake. The folks I was with on both occasions, loved their meals as well. Service: Friendly. Price point: It can be a little on the pricey side, but I think it's worth it. If you're in the area, definitely check these guys out.

THE BEST POUTINE! I…read moregrew up around Quebecois family and now that I live out of the country, when I get the opp to have poutine, I can only wish it is within La Belle Province, and especially from this little gem of a resto! The portions are immense, so either make sure you're super hungry or sharing with someone else. The fries are spot-on cooked to perfection, the gravy is just right (not too salty, not too liquidy) and of course the best part is the fresh squeaky cheese curds! And they are not shy about how much of this yummy white cheese they put on the portions. If you have never had a real poutine made with real squeaky cheese curds, then you're just plain missing out. We opted for the original creation, altho this location does offer alllllll kinds of poutine creations. My brother is a big guy (6'4") and a big eater, but he could barely finish his large order. He lives in Western Canada and stated that "they don't know what they're doing out there!" after eating this traditional Quebecoise poutine! I had a small and it was just right for my appetite. The eat-in space is small but cozy and not meant for a lengthy stay. The area is kept clean and tidy. Parking is okay, but can be sparse since the adjoined parking lot is small-ish. Good thing they offer drive-thru service, which our family use and prefer. Their feedback is that this mode of take away is always fast, friendly and delicious. Wheelchair accessible spaces. Bathroom is clean. Kudos to the VERY kind and VERY efficient team members who were working when we popped into the resto. They were willing to try their best at speaking English with my brother. He appreciated that! Merci! Thank you! This is the best of 4 poutine places we've tried in during our visits to Quebec, and it is ranked as number 1 in our experience!
