I found C3 Welding thru a trailer ad on Craig's List-Charlotte, and after researching and examining…read moremany other trailers out there (Tractor Supply, Northern Tool, Big Tex, and PJ), I felt unsettled and reserved about both the price and quality of those trailers, so I contacted Christian at C3 Welding. On the phone Christian was well-spoken, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. He was honest and up front about how he builds his trailers, what materials he uses, and how his compare to many others out there. I committed to buy a 6x10 trailer with a spare tire, and the final cost was $1150.00. Christian did all the work himself (prep, welding, assembly, wiring, and painting), and he had it built in about two weeks. I was allowed to pick up the trailer on a Saturday afternoon, and before I left, Christian showed me around his shop and highlighted some of the details that go into his trailers: Welded gussets/steps around wheel fenders, extra running lights, removable tailgate, larger tires, 3500 lb axle, 5 welded tie downs around the frame, flip up jack, heavy duty safety chains, and a proper wood deck with no gaps. He uses a special Sherwin Williams black enamel paint for the finish. The trailer rides smooth, and with the tailgate off, my Ford Explorer was getting about 22-24 mpg. I recently took a road trip from NC to Ohio to bring back an ATV and plow attachment I bought. Trailer felt great empty and loaded up. Last weekend I used it to haul some topsoil, and it gandled a full trailer load no problem! I am very happy with Christian at C3 Welding. I got a good quality trailer at a mid-level price, and because I saw it built from the frame up, I know exactly what I was getting. Installation took about 3 hours and he cleaned up all the packaging and old hardware. You can calculate the fee on his website and he was willing to work on Sunday (which we didn't do). He kept in communication throughout the delivery process and showed up on time. In my opinion...Ken is a stand up guy and offers a great service at a reasonable rate. He's also a GC so we may be calling him again for other projects around the house.
