Has a Best Buy and a McDonalds to eat. Plenty of parking. Coming from Mt. Vernon it's a short drive.

Central Plaza Shopping Center - Places I like in this place - Shopping Centers Near Me - Yonkers, New York

All in all, the largest overall shopping plaza on Central Avenue. Central Avenue is long 10 mile stretch from Yonkers up to White Plains. Most of the way, there are plenty of shopping options, but no area quite as large as the Central Plaza Shopping Center - which is located at about the half way point. To list every business here would be redundant since things change frequently, but some of the current main eventers here are Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Burlington, Party City, Pet Smart, 5 Guys, McDonalds, Ihop, and Modell's. Really though, it's a great area for variety overall. Babies R Us is also connected to the lot. Behind the Best Buy area, there's a whole other area that some people do miss. There used to be a Pathmark supermarket there, but the company closed. The rumor is Target will be taking that spot, but it's a large space and hopefully someone will take it soon. The lot has changed over the years from the glory days of "Movieland" - those from the area from the past will know what I mean. There are 5 entrances overall and plenty of parking. Parking and maneuvering in some areas are my biggest gripe here. You get the immensely lazy people who feel compelled to park as close as possible to a business since it would be a great tragedy to walk a few extra feet. Some terrible parkers as well who like to position their car in the middle of two spaces. A lot of drivers here also drive like crap, so you need to be cautious in some spots more than others. Some areas - such as the intersection near Modell's is an accident waiting to happen, so use caution. If it's a non-holiday time, you'll always find a space. Even during busy times, you'd be ok. Overall a good shopping area for Central Avenue and for lower Westchester. Chances are there is at least one business here that you'd patronize. read more
