We went for an impromptu late night dinner, and we had a great time. The place is really cozy and great atmosphere for romantic dinners as well as family outings. We tried the Amritsari paneer tikka - it's to die for! I really loved the marination on it wanted the flavour ( one of the best I have had in Canada). Also tried the Kadai Paneer( I could however handle more spice though). Their garlic Naan is amazing too. Overall, really loved the food( specifically the green chutney). I was in the mood to try a new restaurant (well, new to me) and Pickering is full of excellent international cuisine. I happened to spot this place a couple of weeks ago when driving by. I'm not sure how long they've been there or why I hadn't noticed them before but I'm always up for a good curry so we popped in for dinner. The menu is quite extensive and it took us a while to look over everything. Since this was our first time here, we opted for dishes we were familiar with so we could benchmark them against our favourite Indian restaurant. Our selection consisted of Aloo Gobi Masala, Tandoori Butter Chicken, Malai Lamb Curry, Super Naan, Masala Raita and Basmati Rice. Everything looked and smelled amazing so we were excited to tuck in. First, I have to say, this Aloo Gobi has set the bar higher and is now the benchmark by which all future Aloo Gobi dishes will be compared against. The curry dishes were also amazing. In fairness, ordering butter chicken was safe, but we also wanted to have something we hadn't tried before. You can never go wrong with lamb and the description of the Malai Lamb Curry sounded irresistible... it left me gobsmacked. Are you kidding me? This dish is packed with flavour and the lamb was cooked to perfection. We actually considered packing up the rest of the sauce to bring home. Honestly, it's that good. Definitely a MUST! Absolutely everything from start to finish was delicious. The owner/chef (?) came out for a chat and to regale us with descriptions of other dishes to try next time... and believe me, there will definitely be a next time! Punjabi restaurant but they say all the meat is halal from Amir n Sargeant Farms. We had the fish curry, chicken tikka biryani, malai curry, masala fries, garlic naan and butter chicken. Four years after my first review, Milanu's is still preparing delicious, savoury, spicy food for their clientele, which appear to be mostly take-out customers. There are a few tables in the restaurant to accommodate those who want to eat in, but it is very much a take-out vibe. I ordered, of course, take out and it was ready, hot and fresh for exactly the time that I had requested. The naan and Paratha, both baked in the tandoor, were clearly fresh off the fire, as were the tandoori shrimp and tandoori mushrooms. I would recommend their tandoori grill items without reservation: the smoky flavour of the tandoor really shines, lending that savory smokiness to all the tandoor dishes, even the breads. The tandoori shrimp were huge and juicy. The tandoori mushrooms are something that I have not encountered before, and they were plump, big, juicy, spicy and smoky. A very complex and very pleasant flavour profile! The Tandoori Butter Chicken also featured that signature smokiness, but in a mild cream sauce. It contrasted with the spicy shrimp and mushrooms. The tandoori chicken saved the meal for my daughter, who is quite spice averse. I had requested mildly spiced food, and I found the mushrooms and shrimps to have a distinct spiciness, which I enjoyed but my spice-shy daughter found overpoweringly hot. For me, all the spicing was excellent. It was fragrant, brought on some heat, but was not so hot as to be overwhelming. The staff at this little family restaurant is friendly and helpful, and will cheerfully guide your selection of food if you ask for their help. They have a rich selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes, which I will explore more fully in future orders. For well-spiced, smokey, flavorful Indian food, look no further than Milanu's! Parking is generally plentiful, making for a relatively hasstle-free take out experience. I keep forgetting to do this, but if you pay in cash, you get a 10 percent discount. read more

I have tried this place couple of times - once for just my Tikki chaat cravings and other times for proper dinner. After my bunch of trials, I highly recommend their Tikki Chaat - so so good that it will give Indian street food vendors run for money. I recently discovered this new restaurant while driving by and I just had to check it out. I love Indian food! It's a tiny little spot, with seating for only 10 diners at 3 tables. Most of their business is takeout. I chose to dine in for a late lunch and all of their customers during that time were takeout. With several yummy choices, I settled on the Tandoori Butter Chicken with rice and a samosa. A drink was included. The meal, served in a round plastic takeout container, minus the lid, had rice completely smothered in a delicious butter chicken sauce but only a few pieces of boneless chicken. Although I would have preferred more meat, It was rich in flavour and tasted really good! The samosa was also very good. I'll have to come back to try more of heir offerings. read more

A great spot for Indian food in Pickering! I believe it's a relatively new addition to the Whites Road Shopping Centre. You're able to order online through their own website which is a great alternative to going through an app. They specialize in tandoori dishes which are grilled items in a clay oven. They have a lot of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options for each area of their menu from wraps, BBQ, and curry dishes. There's a lot of delicious sounding side dishes from butter paneer poutine to chicken 65. We were happy enough to find out that they actually do everything really well! The butter chicken was so creamy and flavourful. The sauce was soaked up with their huge, fluffy, and tasty garlic naan. The chunks of chicken were incredibly tender as well. We also had two dishes from the grill - the tandoori chicken tikka and the malai chicken tikka. Both came with a green sauce that seemed like it had a hint of mint and soothed a bit after the spice. The former was only mildly spicy but still left a bit of a kick on the tongue. They were also accompanied by green salads with hidden cucumbers underneath them that helped with any spiciness. This chicken was also amazingly moist and flavourful even without the sauce. The meal here was really a hit and we were all stuffed after a dish per person order. Will be back for sure! read more

We ordered the tandoori chicken tikka for $11.49 and the butter chicken for $16 for 2 people. The tandoori chicken tikka was 5 pieces. The butter chicken was 6 pieces. You can see in the photo the portions of meat are disappointing. I would rank flavour 5/5 value 3/5. I felt it was pricey for what you got. I won't likely order again ala carte menu. A bit disappointed actually. The samosas were pretty burnt! Mistakes do happen sometimes - the oil may have been too hot- but what was more disappointing is that the samosas passed inspection and got packaged and given to me. Or worse, they were not inspected before they left the kitchen. Now this was a really cheap dish (less than $10 for 6 samosas), but disappointing nevertheless. Hopefully this is not happening with other dishes. I am still tempted to try out other dishes, but the temptation has weakened considerably. I try out and review eateries pretty frequently on Yelp but not too often on Google. Taste-wise, the outer crust tasted burnt, and the filing was not as hot as I would have expected. It seemed to me like it was taken out frozen or from the fridge and put into oil that was too hot - the outside got burnt and the inside did not warm up. The filling tasted ok, traditional North Indian samosa taste. If you're thinking of trying out this place I would advise a bit of caution. Folks, I highly recommend this place for people who want to get a taste of real Indian Delhi style food in GTA. The food is so tasty with the right amount of spices and heat. I am writing this review after trying out Take-Out twice and Patio Dine-In once and can vouch that food has been consistently excellent. I have tried their Chola Kabab, Fish Tikka, Keema Naan, Aloo Kulcha, Chole Bhature, Tandoori Chicken & Baigan Bhartha and each and every of these dishes has been one of the best or even the best I have had so far. Milanus is the best Indian in Durham region by far. It's right at Highway 2 & Whites Road just off the highway in Pickering. The owner is super knowledgeable and has clear passion about his craft. As promised in an earlier review I ordered take out last night. Two weeks ago I ordered from SkipTheDishes but found it to be extremely expensive using them. This time it was very affordable ordering directly from the restaurant and picking it up. The food was still very tasty and hot when we got home. The staff are very friendly and helped out in making the dinner choices over the phone. Unfortunately their website doesn't have many pictures and I'm unfamiliar with the different dishes. Overall, this meal was a hit. I ordered medium spicy and it was on the hot side but not overpowering hot. Recommend you try this restaurant and support this small business during Covid19. I've heard a lot about this place and couldn't wait to try it. My family of 4 drove all the way from Vaughan to try the food and it did not disappoint! We ordered Gosht Karahi, butter chicken, chicken Karahi, Rara gosht and 4 naans (2 butter, 1 bullet which is spicy and 1 garlic). Everything was flavorful and clean. It seemed as though he used fresh ingredients and did not use as much oil as restaurants usually do. I was truly satisfied and would definitely be coming back.
