I was so hopeful that Central Coast Shuttle would be my new way to travel from Santa Maria to LAX, since I live in that area. The shuttle was in bad need of updating. (The vans in the photo below, is not what we rode in either way) The shocks or gears... whatever, I felt beat up on during the trip down and back. For that price, the vans could be upgraded to be a more comfortable ride for 4 hours of travel. The gentleman who drove down was very nice/respectful of people taking this early morning shuttle. The gentleman who drove us back... never introduced himself. We were picked up at 6:00 p.m. It took 45 mins more before leaving the airport. According to the schedule, we were due to arrive in Ventura at 7:00 and due into Santa Maria at 9:45. We arrived 10:45 p.m.. It was a rickety, nosey ride. The music was loud mexican/rap music filled with static. When it is 9:00 p.m., and after a day of travel, most people are trying to wind down. At the end of the trip, most people were pretty rattled and the driver received few tips. A few of us were waiting for our rides and he came up to me and asked if I had tipped him. I quietly said, "Not this time"! Would recommend going a touch further to Goleta to take the Santa Barbara Airbus. Less money, wonderful smooth ride, quiet and peaceful. Very professional. So I called this shuttle service to ask some basic questions about how the service works. Like how much it costs. ...time pickups. ...ect. The totally lame gal that answered the phone was worthless. I eventually just hung up on her. It was as if I was annoying her time. Like pulling teeth to get an answer from her. She has no business talking to customers. Warning - this business will do anything to keep your money and not give you a refund! This is the third time I have been taken by them (you would think i would learn) but this was the most egregious. We booked 4 roundtrips six weeks in advance for $552. When there was a change in flight times 3 days later I cancelled the reservation - of course there was a 10% cancelation fee - even weeks out. Ten days later, no credit. Called again, oops, they forgot. The woman said she would refund me - $468. I questioned that and was told besides the 10% fee, there were airport fees that they had already paid - on a trip six weeks away. I pointed out that seemed unlikely and all I got, it's our policy ma'm, I can't do anything about that m'am. I pointed out that that second fee was not anywhere on my paperwork - that's our policy ma'm. She was very rude, very condescending and finally said "I can cancel your refund and you can take it up elsewhere if you like!" I have contacted my credit card company, I will never deal with this company again!!! read more

When I first saw these reviews I was a little hesitant about booking this shuttle. However, I hate driving to and especially from LAX especially after a long flight. So for $128 round trip from Santa Maria Airport (which has a security guard, free parking, and has very good lighting at night) I thought I would try it just once. My drive down was on the bigger shuttle with Rick the driver. He's very chatty and tries to keep people entertained. No loud music blaring, good temperature of the van, just a bit bumpy along the way. I do agree that the shuttles could get better suspenders so it's not so bumpy, but it's wasn't a big deal for me. During the drive down we made 2 stops to pick ppl up and then stopped at a nice gas station to get snacks and use the restroom. We made it to LAX 15 minutes early! SCORE!! The trip back I rode in a van with 5 other passengers. He picked me up on-time, however he had to make 2 loops around LAX which burned 25 minutes and we didn't leave LAX until 30 minutes past my pick-up time because the driver was kind enough to wait for another passenger. The bus had Good temperature, no loud music, driver was more quiet and I knocked out for the second half of the drive for about 1.5 hours. We got back to Santa Maria 10 minutes earlier than scheduled. SCORE!! Overall, cheapest shuttle to LAX, ok shuttle/van, and I would consider taking it again because I love being able to nap. However, it's not a luxury shuttle so don't expect it because you get what you pay for. read more

$60 per person gets you from LAX to your front door in Santa Barbara or Goleta, although I know others going to Vandenberg and Santa Maria had to pay almost twice that (prices are one way). I'll pay the extra $$ for door-to-door service instead of hitching a ride to the Airbus station. Our driver was eccentric but extremely kind. Had no idea this particular bus service existed till tonight, and will definitely use them again in the future. Previous complaints about being "unethical" are untrue-- the driver always asked potential passengers if they had prepaid for the Airbus before encouraging them to get on his bus. read more

I have taken this shuttle twice back and forth from LAX to Santa Maria. It is the only shuttle servicing the San Luis Obispo area from LAX. Considering the alternative (cost of parking in LAX, cost of gas, hassle of driving in LA) these guys are reasonably priced and a Godsend. Both times I had a good experience. The van was clean. The driver was friendly and helpful. He stops halfway through for gas at a nice place with clean bathrooms and a Mini-mart so you may get snacks or drinks, saying to let him know if we needed to make other stops. In my former life I took many a van from NYC to CT where, between the driver and the driving, I'd be clutching my Rosary beads in the fetal position offering deals to my maker if arrived alive. Be thankful for these guys, people. read more

Driver Phillip made my ride a blast. He is warm, charming and funny. His shuttle service is not just a ride, it is an event. He makes every customer feel special and gets us all laughing. The Shuttle service itself is wonderful. I love not having to drive to and from LAX. The round-trip price is $128 which is still less than flying out of SLO Airport. I was allowed to bring my dog, and Phillip treated her like a queen. I will definitely use the shuttle again and will ask for Phillip. read more

Phillip, our driver, was very kind and enthusiastic. I think he could tell that I'd recently come off a long day of travelling (about 18 hours), and he took good care of me, directing me to the single seat by the door, which I greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I would have been stuck in the back in the middle of a 4-seat row, which looked terribly uncomfortable. So the missing star is for the van itself; other people in the van seemed much less comfortable than I was, and that easily could have been me. Phillip made great time and we arrived earlier than I expected, and I was happy for the one pit stop in Camarillo. He even let me charge my phone. All in all, it was a pretty nice ride. Thank goodness for this shuttle company. We had rented a car through Budget and they were overbooked and didn't have a car for us (see my other review for more on that). We needed to get down to Hollywood in LA and we were able to get two seats on the shuttle heading for LAX. Not exactly our destination, but close enough! Phillip was our driver and he made the ride easy and enjoyable. After the rental car fiasco it was so nice to have a friendly and humorous driver. We would definitely use this company again and would ask for Philip if we could! read more

0k so I used this shuttle about a year ago, on the pickup in Buellton the bus Grover was great. Nice comfy bus and he was very sweet. I paid cash for round trip and tipped him generously , okay so 12 days later I'm at LAX waiting for my sweet driver and shuttle. After approximately 10 phone calls and 5 or maybe it was 6 hours waiting I was picked up by a complete ahole! He was rude argumentative and he was pissed off that he had to turn around. All the while talking to his boss trying to find my payment ( the "boss" finally found it. The cargo van we were picked up in was dirty not to mention uncomfortable. I had been on the plane all day long and then I had to deal with the punk that was driving. Oh , he literally threw my luggage out of the van. My husband was picking me up in Buellton and wanted to chase him down. It was the worst way to end the most beautiful visit with my daughter!! read more

Craziest driver on the 101 freeway. Weaves in and out of traffic getting no further but creating an unsafe drive for a car full of passengers. Be aware. I would not recommend. It was an intense drive to say the least. read more

Officially done w them, after using them on and off over the years, done. They're never consistent with pick up times, never, always late, and the one time they're relatively on time (15 min late) the driver left me after I was waiting in baggage claim as my flight landed late. Dispatch tried contacting him to make one more turn knowing I was there and he simply didn't respond to them. Forget you guys and your crappy old vans. read more

the most uncomfortable shuttle i ever had. Bus #16 has no shock absorption and all tires are in very bad condition. 6/5/2018 6pm LAX to Santa Maria: bumpy, tossing up and down, spinning in 360 degree as long as the vehicle was moving on local streets or freeway 405 & 101 all the way through. I let the driver know how uncomfortable it was after a short ride on 405. He first said the road is under construction. A few minutes later then he said the company wanted him to drive the old car. At the Camarillo stop, I stepped out to take a good look at what was wrong with the bus. I pointed the wheels to the driver, and now he said: what's wrong? He called the owner and asked me to complain to him. When break is over the driver suggested me to take the next bus which is a new car. When I heard it, I thought I was going into a horror movie or what. 2.5 hours waiting at the stop, are you kidding me? My headache last for many days. If you are not strong enough, you might get brain damages, hip or spinal core injuries. Very bad experience and will not ride again. read more

Just had another awesome experience with these guys! I had to go to LAX to pick up my mom and didn't want to fight LA traffic and parking. My mom went through immigration and customs pretty quickly and we didn't have to wait for 3 hours to get on our originally booked shuttle because they allow you to get on an earlier shuttle if there are available seats. Moreover the driver of our original shuttle, Manuel Ortiz (I apologize if the name is not correct) called me to make sure we were able to find the pick up area. Amazing customer service! My first time using this service. The driver not only used a cellphone while driving but wrote down directions while doing so!!! She had no GPS on the shuttle and was trying to get a faster route. I checked my GPS and we were on the fastest one. She also complained about her boss, the traffic and anything else. I was afraid she would crash. read more

Very disappointed with this service and the company seems mismanaged. The vans are old and the rear suspension and shocks are shot. You feel every bump and turn. I arrived early at LAX and called to catch an early shuttle. The office said no problem as they would contact the driver. I later called after waiting 20 minutes and the office said no problem - the driver will be there in a few. Well...20 minutes later still no shuttle. Again the office lied and said to wait. Finally after another call the office finally said that the driver wasn"t answering the phone!!! I was forced to wait 2 1/2 hours for the next shuttle. And....the driver on the later van didn't say a word. ...Not hello or thanks....nothing ...Very odd service. Drive a bit and catch Santa Barbara Airbus , they are professional and the busses are well maintained. read more

This is a much needed service on the Central Coast (wish there was one to San Francisco airport). I've taken the shuttle many times and the drivers are very helpful. There are only three issues: 1. some drivers play loud music that is annoying; 2. some drivers talk constantly; and 3. they pick passengers up at the green shuttle sign at LAX but there are several green shuttle signs in close proximity to each other. It is unclear where the shuttle will stop and they don't call the passenger to let them know. So you can be standing under one green sign and they are at another nearby but can't see them due to all the traffic. After a long trip, it is annoying not to be able to easily locate the shuttle. read more

This is the most horrible service in North county to take you to LAX. The Service is very poor the shuttles are a piece of crap. The drivers are not safe at all. The radio is so loud, he is on his cell phone. Very rude to the passengers. The shuttle has terrible shock issues, very uncomfortable seats, by the time we got to LAX My body was so sore from the rough ride. The driver also drives so fast. The driver is never on schedule late always. had to call the office, which the customer service is rated zero ! Also asked when the driver was putting my luggage in the back, I ask him please don't toss it , it has Breakage from Germany he toss it anyway! He broke three items of glassware that were packed with bubble wrap! Very upset, it was the second time he did that! You need to close shop! Case closed ! read more

I've used them quite a few times for both one way and RT LAX-SM and they have always been very good with me. Punctual, polite, and friendly. My home is right on the route to Santa Maria airport so a few times they have dropped me off out in front of my home. I think they charge extra for that now, but it is still a bargain and very convenient. Today I spoke with one of the office gals to confirm a reservation for next week. She was very polite, articulate, and has a sense of humor. I love CC Shuttle! read more
