Andy Johnston Construction (AJC) completed a whole house renovation of a house I bought in Fairway Village that was built in1985 and was pretty much original drab. I'm a senior citizen and needed/wanted a general contractor that would coordinate the entire project. AJC did just that. There were no delays, surprises or budget overruns. The 1300 sq foot house had 8 different types of ugly flooring. I now have two types - carpet and LVP. On the outside, AJC painted the exterior and trim, installed an adorable front door and replaced all windows. On the inside, the kitchen was gutted and new cabinets and appliances were installed. The master bath was gutted and a tub was turned into a delightful walk-in shower. Both bathrooms' vanities, toilets and fixtures were replaced. Lighting throughout was re-designed and updated and, of course, every room and the ceilings were repainted. Another project delight was the redesign/reface of an ugly fireplace that now has a gas insert that is remote controlled. AJC gave me a list of prior customers' who were happy to talk with me about their positive experience with their projects. Also, BTW, I had lived through two other kitchen & bath remodels with different contractors over the years and by far Andy Johnston Construction was the very best experience and outcome I have had.

Stephen removed my old deck in one day and then went to work on creating my new one. It is 25' X…read more20', so we're talking big deck. It is free-standing off my yard. The wood is cedar and we decided to use cables to keep the view open. There is no table up yet, as we are still social distancing, but it's so nice to be on a beautiful new deck. I had failing siding, water leaking, and had been through 2 other GC's. Tony gave me a thorough understanding of why the problems occurred and explained in depth his recommendation to fix it. We are staying in this house so we opted to fix all the siding, flashing, and wrap issues by the builder. As the work was completed, it became apparent he was right with his proposal to fix it all rather than just doing the visibly damaged area's. During the job, he found many of my roof tiles were gone and worked with my Home Insurance company to cover the roof damage. It was a pretty big job and was kind of expecting it to be a hassle based on past experiences I've had with other contractors, but this one actually went super smooth start to finish. From the first visit they gave off a solid vibe. Straightforward about what would be done and what kind of timeline to expect. I didn't feel like they were trying to upsell or talk in circles like some others do. Once the work started they kept that same energy. showed up when they said they would and stayed on track. I've had jobs before where people just vanish for days or don't say anything when things change, but with these guys, I always knew what was happening. Communication was probably one of the best parts. They'd actually check in and give me heads up if something needed a decision or if a delivery was running late. I made a couple last minute changes during the process (moved a light, swapped a fixture, small stuff) and they didn't act like it was a huge issue. they just worked it in and kept moving. no drama. Quality wise everything turned out great. the tile work in the shower is super clean, no uneven edges or grout lines. cabinets lined up perfectly, paint was solid. You can tell they actually care about doing it right. Price wise, they weren't the cheapest quote i got but definitely not the highest either. and after seeing how it all turned out, the value was totally there. no sketchy surprises on the invoice either, which I appreciate. We hired Alex's company to completely renovate our two bathrooms (an ensuite and a hallway bath)…read more VERY satisfied with the work he and his team did for us, taking two very outdated and ugly spaces and making them beautiful and 100% more enjoyable. The project was largely cosmetic -- no relocation of plumbing aside from the shower pipes in the master -- but we did remove everything and replace it new. I was responsible for purchasing most fixtures (vanities, mirrors, lighting, faucets, etc) while Alex showed me available finishes (tile) at his showroom over on the eastside and brought those to the jobsite. While it was daunting searching all of the internet for those elements, I did like having that level of control with the design. Keep that in mind, though, if you are NOT comfortable making styling decisions. Alex communicated so well with me and my husband and among his subcontractors too. We were never surprised by a schedule change or an unexpected absence. Julia, who runs the office, also was quick about making updates to paperwork and replying to my questions. Compared to other bids for the project, Alex's pricing was the most competitive and I feel totally satisfied with the value we paid. Without a doubt will ask him to bid on our next big remodel. Ultimately our projects ended on time: one full month from start to finish. Although the first half of the reno ran a little long, Alex and his team made up time with the second half to meet the firm deadline (houseguests).
