Getting a prescription refilled or transferred is a major task as half the doctors do not even respond to these requests and a quarter of them don't get it right when they do respond. Trying to reach someone on the phone normally requires several messages and hoping for a call back. The doctors have no clue as to how backed up other services are and write an order for an ultrasound or CT scan for a specific time frame only to have the patient discover the earliest appointment is a month after the doctor wanted the service.

Thank you to all of you, and also the 2 new nurses introduced to me in the operating room as I was saying hello while succumbing to the anesthesia. I remember laughing to myself as they wheeled me down the hall, and saying I felt like a famous formula 1 driver and they were my superstar pit crew! They know how to help you relax and have a little fun before and after the procedures. I've had four different surgeons. They were all top notch. Instead of offering a solution or providing guidance on how to proceed, she simply reiterated that he was no longer employed there. When I requested a solution and sought her advice on resolving the issue, she abruptly interrupted my conversation and assigned me a new provider without prior communication. She then abruptly ended the call, leaving me without the necessary information to schedule an appointment. Other than the doctor she assigned will contact me if there's earlier availability. While I've never had any issues with the receptionists in the past, this experience was particularly disappointing because I was unable to receive clear guidance and was subjected to rude behavior.

They were all timed on top of each other for the same doctor. I was told to be there at 11:30 for a 12:15 procedure. So was another woman. After waiting an hour, you can imagine how difficult this is for someone in pain. The entire waiting room is like this. I ask how long will the wait be? She says another hour. Are you kidding me? I leave and tell her to call me. Coming back after their call an hour later I'm called back and change. I give one of the nurses the key to the locker. Another nurse shows me to pre-op. I wait there for an eternity with the beeping and a splitting headache. The only saving grace in the place was the anesthesiologist, who understood I needed the sound down, asked the nurses why there was no IV put in me, and told me he'd take care of me. Sadly, the nurse who told him she would do the IV left. I do mean left the building and did not come back. Unbelievable. So, I sat there once again and waited. By the time anyone showed up my head was ready for an explosion, my back was fried, my neck and shoulders were hurting. Finally, a Nurse came and apologized for dropping the ball and started the IV. It was messy, although I'm an easy stick. The anesthesiologist came and gave me something, which helped immediately. Once again, he was the only blessing. After the procedure I had to ask for water, keep in mind it was 3pm and I had not had anything since the night before. Here was the clincher, I go to change and they lost my key. Seriously. Is it even possible to have a group of people this incompetent? This disorganized? Why isn't a nurse prescribed to each patient instead of them running around like chickens idiotically!

He used a model saying there would be 33,000 cases of this virus in Monterey County around this time. So far we have perhaps one per cent of this number. But the "medical director" doesn't seem to change his methodology and is very reticent about sharing information. The "medical director" was so happy with how things were going that he arbitrarily extended the lockdown until the end of May. This has caused a great deal of hardship for people. But this man never misses a paycheck of his nearly $350K/year salary, so doubt he cares about all those out of work, including those who cannot collect unemployment. The county needs a new health director very, very badly.
