At the closing of my new home in Savannah Ms. Kathy Villafane presented my closing check to her contractor to repair some issues in the crawl space and electrical. My closing check was already made payable to him. This complaint arises because Ms. Villafane recommended this contractor to me because she said he has worked for her on many previous occasions. I have lost more than $45,000 on my home renovation based on products and services that were paid for but not provided by her contractor. I have attempted to resolve the matter with this vendor, but he-refuses to refund the paid amounts. I was forced to hire other vendors to complete the services of Ms. Villafane's contractor who abandoned the project . I have also found that Ms. Villafane's preferred contractor is not insured or bonded. After reaching out to Ms. Villafane for help with resolving this issue with her recommended contractor, she organized a checklist for him to complete tasks so I could move into my home. Ms. Villafane's contractor ignored her completion list for my new home and ran off with my money. When I filed a complaint with the Sheriff I was surprised to find out his address was an abandon lot . I moved to Savannah, Georgia from Los Angeles, California and I did not know anyone in this area. I relied on the honesty and integrity of my realtor agent to help revitalize my brand-new home. House was cleaned along with carpet but according to them, owner wasn't satisfied.. charged another $600-$700 for carpet to be recleaned when I've called 3 local places and got estimates, the highest was $350.. they said leaves were left in the yard!
