Only liquor store around open before 10 AM which is great when you need to grab something for a last minute event on the way into work.

But it's got such a great selection of bottles, including lots of delicious choices from BC. I often stop by looking for a bottle to accompany a meal and the staff is always on hand to answer any wine-related questions. They're helpful, but not pushy and don't judge you in the way you know you're often judged by snooty oenophiles. A great way to buy wine is to taste it first, which makes Thursday (and sometimes Friday) the best afternoon to drop by Lennox. They host a wine tasting at the counter. While you're at the counter, look up ... way up on the shelves and you'll find a great selection of dessert wines from BC. Dessert wines (especially coveted ice wines) make excellent boozy presents. If you're traveling and want to take a bottle to thank your host, ice wine is just a small bottle and easy to pack!

They are well worth supporting. They are trusting that the lower prices will bring in enough people to make up for their low margin and so far it seems to be working for them. I hope it continues to do so, so give them your business! City Square might seem like a pain for parking, but there are several 15 minute spots off of Ash street outside so you don't have to go into the underground parking. Great selection of craft and import beer.. I like a good selection of quality inexpensive wines and they get two big thumbs up for that. They even sell mead and Sea Cider.

I'm a fan since this place meets all 2 criteria I have: 1) close to the hotel (just a block away…read morefrom the Holiday Inn) and 2) has screw top wines! I don't travel with a wine opener, so being able to pick up a bottle that's a screw top is very convenient. This store was clean and well organized. The store is small but packs a lot of selection. There is a wine section in the back that offered bottle of reds between $10-$20. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, so the options were right up my alley. I went with a bottle of Cono Sur Bicicleta, a Cabernet Sauvignon (Wine of Chile 2012) for $14. It's medium-bodied, dry and fruity. You might find it cheaper at LCBO, but not by much. The label reads: A deep plum red with aromas of red fruit, cassis, black plums, and soft spices, together with a fruity, structured palate. Goes well with strong cheese, hearty stews and grilled cuts of beef.

They have a big bank of fridges with all the usual suspects ready for your enjoyment. The staff is friendly and they check you through quickly, even if there's a line up on Friday evening. However, it's not a great place to buy wine. The selection is all pretty cheap stuff - and not the cheap stuff that was chosen wisely because they're diamonds in the rough. Most of the wines here are cheap and taste like it. I'm a girl who's always shopping for a delicious bottle for under $15, so I've drank my share of cheap wines. I have my favourites and they aren't for sale here. The do accept bottle returns in the back. So if you live near here you can recycle up to 24 bottles in a visit.

We were fortunate enough to snag a tiny one by the pool tables but it wasn't big enough for food and drinks so we ended up moving before ordering food. We shared a small plate of nachos and a chicken wrap with fries. I don't recommend the guacamole, as it wasn't very fresh and just had a weird texture. The food was very average in my opinion. At least they have a decent beer list. They had karaoke and there was a steady stream of people waiting to take their turn on the microphone. Those folks were much braver than me, that's for sure. I love that they still have pull tab machines, those are always going to take some of my money, if for nothing else but the nostalgia. I ended up winning a few bucks, so that added to the overall positive experience. Service was ok - there seemed to be a bit of confusion over who our server was, but once that was resolved, we had no issues. It was fairly loud but not so much that we couldn't still carry on a conversation. I'd probably go back, because there are not too many places in the area that still have a pool table.
