Moving Mountains - Whispering Pines: Breckenridge

    Moving Mountains

Warning: We had a very disappointing experience with Moving Mountains…read more After a prior unsatisfactory stay in Park City in 2024--where multiple features of the rental home were not functioning--I nevertheless booked a condominium in Beaver Creek for February 2025 through Moving Mountains. As a condition of the rental, I added a clause to the contract requiring that the company thoroughly inspect the unit and confirm that all mechanical systems were operational prior to my arrival. This seemed like a modest request for a property renting at approximately $30,000 per week. Moving Mountains agreed to this condition and accepted payment. Upon arrival, while touring the unit with Moving Mountains' representative, Ariane, we immediately discovered that the fireplace was not functioning. Additional issues surfaced shortly thereafter. It was clear that the contract provision requiring a pre-arrival inspection had been ignored. For a $30,000 weekly rental--of which roughly $10,000 to $15,000 likely goes to the rental agent--it is disappointing that a basic management task, such as conducting a one-hour checklist inspection, was apparently viewed as unnecessary, too time consuming , or too expensive. Based on this experience, I would not recommend renting through Moving Mountains. If I were a renter--or a property owner seeking management--I would look to more attentive companies in the Beaver Creek area, such as East West Properties, where we have had a better experience.

They use keys instead of electric locks so you have to return to the office at the end of the trip to check out and return the key. In 2022 there are much better ways.

We called maintenance at 4 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon to have it fixed, and we were told it was too late to fix and just try to put a piece of wood in the sliding glass door track. They also admitted that they knew the lock had not been working in the past and thought it had been fixed already. So Pioneer Ridge Property Management knowingly rented a property they knew was not safe! Because there was no sliding glass door and just a regular glass door (with no blinds or any way to have privacy), we had to prop the chair under the door knob in order to ensure our safety (See pic). We received no offer to be moved to a safer condo, and no offer of recompense for providing us with an unsafe room. In fact, Michael at the check-in desk told me that I should have asked to be moved & he implied that with the low crime rate in Steamboat, the non-locking door was no big deal. We also stayed for two nights, but were only given enough coffee for one night. When we asked for more, they said they had none left. I would avoid this place like the plague! Their customer service was lousy and there's no guarantee you'll be safe staying in one of their properties.
