Extremely unprofessional and rude service -- by Tim and Jashan I was just at this location and had an incredibly frustrating experience that absolutely needs to be addressed. I provided two valid forms of ID to the cashier: a government-issued driver's license with a photo, and my MSP card. I fully understand that two pieces of ID are required, with at least one containing a photo -- and that's exactly what I provided. My driver's license fulfilled the photo requirement, and the MSP card was offered as the second piece. Still, I was told that the MSP card was not acceptable. What made the situation worse -- and frankly, unacceptable -- was the rude and dismissive attitude from the cashier. Instead of calmly explaining the reasoning behind the policy, he repeatedly said, "Give me a debit or credit card", as if that was the only valid option. I was simply trying to understand how a credit card, which has no photo or government affiliation, was considered acceptable -- but a government-issued health card was not. That makes no logical sense, and I was not arguing, just asking a basic, reasonable question. Rather than answering or attempting to explain, he shut me down, talked over me, and refused service. I wasn't being aggressive or confrontational -- I was being respectful, and just trying to understand the logic. I've worked in retail sales myself, and I know how hard the job is and how important it is to treat a fellow worker with respect. I would never speak to someone the way I was spoken to today. Unfortunately, both Tim and Jashan showed zero professionalism, no customer service skills, and no interest in resolving the situation respectfully. I even pointed out that I've been a regular customer here for a long time and offered to pull up my info. I even made a light-hearted comment about how much money I've spent here (I have coming to this place for the last 3 years). That, too, was ignored. I was treated as if I had no standing or value as a customer, and frankly, it felt humiliating. And to be clear -- I am not some drug addict from Whalley. I am a paying, respectful customer, and I expect to be treated accordingly. Today, I was not. One final note to management: Tim should absolutely not be in a customer-facing role. He clearly lacks the communication skills and attitude required to deal with people respectfully. Perhaps he's better suited to stocking coolers in the back where he won't be pushing long-time customers away. I would genuinely appreciate the opportunity to speak directly with the owner about this. Very disappointed to see they jacked up their prices like the store had been magically transported to Rodeo Drive! Hardly worth the trouble visiting as, gone are the sales prices and even comparable deals to government stores! Lack of other shoppers was also a major clue. (September 2024 visit) read more

This place is awesome for number of reasons. Its open late everyday, it has huge collection of all kinds of liquor, staff is too friendly n there is always one or the other promotion / deal to steal. As this place is centrally located so easily accesible . There is lot of parking at the backside. I dont drink but this place always comes handy to grab a bottle of wine to gift. read more

If you are looking for a great place to pick up craft beer this is a great place to look in Surrey! There are only really two to three good places to get craft beer in Surrey and they are spread out. Central City has a craft beer selection to rival some of its Vancouver counterparts. It is also really easy as it is so close to the Sky Train station. The liquor store does also carry all the boring beer brands that everyone should ignore. They also have a full selection of wine, spirits and coolers. So I went into the store this evening which I've been too many times with no issue. Tonight I run into this bigger blonde who seemed to be manager/cash supervisor . Not sure who you'd classify her as with such poor people skills... I carry my passport and my bank cards and things with my signature and somehow denied. Other times at this location I've never dealt with this. My main form I use is my passport and sin card if I don't have anything else ...as it's what I use to travel. But for some reason this girl has a stick up her butt and denies me completely. This is a place I frequent as well... not sure how bars and every where else accepts it but as soon as this girl comes she's a total see you next Tuesday. I'm not even from Surrey either ... lol somebody should teach that girl some managerial skills... also for some reason this girl was hanging out by some cars before this all happened looks shady to me read more

Terrible customer service!!. Was refused service because my companion wasn't carrying ID. We are both 40. I was making the purchase for another occasion and my companion was making no purchase at all. We were refused service and asked to leave. Absolutely ridiculous. Will never return. Nice that they have a great selection of alcohol. However the service was HORRIBLE!! Came in here with a group of friends who just finished having dinner at the pub next door and decided to grab a bottle to end the night. As one of us was paying, a chick yelled, "NEXT!!" twice!! Like we didn't hear her the first time, we told her we were with the guy already paying for the alcohol. Then she gave us attitude as if it was the law for everyone who came in there is obligated to buy a bottle each. "Really? All six of you for one bottle?!... Actually 8?" This place has great selection, and I supported them almost daily since I moved to Surrey two months ago, dropping close tot $40 a day. As I used to work in a liquor store, I know that employees rely on their tips - and so I always tip between $1-$2 each time I go through the till. Last week, I arrived with close to 90 empty cans. I was told that they only take back 24 at a time, and would not make an exception. I was confused, because one of the other fellows had returned 60 cans the week before, when I brought back 4 15 packs of Granville Island beer. He never said a word about a limit. The girl got quite rude, and told me that if anyone took that many cans from me, they would have told me that they were making an exception. She was under no circumstances willing to make an exception for me. Now, this wouldn't have been so frustrating had I been driving, but the fact that I was on foot, on top of the fact that I know that particular employee has had a lot of tips out of me - made me very angry. I swore at her, and she told me to leave (I was already on my way out). No customer deserves to be told they are a liar. Since she's been there a long time, she should know who I am, she should also know that I never bring in empties. In two months, I returned a total of 60 cans, ONCE. I later wrote to management, apologized for swearing at the employee, but expressed my concern with being treated like a liar and a nuisance. I have never heard back from the management. Apparently they don't return emails, regardless of how much money one has spent, nor even to acknowledge the fact that I apologized for swearing at their staff member (which most irate customers would never do). All in all - this is a crappy business that doesn't believe in fair trade. Fair trade would have been returning my empties as an exception, and maintaining a customer friendly atmosphere. Instead, for spending hundreds of dollars, I was called a liar, treated like a nuisance, yelled at and kicked out of their store because I rejected being treated like a piece of trash. FACT 1: I worked at a liquor store for years, and we took back 10 flats at a time. It never occurred to me that any liquor store would have a 24 return limit FACT 2: In 2 months, I could have brought this business 1440 empties at 24 cans per day, and they would have found space for all of them. I only ever returned 60 cans, and for the sake of 90 cans - they have lost business from 4 people (myself included) who refuse to support now. FACT 3: I don't have a problem with the 24 can limit - I have a problem with being called a liar, and having a staff member treat me like a nuisance after I have supported the business and tipped the staff. FACT 4: This place won't miss me, because they are in a busy location - but I'm sure the rest of the staff members will, because most customers don't tip, and even fewer tip $1-$2 every time they go through the till. read more

I loved this store for many years and felt very disregarded tonight when I asked about price hike for jack daniel from $31.90 to $35.70 which is over $3 dollers but the cashier Marilyn insisted that she does not remember it being $31.90 and insisted it's been only a dollar more than what it was before. I told her that I remember because I always purchased here. She says, 'okay'. What a 'b...ch', no regards to customer's questions. I am a customer service engineer. I consider this type of behavior as if you don't value your customer's opinion. I go here only because it opens till 11 pm and the price is low compared to other non-governmental liquor stores but when it is over $3 and get this kind of shit from the cashier, it does not encourage me to go there any more. Either I will go to government liquor or go to any other rather than seeing this cashier. I have seen couple of times some customer yelling to this girl and I did not know why but now I do.
