Very good Cuban Food, great ambiance, and live music. Kitchen closes at 11:30pm. Appetizers: Frituras de Malanga were very good. Crisp outside and mushy inside. Melt in the mouth treat. Chicharrones, Pork Cracklings with Meat we're well seasoned and cooked. Daiquiris, really Cuban drink. Santera Dish: Picadillo, Arroz, Frijoles Negros & Tostones. The Picadillo, the best in a restaurant that I have ever eaten. Tasted homemade. The Black Beans, excellent. Bisteck Empanizado: ( Escalooe Mikanesa) came with Fries & Salad, it was ok. Veguero: another hit Ropa Vieja in a savory tomato sauce with Tamal & Moros. Dessert Cascos de Guayaba & Cream Cheese. The music started and we stayed with Vermouth drinks to enjoy the show for awhile. Service was attentive.

    Pork, rice and beans. Tasty

Not a tapas bar and I was too early for the music performance, but I arrived in a decent time that I actually managed to get a table! Good service from the waitress who was friendly but didn't understand too much English. I managed to get through with "Cerveza" and pointing at something on the menu that looked good. It turned out to be a huge portion of roast pork loin, served with white rice and black beans. The pork was very tasty and pretty moist. The black beans were terrific. Better than anything I had in ten years of living in Fort Lauderdale, I think. You do have to get here early, or perhaps book a reservation if you want to enjoy the music.

Viva Cuba in Madrid! Stumbled upon this place looking to hear live music and it didn't disappoint us. Music didn't start until 11pm ish... we had a table in the back of the restaurant close to the band. We started with some appetizers made with yuca and some tostones (felt like we were back in Miami) everyone who works there is from Cuba. The band was awesome and played some music we danced too. It was low key, didn't turn into a club atmosphere but more like a Latin lounge. The food was good, got a Cuban sandwich and a little espresso aka cortadito .. which helped me dance the night away. Wine was affordable and mojitos were too sweet for my taste buds. If you are looking for live entertainment without having to pay the ridiculous show fee some of these flamenco restaurants do then this is your spot. Live Latin music, wine and fun times. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Would recommend this spot to people of all ages.

    29 mojitos later...

I honestly can't say enough great things about this place. I'm originally from the Caribbean, so after 3 weeks of tapas and Spanish food, I was craving something from home. I was recommended this restaurant by a friend of mine who studied abroad in Spain for a couple of months. As soon as I walked in I could smell the delicious food. If you are not familiar with Cuban food, don't fret. The menu was in English and Spanish and also had pictures of every item. I took a couple of Australian friends with me and they found it easier to order (with some of my help of course). The first thing I noticed was the amount of mojitos that were being prepped at the bar. I figured they must be very good and popular here if they are preparing that many. After we all scarfed our dishes we decided to order mojitos. The food, by the way, was phenomenal. Everyone cleaned their plates dry. I was in heaven. But back to the mojitos.... We ordered a round of 6 mojitos. They were fantastic! Such good flavor! Well, let me tell you HOW GOOD the mojitos were that we ended up with TWENTY NINE, yes 29 mojitos on the final check. The only reason we did not stay longer was that after 11:30pm, the mojitos were no longer on special because the live music began to play. Before 11:30pm the mojitos were 6€ each. The live music was great, we should have stayed longer, but 170€ later on just mojitos we decided to go drink somewhere cheaper. I will definitely come back to this place and I recommend it to anyone who has maybe had too many tapas on their trip.

Cant get enough of this place. Honestly im a little upset theres a two star review that completely butchered the ratings. This place is a must goto if you want something other than the abundant plethora of tapas and breads in Madrid. Reasonable price for amazing meals.

I visited on a rainy Thursday night so there wasn't a large crowd and I grabbed an open seat at the end of the bar. A friendly gentleman gave me a menu and asked what I was interested in. When I mentioned the Old Fashioned, he advised that it was an Amaro-based version without the usual bourbon/whiskey spirit. I noticed a Brooklyn and commented that I sometimes made those at home. Very politely he noted that if I was making them in the US, it wasn't with Amer Picon, which isn't available in the US. He's right. So an actual, real Brooklyn it would be! I thoroughly enjoyed the Brooklyn. I also enjoyed some brief conversation with the bartender who was very good. The kind who uses the spoon or straw to taste each drink to ensure it was made properly. As I was paying my bill and mentioning to the gentleman who initially greeted me that I wanted to bring my business partners here later in the week, he wrote his phone number on a business card and told me to call him in advance as the bar got very busy when it wasn't raining. Turns out, this friendly man is Alberto the owner! Guess I didn't do quite as much research as I could have! I regret we weren't able to make a second visit to 1862 Dry Bar on this particular trip, but it is going to be my first stop next time I'm back in Madrid. Great vibe, excellent staff and a classy and friendly owner.

Certainly, with a place like this, all of the specific *drinks* may well have changed, being that they were all so technical, with so many house or freshly made moving parts, i.e. my favorite kind of nerdy cocktail bar. But presumably they're still making drinks as cool as the were a few months ago. They don't take reservations, so we just got there right when they opened, which is the way to do it. There were only a couple other people there right at 4 that day, but within half an hour, it was completely full. (Also yeah, Yelp says they open at 5 PM, but they... definitely open at 4.) Despite being *very* busy, we never had any difficult ordering drinks, nor getting them back quickly, and I ordered a... bunch of drinks (well, with my wife, who despite not normally being a cocktail person, was definitely drinking her share of all of them.) I absolutely loved the detailed descriptions of exactly how each cocktail is made (I learned a new word, enfleurage! In this case, of cardamom through peanut butter), the amount of effort that clearly went *into* all of them (house-made hop distillate, falernum, gin they re-distilled with pickle brine, the enfleurage, to quote, a "labor-intensive perfume extraction process"...), but more importantly, I can't stress enough, all of their cocktails were absolutely *wonderfully* delicious. All quite unique enough to scratch the itch for weird cocktail nerds like me, who don't want to drink classics, but unique concepts no other bar has done - but also all perfectly balanced and quite complex, both the spirit-forward ones (a Vieux Carre with mango chutney and hop extract instead of Benedictine and bitters! A Negroni that's been aged in ex-sherry barrels in a solera system like a sherry!), and the wacky sweet-savory ones (pisco milk punch and fish sauce! Mezcal and ponzu sauce, clarified through Greek yogurt! Citrus, balsamic, fancy honey and pickle gin!) All their drinks absolutely lived up to the hype. I don't know if any of those drinks are still available, but if not, I'm sure equally inventive ones took their place, so either way, I'd definitely make sure to come back if I happened to back in the area instead of halfway across the planet. We didn't get food here, just drinks - but we absolutely took *full* advantage of the complimentary chips being offered. When we discovered how wonderful their (made in-house) chips were, we kept asking for more. We went through a *bunch* of little plates of chips. Especially as they went *particularly* well with all of the cocktails, again, both spirit-forward and interestingly sweet-savory-funky cocktails, paired really well with craft chips. The drinks already made this place a 5/5, but with the free all-you-want craft chips? That's like a 6 out of 5.

Everyone must have been hung over from the night before. Or still sleeping. The die hard NYE revelers stay out until about 7 AM in this country. Not me. I can't hang. Overall, the cocktail menu has about 20 of the usual suspects: martini, strawberry daiquiri, mai tai, manhattan, sidecar, etc. No prices in the menu but expect to pay about 7,25 each. In other words, about half the price you'd pay at a cocktail bar in New York, so a major bargain for me. The sidecar was delicious, as was the whiskey sour. While not explicitly clear in the menu, this place will either create cocktails for you or let you create your own. Just ask. Desperately wanting paella across the street at La Barraca, the unoccupied waiter took the time to run across the street to check on availability, then again to make a reservation. Excellent customer service, though he was taken aback at my gesture of a small tip for his efforts, which he reluctantly accepted. Bottom line is there really aren't that many bars in Madrid dedicated specifically to cocktails, despite the size of the city. Consider this place a rarity. Other: Very classy decor. Cool music. Chill vibes. Free wifi zone. No food.
