Probably the worst company ever. Constantly overcharged. Shameless random charges. Crap service. Untrained tech support. Web services that don't work, Customer service is agony at best. Overcharged for months on end with no resolve after dozens of phone calls that all averaged over an hour. Each call I was bounced around from rep to rep confirming my identity every time, while they "noted" my displeasure on my account while never fixing a damn thing. I disputed charges for months until they cut service with no option but to take the beating. I guess that's their sales strategy, "Grind them into submission." Yes two days to restore basic phone services is completely fine. Senior sales reps (2) would call and promise me they would fix things, only to never be heard from again. I honestly can't say enough bad things about this company. I do feel bad for some of their employees, I could not imagine having to deal with the barrage of crap these people have to deal with daily due to a severely broken system. read more

the absolute worst business ever, the slightest rain, breeze or a bird on the wire, takes the phone out, and as of today, 14 days before a repairman comes. they have even removed the online ability to make a quick repair request and force you onto a live chat that took over 35 minutes. they do not value their customers. two tin cans and a string provide better phone service. i am caring for elderly persons in poor health and need a phone, neither cell phone or landline is reliable in the north 29/earlysville area read more

Century Link doesn't even deserve one star. Our experience with them has been HORRIBLE. The customer service team is unhelpful, completely idiotic, and downright rude at times. Not to say I haven't had SOME helpful reps in the 20+ times I have had to contact them, but it is like pulling teeth trying to get any straightforward answers. Oh an look at your bill closely each month, up until now I was being charged $10/month for a modem I returned in MAY. Not to mention the $13 charge for simply changing the account name from my deceased mother's to mine. Lastly, the service in general sucks. But it's the only provider in some parts of the county so you're SOL if you need good quality internet. The second a new provider is able to sneak into Century ink's monopoly over small towns in VA, I'm gone. read more

I have signed up to get Century Link on 09/20/2016 and it is amazing that I already have a complaint after 4 days. I was to get my services installed on 09/23/2016 between the hours of 12 and 4 and nobody showed and nobody called. After contacting them over 3 times that evening through phone and chat I got nowhere. I called this morning and was told that they would be at my home between the hours of 12 and 4 again today 09/24/2016. Again they are a no show and no call. This company can't even contact the technicians directly. They have to page them. This company has very poor customer service and need to be more professional. I seriously hope that this is not a site of things to come in the future. read more

It's been two months since they came out to give me Internet, and they have yet to come out to bury the line. I've called several times and been transferred to several different people and in fact, they have sent several people out to my house yet every single one had said that they got a call for bad internet connection. The products and service both are worst. The internet connection always drops and the customer service is a nightmare. There is so much disconnect among the teams in customer care and they simply blame one team or the other. The billing people doesn't have a clue on how the bill amount is generated and all they know is you are due. The product they offered was 10mbps speed but the maximum speed I could get was 3mbps and 1mbps upload. The wait for technician or for any customer care is a minimum of 40 minutes. I went to the store if they have any knowledge on loss of service and all they could do was gave me a phone number for customer care to reach out to. Good for nothing. Worst internet provider I've ever dealt with. Being new to Charlottesville I wasn't savvy on who to select for internet and went with Century Link because they advertised 3MB high speed internet. Rather than come out and set up the internet, which most companies do, they mailed me the modem to set up myself. After 7 months of service the connection has dropped more and more frequently an I called service for the second time in 2 weeks. The first service tech told me to reset my modem, and the 3MB should work. I've been doing that for 2 weeks and it still drops internet connection. I called again and a second service tech said my area doesn't support 3MB and they sometimes guess on what your area would support. If a tech had come out here in person to install initially, he probably would have figured that out and now I'm stuck in a 2 year contract with the POS internet provider. I've heard Comcast has horrible customer service, but Century Link has horrible connection. read more

We are buying a house in Beaverdam, ZIP Code 23015. Before we put an offer in on the house, we called Century Link to confirm that service was available, we also had seen a century link box at the residence. I work from home. Century link confirmed that service is available at the residence. Last week we called to set up service and we were initially denied. The next day I called back to set up service, and service was approved. We went through all the motions of setting up the service. The following day somebody called and left a message that the order was canceled. Are you mediately called back and spoke with a nice lady in Texas named Diane, Who assured me that after contacting the local plant supervisor named Matthew service could be set up again, after all, all they would have to do is open the port. Well, not only did the plant supervisor never called me, I had to call back, Century link is refusing to set up service for us, even though everybody around us, literally each individual home has service. When asked for a supervisor, I was put through to a lady named Jenny who supposedly is a de-escalation specialist, Jenny did not care that I'm going to lose my job and she did not give me the impression that she or century link had tried everything to get this Account set up for us. Judging by the other reviews I am reading and the lack of response from century link, I can truly say, this is just another big blown up company where the left-hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and nobody really gives a damn. Centurylink's customer service is HORRIBLE. I tried the online chat first, beginning at 10:52 am. Each person talked for a few minutes, then transferred me to someone else; I talked with 5 people (actually 4, because the 5th person was the 1st person I started with. Between "chatting" and being on lengthy holds between transfers, the chat last until 12:04 pm - over an hour, with no resolution. I was given a number to call, which I did. I was on hold for 10 minutes before a person answered, and the connection was bad. She put me on a "two-minute hold" which in actuality was another ten-minute hold. Then she told me there was nothing she could do to resolve the problem I was having. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, or someone with more authority, she said that her department was the last resort and she couldn't give me supervisor names, emails or phone numbers. I am beyond frustrated. I've been a customer for years, but will never use them again and will tell my story at every opportunity. read more

Why am I giving Century Link one star? It's the lowest on your scale. The rural customer has limited choice (or no choice) for internet service providers. I live only a few miles (depending the route) from a major metropolitan market, however, I may as well be in the moon. My only internet option is Century Link. Century Link states that my download speed is supposed to be 10 MBPS... I'm very skeptical of that statement. I've lived in many different areas and Century Link is the slowest High Speed internet service I've ever paid for. In my opinion, the cost is exorbitant when compared to the slow speed and service. My bill recently went up almost $12. As you can imagine, I promptly contacted Century Link Customer Service. After getting to the root cause, which pertained to loyalty discounts, appropriate adjustments were made and the Century Link Customer Service Representative explained to me that my next months bill would be "even less" than my previous monthly billing. GREAT! I was elated to hear that not only would the $12 be adjusted off, but my bills path forward would be less than I had paid in prior months. When I received my next bill, not only was the $12 still present, but the bill went up another $11. So, on my most recent bill the total upswing was $23 over previous months. For a customer who supposedly has a locked price for five years, that's a pretty neat trick. The bad news.... it's still the same SLOW internet service! You have to be in the same room as the Modem to get through an internet session or stream video/Netflix without the signal strength wavering where everything stops.... starts... stops... starts...stops.... On top of that, the signal strength of the Modem is so weak, Century Link Customer Service told me I needed to purchase Net Gear products (which I did) to maximize speed and boost the signal. It did not help. So, I additionally purchased an Apple Airport Extreme, which did help a little, but still there's only a couple of rooms in the home where I can stream video without constant buffering/stoppage/cycling. How bad is it? I sometimes office at home and I get better performance out of a cell phone hot spot or air card than my Century Link High Speed Internet Service. Seriously, I do not use my Century Link High Speed Internet for work... it's too slow. MAJOR Thumbs Down Century Link. read more

Up there with the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I called Century Link on 11/13/15 to disconnect internet service, as I was moving the next day. I was given a pro-rated amount for the final bill of $12.57 and told service would be terminated by the end of that business day. Checked my bank account today (almost 2 mos later) and saw that they have continued to charge me the full amount and did not disconnect the service. After speaking with four people and being on hold for 45 minutes, I was finally transferred to someone who was able to help me. The first two people said they couldn't help me, the third said it was documented on 11/13 that I put the CenturyLink employee on hold and never picked back up, disconnecting the call. Said that I put him on hold to see about transferring service to the new address, after being told I would be charged a $200 early cancellation fee. I already had internet service at the new house and was never told about a $200 fee. I never put anyone on hold. I was quoted the amount of the final bill. I explained this to the last person I spoke to (Becky) and she did finally disconnect the service and said I would be reimbursed for the amount I had been charged since 11/13. Becky was polite and helpful, but it took nearly an hour's worth of hassle, and adamant insistence that what was documented on my account did not happen, before someone finally helped me.
