It's inside the giant, leaning, Montreal Tower, which in itself is really neat to see. In the Olympic Pool area, there is also a small museum too that covers the 1976 Olympic Games. On our tour, the guide explained to our group how the pool (and other smaller pools) were built for the swimming, diving, and other water sports. The pool is still used for recreational swimming by the citizens of Montreal, which I appreciate that they found a new use for it vs. tearing everything down and building over the site.

In 1976 the Summer Olympics were held in Montreal and this facility which is still in the same state as in 1976 with the Olympic rings outside the door was built for the swim competition. Now you have the opportunity to swim in the same pool as the Olympic Athletes. Canadians can buy monthly memberships but Americans can swim here for a daily fee of less than $8.00 CAD with a passport and proof of double vaccination. They even have the viewing stands so bring some friends and family with you to cheer you on like in the Olympics. The pool is super clean--the cleanest I have ever seen. And so are the locker rooms and showers. I had googles on and dove to the bottom a few times and it was cleaner than any pool that I have been in. You are required to keep a face covering on all times walking around except in the pool. ( I got reprimanded initially by the lifeguard for walking near the pool without one.) There are lanes for laps, a kiddie area, and free swim area. There are 2 lifeguards on duty on both sides of the pool. They even have a machine in the locker room to dry your swim suit--worked great! There are open lockers but you will need to bring a lock--we just used our small suitcase locks--it seems relatively safe when we were here. They have benches next to the pool for your towel and things. We took a Uber here from the hotel but if you are driving, park in P5 lot. Give yourself a few hours to come here because if you are not familar its a maze of Olympic buildings and once inside another maze figuring out how to get from the locker room to the pool without walking though another gender's locker room. I had to consult with other swimmers and such nice people in Montreal--they gave me an escort. Just a tremendous experience and we are thankful to the Montreal people for allowing us to "jump in."

Nice newish cardio machines, each one with their own cable tv, tons of group classes in 4 studios: dance, hot yoga, cardio, spinning. A pool, squash courts, a bistro, nice locker rooms, sauna and steam room and just overall really brilliant customer service and clientele. It is about double what you'd pay at Nautilus, but in my opinion it's worth every dollar. one of the best kept secrets of the city.

Le Crux has started a great activity that I just love. Climbing and bouldering! It's an amazing…read moreexercise. A great activity for cardio, strength training and endurance for many muscle groups. Being new to this sport they offer for you to rent climbing shoes and a harness very easily at Le crux for inexpensive. Bring socks. They have many options for day pass, a set # of visits and 1/2 year or annual passes. I started this challenging new sport in the summer time and noticed on a few visits this summer that they do many day camps for young kids. Beware as on the camp days over by the ninja warrior gym those walls can get fairly busy. On the first visit you must sign their waiver and have an intro by a staff member. The process does take a bit of time and thus if there is a big group upon arrival the entrance can get backed up a bit when you arrive. Stay patient. The fun is about to begin. I usually do a bit of top roping at different degrees of difficulty and then go for some bouldering. Bouldering is more difficult and harder on the hands. Working on building up endurance and strength. My average visit is usually around three hours. After that my hands feel sore and chafed. For some of these guys/ girls who are more advanced it's pretty amazing to watch them climb. They make climbing up the walls look so easy! It's like a monkey chasing after a stash of bananas at the top. Oh how I wish this sport was around when I was a scrawny skinny teenager! It would have been easier when I was pounds lighter. :) The complex is quite large with lots of different options from beginner to quite difficult! There is bouldering on the main floor and second floor. Also on the second floor is a gym for strength training. The do sell climbing shoes and chalk in powder and block format. Also there is a cafe with quick healthy prepared food options. Also the have areas where you can sit at a picnic bench, eat a lunch and take in some of the bouldering action. Le crux has announced a new location coming soon in a laval . So I can't wait to see see how it's planned out different. Also hopefully they allow you have access to visit both locations with a membership. It's a great sport and great activity to take young kids along with to burn off some steam. Bummer that the restaurant is a Subway instead of something local though! There were all kinds of other rooms and areas for ju jitsu and a track for running and every seat in the area seemed to offer a pretty great view of the action. The location is great, near the Olympic Stadium and Parc Maissoneuve, and tons of parking for both bikes and cars.

Everyone here is there to get fit, stay fit, and they respect the place and the equipment. 2. True training. A gym that's not just for getting in shape (e.g. gym muscles). This is a legit training facility. I haven't seen much of this in commercial gyms (only at say, college athletics training facilities). 3. Respect. No sales tactics. 4. No waiting. Multiple identical workout stations (if there's a unique machine or rack or board or bar you love and rarely shows up at commercial gyms, or if they have it, they have one. When I first walked in, I was warmly greeted by an ultra nice girl behind the counter who checked me in, gave me the "low down" of the place, and gave me a parking pass for free parking. I was then introduced to Holly, the instructor - great greeting, a handshake, and a little friendly banter. Not to mention - she is a visual version of fitness and what a spin instructor looks like to me. The class started - can I just tell you as an instructor myself for more than twenty years - the teaching and level of instruction was beyond amazing, and very high level! Holly's class was one of the best classes I've taken in the all my years - so impressed by her motivation, her uplifting voice, and amazing personality on the mic. Again - a beyond amazing instructor - one of the best I've encountered. Too bad she'll be leaving there at the end of the month Highly recommend Bcycle in Westmount! Great spin studio!
