Then I called called Gary and he met with us the next evening. We have a 40 yr 2 story old crawl space home. The AC was 20 yrs old and even with an additional portable AC unit on the 2nd floor was still too hot. Gary did a thorough evaluation to calculate proper sizing and identified a design issue with the downstairs main trunk which was robbing cool air intended for upstairs. He fabricated a new trunk and replaced most of the other downstairs duct work which was in rough shape after 40 years on the dirt floor crawl space. All ductwork is now suspended neatly within the encapsulated crawl space. He did a perfect job of setting the outdoor unit as well which runs quiet and smoothe. Also love the ECOBEE WiFi thermostat and air ionizer. So 4 months later now and 95 deg outside with a perfectly cool comfortable home and great sleep. Gary did an awesome install for 50% below my other bids. Even better though is that he is kind, polite, hardworking, honest and reliable. Give him a call and you won't be disappointed.

Date of service Sept 30, 2022…read more This is the 2nd time I have used Etheridge Heating and Air since moving here last year. He was able to come out the next day after my call. My thermostat went dead. The transformer in my inside furnace was dead. Apparently Rheem didn't feel it was necessary to insert a $2 fuse between the transformer and board to stop the $80 transformer from shorting out. He replaced the transformer and also wired in a fuse for me in case it happened again. That way I would be out only a 25 cent fuse. Well, good thing he did. When we turned it back on the fuse blew again. Saved me from another transformer replacement. He found that the wire in the outside unit had rubbed so long it was down to the bare wire. When the unit turned on, it rubbed against the bare metal to the active low voltage wire and shorted it out again. He repaired this and we are good to go again. Mr Etheridge is extremely knowledgeable, and a very friendly individual. He explained step by step what was going on and why he was doing each step. I have used a couple other hvac companies and so far he is far superior. One is local and one is Sears. Sears was a complete joke and their guy over filled my freon in the unit because he read it wrong. I have the old freon unit from 2004 which is like $200 a pound. It almost burnt it up had I not asked him to check it again before leaving. Then he vented all the excess freon straight into the atmosphere instead of reclaiming it... I have a home warranty on my 3 hvac units. I still chose to pay out of pocket for Etheridge to come out instead. I ended up paying about $75 more than my home warranty deductible to have it resolved in a day instead of up to a week. I did this because he fixed in an hour what Sears couldn't figure out on multiple visits the last time I was having an issue and I was tired of their incompetence. Ill be using Ethridge Heating and Air going forward.

I recently called Utility Tex to come and fix some electrical issues in my home. Little did I know…read morethat their response was going to be so quick. I heard back the same day I reached out. They set up a time to come and give an estimate. After they left, I remembered some other items that I had forgotten to mention. They were so kind and quick with their response. After signing the extimate, we set up a time for them to come in the same week. The people who came, Ty and Nick, did a fantastic job. They completed all of the items that I had requested while being respectful of an unusual schedule that I have working from home. They completed everything and left. Shortly after they left, I realized I had another proble. Ty and Nick came back immediately. Then, they went to work trying to find the cause of this new issue. Luckily for me, they found an ancient outlet that was a fire waiting to happen. All of the plastic had already melted from around the wires. The duo then searched for all of the outlets that were ancient, by this I mean over 31 years old and the company that made them was long out of business, and set their goal to replacing each of the remaining outlets that fit the description. When they ran out of available outlets, they quickly made arrangements to return the following day. They provide the kind of customer service that is not found very often.

I originally called for a diagnostic, but they went ahead and did additional work without my permission or even informing me -- and now I'm stuck with an expensive bill I never agreed to. When I asked questions to understand what was happening, the technician kept brushing me off, saying "we just have to go," and wouldn't explain anything until I insisted, as a paying customer, that I deserve to know what's wrong with my unit before they leave. Even then, the explanation was vague and the attitude remained rude. When I brought up my concerns to the owner of the company, he was also very dismissive and showed no interest in resolving the issue. Instead of listening, he threatened to take us to court if we didn't pay the bill. And now, simply for asking questions and advocating for myself, I've been placed on a "do not service" list. This was an extremely unprofessional and upsetting experience from beginning to end. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Another almost two weeks later I call a third time. Finally I was told they would come out the next day at 1pm. Two hours before the scheduled arrival and after I'd already arranged to be off work to meet them, I get a call - nope - going to be 8am the next day. Changed leave arrangement and at 9am no one had called or shown up so I canceled the service request. Five minutes later I get a call that they are on their way. I told them not to bother, I'd be calling someone else. They should owe me a few stars for being patient a lot longer than I should have been. Edit - was contacted by Management after I called to cancel the service request. He arranged to get a truck out and serviced later the same day and offered an acceptable discount due to scheduling issues on their part. Technicians that came out were courteous, efficient and did a good job so I'm adding a couple of stars for them. I understand emergencies and staffing issues, but if it's going to be a month to get someone out, just tell me that up front. I would have understood and had no problem waiting.
