Fell, and injured my wrist, and have had broken a wrist bone before, I wanted the quick assurance of an x-ray to know whether this new injury was another fracture or a bad sprain. Obviously no need for the ER, so DoD staffs actual doctors and not just nurse practitioners as Montage's MoGo Urgent Care. Also, DoD provides radiology services beginning at 9am and MoGo starts this service at 10 am. So, DoD best met my needs effectively. read more

Thank god! Things seem to be back to normal here (or what I think is normal). I had an appointment at noon and they got me in there exactly at noon and I was treated well by the front desk as well as the LVN (I believe) who was super nice and kind! I am so glad this DOD is BACK! This location is the one I chose to come to because I had tried the other locations and they were awful. They have always been great except for 1 or 2 times. I was praying that things would get back to normal and I am glad it finally has! The doctors and nurses here are really attentive and because they also do X-rays here it makes it super convenient so you don't have to go to several different facilities.... Worst possible care staff I have ever seen. Lots of people sitting around...I even saw a receptionist playing on his phone... I was told there were 3 "staff" receiving patients when we went in today... they must have all been on a break. We could overhear that everyone that called was asked to "come in in about 2 hours"... No one on staff at the time could read an X-ray ... we will have to wait several more hours to see if the radiologist finds anything... in the mean time we are headed to CHOMP where we expect to find at least one MD in the ER. read more

3rd Dr's visit here in a week so very long of a wait. I arrived at 2pm it is now 345 pm and I know they said 2 hours but at least 5 people who just came in are seeing the Dr while I wait??? The person who handles their social media attempts to talk to me. I am sorry I am a very private individual. I am a customer service professional. Their customer service lacks. My 3rd visit sums up: I had a very long wait while others saw a dr right away. But the Dr there was top notch. And her assistant as well. I went in to get a prescription refilled for sildenafil, but was taken aback when I was told I had to get blood work? Seriously? Are these idiots on some kind of kickback? I just spent $200 for the visit and some NP clown, Kenny Michioka, wanted me to fork over more $. I told him I felt fine and I didn't need it, but was ignored. "Listening to your patient" is often described as the first rule of thumb in healthcare because it's paramount for building trust, providing effective care, and achieving positive health outcomes. This place has always been 5 stars to me. Well, I've had my small doubts here and there just like any normal patient would but neighbors and friends alike have confirmed for me that this indeed IS the place to go if you're in need of any helpful health assistance, guidance, and healing. The front desk staff there is the worst. Not sure why they need that many people there and you still can't get help. I walked up had an emergency and they have 5 people behind the desk and a kiosk for you to sign in on. Two people are talking away at each other and it's not about business. One girl helps me but seems occupied - I stand there for 20min for her to ask me two questions and get my insurance card before I ask to sit down. Sat for 20min, she's now on the phone and waves for me to get my cards back. When she's done I ask how long the wait is and she doesn't know. Asks one of the chatty Kathy's - 45 min. I got up and left. They could care less about your welfare there and just want your money. read more

This WAS my GP for several years. After being ignored and receiving several different answers but no follow through, I am in search of new GP. I liked that I could schedule online or do a drop in without an apt. I am trying to keep afloat. I was seeing an Endocrinologist but found it hard to schedule apt, too difficult to take the time off and the blood work requested was very expensive, had to set up a payment plan to pay it off, I asked if they were my GP if we could take care of all there. I was told yes, once I had bloodwork. I had the bloodwork done and when it was reviewed, again I asked if the other Rx could write the replacement rx, I was taking 3 medications to try to control my T2D. I agreed to start testing my glucose again and asked for an Rx for a meter, was instructed to contact my insurance carrier since they were unsure if could write an Rx for new meter. I called my insurance and was sent new meeter one. I was instructed to get Rx for test strips and lancets from my GP, so I took the meter in with me to DoD. I was prescribed a new meter, ok after being instructed to contact my insurance, but ok. I did not complain. I asked for two of the other meds to be refilled and thought I'd be able to get the care one stop shop. These Rx would need to be sent to my pharmacy from DoD. I waited and thought maybe the meds were out of stock, so I sent a message. I explained that I did not wish to return to the endocrinologist and reiterate that TWO practitioners had confirmed they could refill the meds. The response: go see your endocrinologist. I was flabbergasted but again did not complain. I was misinformed and lied to. Now I am just taking one medication for my T2D. I can't afford to go to the endocrinologist. Now I am on the search for a new GP. "Do no harm" is part of the Hippocratic Oath, a pledge that outlines the obligations and proper conduct of doctors. The phrase emphasizes the importance of patient safety and the need to avoid interventions that could cause adverse outcomes. Well here I am, struggling with my T2D. Don't trust DoD. read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctors office, I went in just for a physical Monday morning so that I could get a sheet of paper filled out for my work. After 5 hours of waiting I came back to get seen, gave the doctor the sheet of paper that I asked the staff to make sure ahead of time was possible to get filled out and low and behold was not able to get filled out. The Provider that saw me told me I needed blood work done and to come back to Doctors on Duty at 8am the next morning which is what I did to find out that I needed to go somewhere else to get the blood work done. No mention of this other place I needed to go was ever relayed to me. The next day go to the place to get blood work done. Nothing was ever sent from the provider. She had forgotten to send the request to get the blood work done to the other place. So for the fourth morning in a row I woke up early to go get my blood work done which was finally there and received my test results quickly. On the 5th day I call Doctors on Duty to ask for the completed sheet to be sent to me that I had left with the provider only to find out that she lost it and I had to resend it for her to fill out again. Unreal. This has been a horrible experience, I am not going to name the provider but to say the least I do not recommend if you can help it going here. read more

I was injured at work over a year ago. I have been coming in every few months. Other than physical therapy, I have had no care for my injuries. The insurance company has denied everything else. The second MRI showed that I may need surgery. The doctor didn't seem concerned that I was still in pain. He referred me to occupational therapy, which was denied. The doctor I was seeing has left and I'm now seeing their PA. I finally was given medication and a referral to an orthopedic surgeon. It will still take some time to get an appointment. I know Work Comp is terrible and DOD could do a better job. read more

The reception of patients is completely unplanned, and the doctors are clearly disorganized and unhappy, which makes it seem as though they are being manipulated in the selection of patients and appointments. After waiting for three hours, I asked the receptionist if I was still in line. She told me that there were three people ahead of me. However, to my disbelief, six people who arrived after me were called in. When I asked the receptionist again, she said there were still two people ahead of me! Surprisingly, she then explained that this happened because I requested to see a specific doctor, even though I had not chosen any particular doctor. It's evident that mismanagement, and possibly the interference of medical staff in handling patient documents, are the causes of this disorganization. The poor management of the clinic is further highlighted by the lack of a clear system for patient appointments. DO NOT GO THERE read more

So apart from basically learning from Dr Satya in order to be assisted with dissability in this system you have to have a diagnosis that would show--for instance a pinched nerve or skipped disc of torn muscle and so there's not much to do except continue working on the pain while taking therapy. Personally I still do not understand why the system (and I understand there are systemic things now that are out of doctors' hands) would not allow a human being to heal while taking therapy instead of trashing our bodies while intaking either chemically based pills that have other side effects or injections every month. Sorry but I refuse to live like that. Dr. Satya told me that he would like to "share with" me that "our bodies are not the same anymore...past our twenties" we should basically know "our bodies are no longer the same" as in young lol I'm sorry I'm laughing. I wish I could have presented my personal profesional trainers to him. Mind this isn't to boast or clout but I did tell him "sorry no offense that's you not me", after he shared he now lives with chronic pain, (for starters in my mind I have no idea why an entire doctor, who is financially flexible does not want to cure a chronic back pain with movement so now come to think of it why would I trust doctors like that?), however I also told him that "I'm used to being able to hike for 2 hours, swim, paddle, jog with my dog, jog 30 minutes, dance, and I've been trained with professional so this isn't normal for me so that simply doesn't pertain to me." He's seen me for the same but lacked to recall the only reason I was injured was because I hold a high tolerance to pain and I worked out on a defective slippery mat and that's how I got injured but bet he doesn't even remember that. I am so shocked at how insensitive that comment was but thank goodness I am not currently going through depression because the fact a doctor is basically telling me "we can't because of our age" is absolutely ridiculous. Clearly he doesn't follow or has knowledge of the amazing Joan MacDonald who assisted herself and healed many things e.g. arthritis, fatigue instead of increasing her medications. I myself now that I remember have healed my own wrist pain from typing with weights instead of taking pills. I expressed to him how the pain is slowing me down big time including being able to do my groceries, laundry, cook, and although I can feel P.T. (Physical therapy) is slowly assisting me--it's counterintuitive to intake pills to numb the pain and put my body under more threshold only to get more hurt on the long run. He did assist me with the note needed to excuse me from jury duty since there's no way I can sit for more than 2 hours currently but other than that he utilized mid level vocab twice just to tell me I should basically discuss the possibility of disability with the pain doctor now that my coming up next year. (That's all he had to say lol not elongate the conversation to tell me twice that basically he can't assist me with disablity instead of utilizing sciolist verbiage and try and explain this with the pain/back and joint doctor). I was at least assisted with notes as proof of what is happening thank goodness and I am grateful for that! but that doesn't remove these weird/inappropriate social behaviors. Clearly there is a huge difference in a person becoming professionals in being doctors solemnly and having the power of prescribing pills and having so much legal power over what is supposedly best for your body, versus those who actually practice movement and stay active. I am so grateful for the appointment I had with Dr. Satyanarayana (or, Dr. Satya). It has been several years since I had a physical exam, so I had a lot of initial screenings for my first visit. Dr. Satya carefully reviewed my chart and medical history, then attentively listened to my long list of concerns. He thoughtfully addressed all my concerns, effortlessly answered each of my questions, and provided thorough explanations in an unintimidating manner that was easy for me to understand. He is a very warm, kind, respectful, and considerate doctor with a sympathetic bedside manner. Dr. Satya made me feel so comfortable that I was able to discuss all my health issues without feeling judged. I never felt rushed and he truly made me feel valued and cared for, as if I were a family member or a close friend (side note: while I was in the waiting room, I saw Dr. Satya give the same level of attention and care to another patient while speaking to her in Spanish. At the time, I didn't know he was going to be my doctor, and I was already impressed with his compassion for his patient). I am so happy I have finally found my primary care physician. Dr. Satya is a gem! (As for Doctors on Duty, I appreciate how easy it was to get an appointment without a long waiting period. Honestly, horrible clinic. You'll have an appointment scheduled and see it change from 10a to 11a to 12a and then when you show up for your 12a appt after you called and asked why they keep pushing your time back. (apparently walk ins take priority over scheduled appts according to the info I got from the phone call) You'll wait to be called in to be seen just to see you keep getting pushed back for even more walk ins. You might as well just walk in instead of having your whole day eaten up in a waiting room by scheduling an appointment beforehand. Oh and then when you leave they ask if you're sure you want to go because your problem is pretty serious... what a joke. Definitely DO NOT recommend this place. Went with my wife who is trying to get a drug test through her employer. Staff is not really friendly as we tried talking to them if her recruiter had already called, at first they said no. So what we did is we called her recruiter and they said they're gonna call. When we came back in one of the staff members said they still have not received their call. So we called the recruiter back and said they already spoke with someone. So when we ask again turns out one of them already received the call. She was within earshot of the other staff member we were talking to prior. Can you guys get your staff members relay information when needed? Plus they look that they don't like their job that much. Not very friendly and approachable. The folks who did the test were amazing according to her though. read more

Two recent good experiences... 1. Their power was out yesterday (nearby utility equipment malfunctioning), but were still taking patients... mostly just for discussion purposes since no way to do any procedures. Except I was requesting an actinic kerotosis outbreak to be cryo'd... and they did it! Cup of liquid nitrogen and some q-tips... a window with plenty of sunshine coming through... DONE! Am VERY impressed with staffing at the Monterey Lighthouse Ave. Doctors On Duty office. Friendly staff and extremely competent doctors treating my condition. 2. A few months ago, I was experiencing some painful muscles/tissues in my foot and I went into this same office expecting a pulled muscle. Turned out to be a deeply placed wood splinter which had started to abscess. Doctor dragged me over to the surgery bay and immediately numbed, incised the area, drained, and extracted the splinter. A huge relief for me. A big 5-Star rating here. read more

About a month ago I came in for a workers comp injury and was seen by a dr here. She was nice and helpful. Two weeks later I came back and they said the original dr had went home sick and that I would be seen by another dr that was filling in for her. This was fine with me. At the end of my appointment they told me I would need to come back in two weeks but that the original dr would be on vacation at that time for about 3 weeks. The lady told me I could just walk in or come in earlier to see the original dr before she went on vacation. I came in 1 business day early for my dr appt to make it in when the original dr would be there. When I came in I was refused service with the receptionist telling me first that at 4:15 they were no longer talking any patients because the dr I came in to see had went home early and there was only 1 other provider and he was not seeing anyone else. (At one point he came out and loudly complained to the receptionist that she had told him he only had 1 left why was there now 2 people.) When I told them I needed to be seen as it was worker comp the girl went to the back and came back and said I was too early (1 day). The girl gave me a note after some back and forth and said it was tricky for them to give me a note and they couldn't say I was refused. I went to my employer and got time off for another appointment. I came into the drs on duty today and was again turned away. When I came up the receptionist informed me I would not be seen because neither the original dr or the 2nd dr is in the office. She said the original dr was not on vacation but was out sick still and that the other receptionist the other day was misinformed. She also said the office the 2nd dr is at today is probably not taking any more patients (seaside at 4:20) so I would have to try again another day. I let her know I was missing time at work and needed to be seen or needed a note saying they were denying me service to give to my boss. The girl photographed refused the give me a note saying she could not. She said no managers were available and that there was no one else I could speak with. I asked for a managers number and she said she could only give me her manager Michelle's email. I asked for a regional managers number and she said she could not give out that information. I asked for her name so I could reference her when speaking to the manager and she refused to give me her first name. She said she didn't feel comfortable giving it out and when I seemed to think that was incredulous the gal next to her said they didn't have to share their first name. The other girls turned their badges around to the blank side but this original girl never had a visible badge. I took a photo so I can reference her and how she was blatantly rude and disrespectful. She had no empathy for the situation and treated me in a way you should not treat a customer who is just trying to understand a very odd situation. The photo also shows they has personal health information of another patient out in the open for all to see. While I was here another patient that was here last time I was here was loudly saying she had been treated badly. The receptionists refused to tell her what time it was. So she asked me and I told her it was 4:48 at this point since I didn't see why they wouldn't just tell her. I will now have to start going to a different office (Seaside) to see the 2nd dr.
