I took it in to Chess Ceramic & Supply hoping against hope that something could be done to fix it. The way it was broken, it was useless. I just didn't want to let go of this family heirloom. The lamp is back! They were able to build a new base, match the original paint and make the lamp look like it was never damaged. I cannot express my gratitude for saving this lamp. What I found was a dark shadow of the past slipped in with cute signs and family photos that told me I was not welcome there. They did not want my custom. At all. What set me off to the point that I felt the need to make an account here and warn everyone who's willing to read my review about the proprietors of Viking Sewing Center? That would be the prominently displayed photos of an SS officer, decked out in his death's head and double lightning bolts, complete with the red armband. Anyone with eyes and a soul sees that photo, knows it's wrong, and the smart ones turn around and walk away. I'm drawing a blank as to how this shop stays in business. It doesn't matter if they do good work. They might have the best prices and customer service in the known universe, but that can never take the place of a first impression that insinuates that the world would be better without me and others like me in it. This isn't a trivial gripe and shouldn't be overlooked because there is nothing funny about Nazis. As a mixed-race person, I find things like this about as trivial as an aortic rupture.

Great little art co-op downtown…read more I stopped in to pick up a print I had purchased from a local artist and was impressed by all the amazing items in the store. Prints, pottery, baskets, woodwork, and a lot more. You could spend a bit of time in the store and come away with some unique, one of a kind local art pieces. Located just behind Aunties Bookstore, next to Barrister's tasting room. You could make a great local day perusing books, art, tasting local wine, and walking the park. I can't wait to go back for a longer browse and purchase an item or two for Mother's Day.

They have jewelry makers, glass workers, painter, pretty much anything you can think of. The shop is run by the artists themselves, and they are some of the sweetest people. They are very knowledgeable about what is in the store and willing to talk to you about anything if you have any questions. It is all local artists, so it makes for great souvenirs for people coming in from out of town. Or even for locals who want something made locally to decorate their house. One of the really cool things is that each month they have an art show that showcases both artists in their gallery and others who are interested in participating. The work is always changing in both the gallery and the shows so you aren't walking in and seeing the same stuff every time. I find this particularly fun and cool because it gives you a reason to go back and just explore what they have and see new things. It's a small little galley that is located in the Liberty building, right where Auntie's Bookstore and Uncle's games is. It is completely worth checking out if you want to find something unique and original that will remind you of Spokane or the Pacific Northwest.
