I had an accident that required immediate emergency surgery reconstructing my left hip and femur approx. 12 years ago. Dr. Costa was immediately contacted by my Primary Physician. Dr Costa, who wasn't on duty over the weekend, came to Riverview Hospital and put me back together again! After 12 years, and an active lifestyle, all is well with my left hip. 2. Dr Costa did a right hip replacement for me 3 years ago....which went and remains perfect. 3. Last week I had a full left knee replacement by Dr. Costa. It was damaged when I was young playing football. My recovery has been quite remarkable. In less than one week I can walk unassisted....no need for a walker or cane. My pain level has not been greater than a 2 or 3 out of 10. My only medication has been Tylenol and Lyrica (for nerve pain. No narcotics for pain needed. 4. A few years ago, my wife wanted to continue playing pickleball....and to do so, required a knee replacement. I suggested Dr. Costa, but she felt she would be best served going to The Hospital for Special Sugery in NYC, who did NOT do quad sparing knee replacement surgery. Her recovery was long and painful. Two months taking Percocet, not sleeping at night, a long rehab and a full 12 months before she felt better. After witnessing my current knee recovery, she now admits she made a big mistake going to The Hospital for Special Surgery. If they don't do quad sparing knee replacement, they are not "Special". If you want the best joint replacement experience, talk to Dr. Costa. The P.A's, at Dr. Costa's office, Bobbi and CJ, are the best I have ever experienced. He spent 45 minutes talking with me during my initial appointment and made sure to define every foreign term that he mentioned. He wants to get to know you as a person first, then he treats you. The day after my surgery, he called me personally to see how I was doing. He also checks in with my hand therapist regularly and is always well informed. He is worlds apart from my previous doctor who couldn't remember my name and asked me to remind him what he did and said at my last visit. It never takes more than a few days to get an appointment and the wait time in the office is less than 10 minutes. Excellent experience overall. I saw so many awesome reviews about this Dr. Katzman,Ortho Surgeon at Spine & Orthopedics Center. Thought I would give them a call ask questions and advised to send my MRI and Disc, notes so I did. To sum it all up, I got a call from Dr. Katzman, talked to me about my problem, and offered to see me, and consult me over the phone. Really, what Dr. would do that? With Dr. Katzman's phone call and his knowledge of my problem, I felt comfortable, and was ready to have this procedure done. Next phone call came from, NJ Spine and Orthopedics, Dr. Katzman's team of employees. They called to set up my appointment, got me scheduled and on the right track, which I could not afford this surgery even with my so called insurance. Few days later, another phone call from NJ Spine & Ortho Center, this time from (Ethan P) Senior Patient Advocate 973-788-5028 He works for Dr. Katzman's team. Ethan made it all possible, and easy to talk to. He helped with my financial part, as in the amount I would owe out of pocket, even as far as setting up payment arrangements, and to the surgery date. Ethan, was awesome, don't think I could have managed this without Ethan's and Admins help. My so far experience. I will do a follow up to this review after my surgery, stay tuned. I will then leave my phone # incase anyone would like to reach out to me for advice, on my experience. I have never heard of a Doctor calling their patients to talk about their concerns, without asking them come into the office for consultation, which then you have your office fee.
