    Rose Falooda

I've only had their Rose falooda and it was such a unique nice treat. I would come back again for it. They even scoop ice cream on top! delicious!! There is a washroom at the back and the place gets really busy. It's a lot bigger than it seems from the outside.

Dahi Puri, Chachi's Karak Chai and Pink Chai

Really enjoyed Chachi's Chai Bar in Pickering! It's a big and spacious cafe with a good amount of seating and doesn't feel crowded. It was also very clean. As a little afternoon pick me up, we got Chachi's Karak Chai, a Pink Chai, and Dahi Puri. Our total was $20. Both our chais were delicious. The Pink Chai has a more nutty taste and is topped with nuts. It's also sweeter than Chachi's Karak Chai. I personally prefer this over the Pink Chai just because the sweetness of the Pink Chai is a little too much for me. The Dahi Puri was good. It came with 6 pieces for $9. Their food menu was very enticing so I can't wait to try out more items on their menu.

Iced pistachio latte and iced red city latte (cardamom)

Love this place! Came everyday with my family while we were in town. The ambiance is beautiful and spacious, a great place to study or to hang out with friends. We tried the iced red city latte, iced pistachio latte, and a pink chai for drinks. All were delicious and flavorful with perfect amount of sweetness. The iced red city latte was my favorite because of the rose and cardamom flavors. I also tried gingerbread cookies which were the perfect amount of ginger and cinnamon and had a great softness to crunch ratio. Really loved this place and can't wait to come back next time I'm in town!

    Inside - plenty of seating

I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Chachi's Chai Bar. Pickering has had a few chains open up but what I love about this is the unique comforts that a chai and snack bar brings with it. They open at 11 am which is a bit later in the day but makes sense since they serve food, but FINALLY a place to chill in Durham that closes at midnight! I love the ambience. It's hip and I love the East-meets-West vibe. Plenty of seating with couches to relax and take it easy but tables if you want to do a bit of work. They also have wifi. The chai is pretty decent with hot options and cold. Karak chai is classic and the perfect sip but the only issue is they steep the tea in milk so you can't opt for dairy or lactose-free options. They also have chai shakes which are like a Chai Iced Capp - yum! They also have classics like falooda and traditional Indian snacks that I haven't tried but will definitely have the next time I'm here. Great customer service and sweet employees!

This was first visit. I heard great things about the Scarborough location so I was excited to try it We ordered the masala chai and original chai. The masala chai tasted better and had more aroma and flavour compared to the original. The chai didn't taste like it was steeped on the stove top and more like from a tea bag. We also ordered the savoury fries with everything on the side. The fries were good and I like really enjoyed the aioli sauce. We also ordered the chowpatty chaat. That was pretty good but I wished the yogurt was warm rather than cold. I think that would've complimented the dish better. The store is very clean and the service is good. They have a good amount of tables.

Was quite intrigued with this place when I first heard about it. I thought to myself what a nice place to get some chai and relax. What surprised me, was that they have many various snack items, which are quite delightful. The interior is also quite upscale which was a pleasant surprise. They have a great selection of indianstreetfood, and it's quite authentic. I got the chowpattychaat and the dahipuri. It was delicious. I washed it all down with the juhiblast refresher. Give this place a try if your in the mood for some tasty Indian snacks. Good to see these kind of places opening in Durham

Rose kahwa - really good and highly recommend. But if you would like chai with milk, go for pink chai

Ordered food for pickup. Butter paneer panini and the rose tea were amazing. The aalo tikki bun was tasty but not worth $9. This place is overpriced and not somewhere I would visit often. The place inside has good vibes to chill

Walking in, the space is mostly kitchen, with no seating (under COVID conditions). The previous (burger) restaurant that occupied this space before had only two tables of two and a counter in the window. There are currently two tables of four set up under a tent in the parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant. These tables could have been cleaner. In addition to TV screens hanging from the ceiling, there is a large menu on the wall with (I'm guessing) their six most popular items. I ordered the Tandoori(?) chicken from this menu. It included two leg quarters, salad, rice, naan, and a drink for only $9.99. Not a bad deal. It took about fifteen minutes for my order to be completed. A few other customers were ahead of me, also waiting, some impatiently. Once ready, I sat at one of the tables out front. Hmmm, no napkins? Only a spoon to eat with? Where's my drink? Once I got that sorted, it was time to eat. The chicken was a tad on the dry side and the flavours a bit understated. The salad consisted of lettuce, cucumbers, and red onions. The naan was large and fresh. The rice was plentiful, nice and fluffy. I'm used to bolder flavours in Indian cuisine. Overall, it was just okay. I'm used to bold flavours but I found the chicken a bit underseasoned. While the food wasn't bad, it wasn't as good as I was anticipating. Hopefully, these issues will be sorted out in time. PS - The fly strips hanging in the restaurant were a bit of a turn off.

I haven't had a chance to get to Zeera during the pandemic and I have missed it terribly so tonight I hopped onto Uber Eats and placed an order! I opted for some oldies but goodies and a couple of dishes I hadn't tried before. The bread basket is definitely a must have. All of their naan is delicious and I can never choose just one kind. Why not get an assortment? The other staple I ordered was Aloo Gobi. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked, as always. The dishes I hadn't tried before at Zeera were their chicken biryani and paneer korma. Both dishes were incredible and I will definitely order them again. I've had saag paneer countless times but I've never heard of paneer korma. I love korma so how could I go wrong? A definite winner! (I made my own Raita though.) When you compare price to serving sizes, it's one of the more expensive restaurants I go to but when I'm in the mood for Indian cuisine, Zeera is my go-to!

We tried the Amritsari paneer tikka - it's to die for! I really loved the marination on it wanted the flavour ( one of the best I have had in Canada). I'm not sure how long they've been there or why I hadn't noticed them before but I'm always up for a good curry so we popped in for dinner. The menu is quite extensive and it took us a while to look over everything. Since this was our first time here, we opted for dishes we were familiar with so we could benchmark them against our favourite Indian restaurant. Our selection consisted of Aloo Gobi Masala, Tandoori Butter Chicken, Malai Lamb Curry, Super Naan, Masala Raita and Basmati Rice. Everything looked and smelled amazing so we were excited to tuck in. First, I have to say, this Aloo Gobi has set the bar higher and is now the benchmark by which all future Aloo Gobi dishes will be compared against. The curry dishes were also amazing. In fairness, ordering butter chicken was safe, but we also wanted to have something we hadn't tried before. You can never go wrong with lamb and the description of the Malai Lamb Curry sounded irresistible... it left me gobsmacked. Are you kidding me? This dish is packed with flavour and the lamb was cooked to perfection. We actually considered packing up the rest of the sauce to bring home. Honestly, it's that good. Definitely a MUST! Absolutely everything from start to finish was delicious. The owner/chef (?) came out for a chat and to regale us with descriptions of other dishes to try next time... and believe me, there will definitely be a next time! Have I just found my new favourite Indian restaurant? I think I might have.

Although Daal Roti has been open for four years now, and is very close to home, this was my first time dining here. The food was decent but it wasn't very warm, and appeared a bit sparse. My favourites included the Mutton Curry and the Butter Chicken. A couple of the veggie dishes were also good but I don't know the names of them. Sadly, the Tandoori Chicken was very dry. Overall, the food was just okay It was raining outside and this floor was SLIPPPERY. I mean dangerously slippery, like walking on ice. Thank goodness I was able to maintain my balance. I had scrolled through their Instagram and really loved the fact that I could get Thali here! It takes me back to when I would got for a curry in England. There's just something about all the little dishes with flavourful treats that just makes me happy. We arrived shortly after 1pm on a Friday and there was just one other couple in the restaurant. There's not a lot of seating so I would imagine this place is bustling on the weekends with their buffet. The restaurant is tidy and the gentleman who served us was really nice and very helpful. After looking at the menu and having a chat with the waiter, I opted for the non-veg Thali. Apparently, it's normally a takeaway dish but for an additional $2, you can have it in the restaurant. So, we had assumed the reason for the extra couple of quid was because they would be using proper dishes and the extra labour for cleaning that, etc. etc.. Apparently not. We were both taken aback when our lunch was served to us in a plastic takeaway container. I'm not going to lie, it was a little disappointing. Part of dining out at a restaurant is the experience and plastic just doesn't cut it. The food was really good and there certainly was plenty of it. We were both satisfied with our lunch and I would definitely come back again to try other dishes. I'm not sure I would order this dish again though, given the presentation. Because of that, I can only give this restaurant a 3-star at this time.
