I love real Spanish bars. I always have. La Cervecería Alemana is one of those iconic places in Madrid that one must experience. I've tried to get here for a caña for a number of years. My walks through Madrid simple took my to other neighborhoods. Well, I finally made it to this great bar as I continue to retrace Ernest Hemingway's footsteps. I've run with the bulls and had a few beers at Café Iruña in Pamplona, drank with Hemingway's ghost in northern Michigan, and now had some great tapas and beers at the Cervecería Alemana. La Cervecería Alemana: We had a legendary experience- great Spanish bar food (tortilla, bocarones, tintos de verano and some cañas). The quality was what one would expect. The service was friendly and warm. Our waiter atended to us as needed, with a smile. The atmosphere was perfect. I greatly enjoyed my 3 hour experience with my family at Cervecería Alemana. We'll be back. Edit: Please disregard the ignorant, excessively unfair views from Ohio. Sometimes the aperitif is quite simple like olives or nuts. I've had Spanish friends receive what you received with their beer. Big deal, it's part of the experience.

    Another beer option.

Enjoy a traditional tapas bar (since 1904) that just happens to have a good selection of different beers right in Plaza Santa Ana. The food is really good and the waiters are very professional. We happened to be staying at a hotel nearby so planned to try this place, but then a native Madrid friend (older gentleman) suggested it so we knew it would probably be good. We were not disappointed.

Jamie was an absolute pleasure! So very knowledgeable and wanted to try out his English on us - he was outstanding!

Came here via others recommendation and that of Anthony Bordain. This place did not disappoint! We had the meat and cheese tray and Jamie explained everything g on the plate - really made it an experience.

This was the jerk that refused us service bc he didn't want to put 2 tables together.

While I missed a Micky D's trip while I was in Spain, I was able to keep up my Starbucks record...but I was able to check off another tradition - visit a local brewery in every country I visit. Well, I was actually able to visit two while in Spain. YOLO. Came in the Fabrica Maravillas after spotting it on Yelp - since it was a quick (relatively) walk from our hotel. I was on a mission to connect with my good bud - Mr. Yelp Madrid, Lolo R - and this was where we decided to meet up to have a beer and catch up. Super friendly bartender that explained each beer for us and recommended the one I went with - The Dark Ale. It was fantastic. Sweet notes, perfectly carbonated and not too heavy. Their glasses are in 3 sizes - small, medium, large. The Medium is a good size as it is. 2 mediums and a small was only 10€. I also got a bottle that was €4 (50cl). It was hoppy and went PERFECT with a fried seafood plate I had it with when I got back home. Small tap room - as are all places in Spain, but they are brewing up some good stuff! Check them out! Side note - Shout out to the guy in there that was also from Fort Lauderdale and overheard me talking and immediately hollered out "FUNKY BUDDHA!" haha super nice guy, hope you find this review dude. Always nice to know my home team brewery is that well known.
