I guess the name comes more from this station being centrally located than actually being Brisbane's central station - that title belongs to Roma Street, which is the next stop along. However, as a railway station it is pretty large, and in fact reminds me of some of the European stations that I have visited. Well, the architecture outside is really nice, though I have found that it does happen to be a bit of a maze inside. Still, it is a pretty decent station. read more

Let me set something straight away. I love Brisbane! I think it's such a great city, but I will say something that it is lacking is a regular, reliable public transport system. Central Train Station is a clear indicator of this. It's a bit embarrassing compared to the likes of Flinders Street Station in Melbourne or Grand Central in Sydney, but it's important to bare in mind that little old Brisbane is just that in terms of population...little. My qualm is that the trains can often be so unreliable and so expensive that people just don't see the point of traveling that way. Central also has a strange layout in the sense that sometimes it's OK to use the subway and sometimes it's not, so finding an entry to the station would be tricky for people who don't know the city very well. Central Train Station definitely succeeds in its purpose...but it doesn't exceed. With a bit of a makeover and a plan for it to be a little more user and tourist friendly, it could be able to make people's commute that touch easier. read more
Friendly staff - guy at the ticket counter said "that's a right handed pen" as I grasped it with my left hand signing the credit card receipt copy. And that's why I love brisbane. Plus, the station is a LOT cleaner than central station in Sydney. Lets just say its refreshing to not smell pee and have rubbish all over the floor and benches. The trains, I think, are a little on the expensive side. But go-cards make up for it. read more

Masses of people, hot in summer (even with the huge fans) but it gets you where you need to go.

No assistance provided for my Indian friend, who had a pram with a 3yr old inside. She was standing in the "assistance required" zone, ready to board the train to Gympie North on Sat 3rd Jan 2015 at 5.08pm. The door on this train are not automatic, and she was required to push the doors open while trying to manipulate the pram with child, on board the train. The station assistant, who she had witnessed assisting a small group with a wheelchair on the previous train, from the same stop, kept sweeping the platform and ignored her. She was thankful for the assistance of 2 passengers who saw her plight and came to her aid, but distressed that she was ignored by station staff. read more

I'm not really a fan of Brisbane Central train station. I was here tonight for a job interview. And it's not a very nice environment around this area... Firstly, the station smells of urine ( pee ). And the floors are quite sticky. There are people every where. And there's no air conditioning. There's rubbish all over the place. And it is quite disgusting. It is desperate for a complete refurbishment. Although, all of the trains stop here, so it is quite convenient :) read more
