Recently no one is answering the phone. This is new behavior since website update. This is poor customer service.

It's the little things in life that matter. I've called more than 4 times to help set up "the update" account, to no avail. I've tried every password variation and security code I have, but none seem to work. I called last OCTOBER for someone to help me reset my PIN on my debit card and never received a callback; however, I've since continued using only savings. Now I just want to request a withdrawal of my funds and close the account. Sad day when you have to leave a credit union you've been banking with for over 20 years for lack of customer service via telephone. read more

I have been a member for over 30 years. I opened when they came to my work and stated with a small savings account. I have had accounts at other banks and still do. Central credit union is my favorite. They are forgiving, I have had an oop's a couple of times, and they always forgave. I have used several services and never had any issue with loans.. Thankfully you don't need to be local to bank anymore. Thank you Credit Union for the wonderful service. Maybe we can share a slice of pie on our golden anniversary. Lol read more

I have been a member of the credit union for over 15 years with ABSOLUTELY NO COMMUNITY. The lack of honest communication with customers is what hurts families in black and brown communities. The practices of this institution DOES NOT SUPPORT positive community outcomes. This institution is ran off the backs of hardworking residents who believe their money is safe with you. INSTEAD, customers are nickel and dimmed to death in late charge fees, account fees and mandatory (UNREALISTIC) fees. Who, during this tumultuous time can afford to keep $200 in thier savings account? Many community residents have no money during this pandemic. Many residents don't even have food to eat and you have the audacity to DEMAND the hold in savings of $200 or more. In Proviso! Technology: No weekend access. Limited online access to support services Few locations to support community and member need. Availability and Access: The credit union has meager access to new and improved technologies that allow you to monitor and/or manage your money. Business Leadership- Several black and brown community leaders are struggling to start their own business. The credit union isn't tapped in to that fact because its only concern is to grow membership NOT support members! I have witnessed my money sit in your institution long enough to work for you but hurt me! I have paid overdraft fees that cost me in times of dire straights with NO support from the credit union. To further insult our community, we hear messages from people who don't represent us or our community blatently lie about instructional practices. Big banks are horrible and this supposedly community-focused credit union, is worse! Avoid. read more

I went through the Orland Park location. I just wanted to say after struggling with debt for years to the point where I contemplated just... Well, I'll leave the depressing details out, but they offered me an unsecured, fixed-rate personal loan that consolidated all my payments into one at a much lower interest rate. Christina Mroczkowska helped save my life. I can't believe how well I was treated here. I just can't believe I lucked out this much. For that, I am totally in their debt (literally but gladly), and I will highly recommend this place to everyone I know (and I have). read more

My parents have been with CCU of IL for 20+ years, I've had accounts with them for the past 10. I cannot say enough good about this bank--they've charged me a fee (a whopping $5) once in the entire time I've been there, and promptly reimbursed it when I expressed confusion over why I'd been charged it. They're friendly, attentive, and the fees/loan rates are always low, and the savings rates are above average. They also have great 'specials' on short-term CDs from time to time that are exceptionally good. Extra props for a simple, effective online banking system that they've had since 2001, despite being "just" a small community bank. I've managed my money from Boston and now California with no problems for the last 8 years without a single hitch. There's a reason that 3 cities and 10 years later I'm still with CCU of IL. If this is the kind of service they give college students with no money, imagine if you actually had money to invest with them! read more

I've been with other credit unions and this one is comparable. I had my debit card stolen and the crooks spent over $100.00. I reported it to the credit union and they issued me another card.. but they refused to refund my money or find the crooks. I had to eat the loss. read more

Just awful. First up, my wife and I were pretty shocked that we both got TWO HARD CREDIT INQUIRIES just to open an account here, so if you're trying to maintain a solid credit score and stay on top of your FICO score, think long and hard about this. Beyond that, we found the staff to be mostly pleasant, outside of management who were unhelpful when dealing with requests to downright hostile. We never dealt with any fees or overdraft charges or anything, so we can't speak to that, however we were told in the end that we were depositing too many checks and they didn't have the staff to handle the few checks we'd bring in a week from my wife's side business. The office is VERY dated looking and somewhat rundown and on a relatively barren section of 1st Ave across from a liquor store. Overall, we'd never recommend going here with your business. Management is intrusive and hostile, the staff is pleasant enough but seem bored, the place seems rundown, they will hassle you for doing anything outside of direct depositing one or two paychecks a month (despite there being no set limits in any documentation, admitted by the management, making it up to their discretion) there are many better options locally, and they slapped TWO HARD CREDIT PULLS on our credit reports to open a checking account, which to me is unbelievable and unacceptable.
