But when I sold my house this summer they had a new escrow officer and it was a very different experience They told me my house had closed escrow so I left my home and checked into a motel. I was not, however, paid. They said I would be paid the next day and that morning confirmed on the phone that I was paid and my money had been wired into my account. After spending some time at my bank I was told that no money was being wired to my account at all. I went in to the business and was finally told that my money was not yet wired to me and that my mortgage had not been paid off yet. They lied to me. The manager tried to tell me that sometimes it takes a few days to get paid. So why was I told escrow closed if I am not paid and I still have a mortgage on the house in my name? I have previously bought and sold eight houses and I have never been treated this way or had problems with being paid. I wouldn't trust this place with my money ever again. Find another escrow company and stay clear of this business. They really do not care and treated me like trash.

The house was turned into a 2 bed plus Den but he insisted it needed to be promoted as a 3 bedroom and this caused confusion w realtors and potential buyers who didn't see a 3 bed when then toured the home. Then I sold the house and the buyers and their realtor were having problems with his communication. I was commiserating with them, because I was having problems as well, and this included his continual negative attitude, so I ended up being the one in the middle, dealing with both sides. He stays at his desk, does paperwork and that's all. He never had a potential buyer to show my house to. And there was no in-person witnessing of inspections or repairs along with me, which was very unlike most listing agents who are very hand's on and on-site. It was all on me, all the time. I had friends feeling sorry for me for having this realtor! The buyers' realtor was such a contrast to mine! She was golden and her clients loved her. And even the day the money for the sale of the house was holding for close in the Title company account - yes, I was in contact with them for follow-up - he was still all pessimistic about whether the financial would go thru, as if some sudden calamity would take place on escrow close date though they were a retired couple and their financials were stable. This realtor made my job of relocation so much more tense and uneasy than it need have been.

I regret that I can not give the company zero stars, but that doesn't seem to be an option. Brian Little is one of the most unpleasant people that I have ever dealt with. He is non-responsive. It often takes five e-mails to get a single response. He never seems to answer his phone, so e-mail is your only option. When he does respond, he can't even provide a direct answer to a very specific direct question. He isn't even knowledgeable in his own business. When trying to remove title exceptions that obviously do not apply, he wants you to prove the title equivalent of one plus one equals two. It's pitiful. He also uses outdated systems making things that more difficult. The only good news is that after years of Curry County Title being the only game in town, AmeriTitle opened an office in Brookings. I had them finish the transaction that I was working on, with none of the issues that I encountered with Curry County Title. I'm happy to recommend them. However, I like having a local office that knows who I am when I call to make odd changes to my policies. For a while, we had someone steal our car title and fradulently get a loan on it, so we had to get our agent office to ONLY accept any changes to our policies if the change was accompanied by a photocopy of our driver licenses, and verify the changes by calling us at home, etc. -- and they were happy to go the extra for us. We just recently moved to Brookings, and ended up with Allen's office in the harbor. The people there are very helpful, prompt, and getting to learn my name. It's all good.
