EXCELLENT experience working with Sal and the crew. I had a house full of overnight visitors, prepping for a party the next day and had an issue at 10p on a Friday night. Called Certified after a friend recommended them, Sal took his time with me on the phone talking through the issue - and my panic - as I was prepping for visitors early Saturday. We did not need a pump that night/determined we could make it through the night and Sal fit us in the next day before more guests arrived on Saturday morning for a pump and investigation (since we had another company pump less than one year ago). As it turns out, our old system was crumbling and it was time for a new one (he showed us, was not upselling). One week later, the crew was back to install an entire new system. They were here until 8:30p to get the job done right. It was a brutal day for them but we are so appreciative that they did not rush and handled everything with proper care and attention. If I could give negative stars, I would. Certified Cesspools left my property in disgraceful condition, caused significant damage, and then tried to deflect blame at every turn. Here's what you need to know before hiring this company: When the work was done, they left exposed wires and broken sprinkler heads all over the site -- with zero warning or explanation. Thousands of dollars of damage, and not a single courtesy call. I was staring at a wire sticking out of my lawn, confused and appalled, and when I asked for clarification, I was met with defensiveness and gaslighting. The owner of the company insisted it was "normal" for wires and sprinkler lines to be left exposed -- that this was actually a favor to us. Apparently, we should be grateful that the system was left like a hazardous mess because otherwise, the repair crew would've had to "search for the lines." Are you kidding me? Not only was this not explained ahead of time, it wasn't explained at all. The contract made no mention of any of this. When I pointed that out, the owner changed his story and said it was verbally communicated to my husband (it wasn't) -- and then doubled down by claiming it had been mentioned "three separate times." Lies on top of lies. Throughout the call, the owner: Interrupted constantly. Blamed our sprinkler company for putting lines in a "bad spot" -- as if that somehow justified breaking them and walking away. Insisted that they "can't see underground" -- which, yes, is obvious, but doesn't excuse total negligence. Told me I shouldn't be upset because they're "not landscapers or electricians." If you're not qualified to deal with what you're damaging, don't damage it. The sheer arrogance and lack of professionalism is astounding. I had to drag out every piece of information. Only after I got visibly angry did they finally admit that the wire was probably for the sprinkler system (which no longer works) and that I now need to pay additional contractors to fix everything they destroyed. At no point did anyone take real responsibility. Instead, I was told to be more "realistic" and that this "happens every day." Maybe it does -- with this company. read more

We had a terrible experience with this company. On the first visit they spent about an hour punching holes in the lawn and could not find the cesspool - charged us $272. They came back the next day with a snake and determined that the cesspool was under the deck and we had to remove it to give them access. After we spent hours removing the deck, they came back a third time and determined that the cesspool was not located under the deck and they could not find it - another $272. Complete waste of time and money. I had another company come (check out my profile for their name) and they found the cesspool in 15 min, which was 20 ft away from where "Certified" claimed it was. Ok here is an update to my initial review. The owner did reach out to me today- was BERY apologetic about the miscommunication and he did make it right. Up to this point he has followed up with what he promised and I am COMPLETELY satisfied with what has transpired this far: Nick came out, did a THOROUGH diagnosis of what my issue is, gave me multiple options ( from his least recommended to the best possible solution for a permanent resolution) to resolve the issue definitively taking into consideration all my concerns. Nick along with the Tony has set my mind at ease and raised my confidence level that they WILL in fact do as promised and I anticipate being satisfied with the outcome. I reached out to Certified Cesspool on Yelp looking for a septic system assessment for a newly purchased home, and they auto-responded asking me to call them the next day. I did, and they had a crew out later that day. They emptied the septic tank, but couldn't locate the overflow cesspool, so they explained how to get the survey from the Suffolk County Department of Health Services Wastewater Management Division in Yaphank. I did that the next day, and Certified Cesspool scheduled a crew to come back out a few days later. When they returned, they found the cesspool and confirmed that it needed to be emptied, too, in addition to having a riser installed on it to bring it up to just below ground level. A sprinkler line was cut in the process, but then again, who runs a sprinkler line right over a buried cesspool cover? And, Certified warned me of the possibility before it happened, which was appreciated, and they were kind enough to leave the severed ends sticking up so the sprinkler guy can repair them. Their communication is timely and efficient, their people are knowledgeable and competent, and the entire experience was a delight from beginning to end. On a recent Friday night my cesspool had an issue. Contacted a company who came out to resolve my issue on Saturday as an emergency. After about two hours and several hundred dollars they were unable to assist. In desperate need of help I reached out to several companies which indicated that they offered emergency service. I'm still waiting for a call back after leaving voicemails. I kept looking, and contacted Certified Cesspool on a Sunday afternoon. Much to my surprise an actual person answered the phone (Sal I believe) he explained that he could be at my home in an hour and assist. He further explained that since it was later in the day and we hadn't been using the water at all over the weekend, we'd be fine until the next day and that we could at least minimally use the water until Monday morning. Monday morning as schedule, on time Nick (who texted me to let me know he was on his way) appeared at my door. Nick managed to find my cesspool in about 10 minutes, what the other company who was at my house couldn't do in two hours. He located the pool exposed the cover and explained the next steps in detail. An hour later the second crew (Mike and Matt) showed up with a pump truck and got me up and running temporarily until the permanent repair could be made. True to their word Jerry showed up at my home as scheduled and prepared the area for Mike and Matt to return and complete the repairs. An hour later Mike and Matt returned and explained everything they were doing in detail made me very comfortable in understanding, what happened, why it happened and the remedy. They left the front of my house they way they found it. Other than having to place some grass seed on the lawn its as if they were never there. All this at a very very reasonable price. Most noteworthy is that every representative from Certified was knowledgeable, professional and respectful. Can't say enough about how the interaction with each of them was. Last few days, smelled methane gas coming from the bathroom. The cesspool hadn't been pumped in 10 years. Looked up cesspool pumpers on Yelp, and Certified seemed to have a terrific rating, so, I went with them. Sal, the owner, called back within 5 minutes of my contacting him on Yelp. He sent his men over. They had a very difficult time locating the cesspool, but, they didn't give up, even as it turned dark. Sometimes, it's hard to find, as cesspools are deep in the ground. They worked Very hard in the cold weather. After 3 hours, they found the access to the cesspool, and installed an access pipe so the next time, no one has to dig. I asked this company to perform an inspection of a house we are planning to buy. They came on short notice, could not access the septic tank as there was an unmovable rock on the access rider, but were able to send a camera through the pipes (which were hard to find and access) to give me a thorough report on the system. Very bad! The drain line was clogged a month ago. Just clean it cost me $450. The most important is it doesn't work!! They claimed they fixed it. But just in 4 days, clog happen again. The second time, they want to add more job such as pumping the cesspool, otherwise they would not come. Second time cost us $380. Crap! In one and half week, the line clogged again. Even has 30 days guarantee, they claimed any grease clog is not included. THAT IS RIDICULOUS! They didn't do right thing. Never use them again. read more

Called again, this time for a guy to come out and snake the pipes out. He gave up after afew hours of trying, and charge for services rendered..
