Do not buy a home or build a home with Challenger. The build material is not something you should have to pay top dollar for. One example is the walls have what seems to be zero insulation in the fact that you can hear everything from room to room. It's been nothing but excuse after excuse with this company when it comes to the landscaping that was promised as well. They partnered with Timberline Landscaping to complete the process and it's been blame pointing on each other the entire time as to why the job is not done, meanwhile the landscaping is still not completed. Their Home Warranty Service is garbage, whenever you make a claim, all they do is reject/ refuse/ deny everything to cover for the damage that caused by them without even inspection. We are so appreciative of the prompt response and service from Anthony Sullivan and crew, and how they handled our warranty. Mid-November, we had water under our floorboards in the kitchen. Turns out our dishwasher was faulty. Dishwasher, flooring and cabinets had to be replaced. It was a lengthy process but Anthony was always there when we needed him. He made everything so easy on us. They will not contact you for updates. They will not answer your questions. The onsite associate in COS, Michael, is a licensed realtor but is not knowledgable about the industry. He also does not listen to your needs or situation. They only care about pumping out these homes. The Sales Manager David, and the Senior Sales Director, Austin Roff, also do not care about you or your situation. The house we bought is beautiful and for the neighborhood is nice. We had an issue with a leak when we first moved in and it was corrected immediately. The only complaint I have is that there seems to be near constant "landscaping" going on. It's getting old having the construction trucks in the way and the workers yelling at the crack of dawn (I work nights so it is a problem for my sleep). read more

Warranty work is interesting to say the least. Trying to reach somebody in their warranty department can be almost impossible. Calling and leaving messages for the person you've been working with can result in weeks of waiting for a response. I live in a Challenger home that is 3 years old. A large picture window has failed and there is no information on the manufacturer on the windows. I've asked Challenger for info but have received no response to my requests. In addition, the siding on the house is failing with mushrooms growing out of it. Seem the installer failed to caulk between the windows and the siding on the second floor so mold, mildew and mushrooms are growing. My advice to anyone looking at a Challenger home - back up, turn around and RUN! read more

My windows leak, my grass died off from poor grading, my doorbell doesn't work. Challenger has had months to resolve these issues! They did replace the windows, but failed to caulk them or replace the trim or shutters. These windows also leak! After their worker agreed there was a drainage problem, they have now determined my dogs are responsible for that one corner of my yard dying off, even though the rest of the yard is fine. The grass died from root rot. They also said they had been out twice, yet they havent been out since the first worker agreed! read more

We have been in our Challenger home for 3 years now and have had multiple issues. Bricks falling off the front of the house all the time..... vents that allow snow to pile up in the attic and then melt and it comes through the living room ceiling, 2 leaking windows that were installed improperly and we are just hoping hasn't caused more damage as we try to get this issue resolved, pits and holes showing up all the time in the driveway, electrical problems and the list goes on. We have never had so many issues in a new house ever and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Customer service is non existent. Period. read more

DO NOT BUY FROM CHALLENGER!!!! I WOULD RATE ZERO STARS but didn't have that option! Just purchased our home 1 month ago and my roof is already damaged! I've tried to call warranty, main office, area managers and corp offices and NO ONE ANSWERED THEIR PHONES OR EMAILS to rectify our issues. We currently own other homes which were new builds and NEVER had such a HORRIBLE experience purchasing a home. They lack pride in quality workmanship and work ethic! If they took pride in their work, ensured each home is well built suitable for their own family...you will never have issues with customers! They also gave me a broken microwave and didn't replace it for 3 weeks. During the final walk through...I turned on the microwave...it lit up and turned so I thought it was ok...but when we moved in...it didn't heat up. When it was change by a repairman, he noticed the microwave had a huge dent on the back as if it was dropped! WHO INSTALLS A BROKEN MICROWAVE with a OBVIOUS HUGE DENT? We asked if they cleaned the vents during our walk through...they said yes. My husband opens a floor vent, and it's FILLED with saw dust, paint and debris. They agreed to clean it and it was clean visibly before closing. BUT when we moved in my asthmatic kids were constantly having breathing problems. We discover they didn't clean the debris in the vents...they just wiped inside the visible parts of the vents and shoved the debris down. WHO DOES THAT? Be wary of this company, the sales manager has a major disconnect from espoused company values. We went into contract to purchase 19834 Lindenmere Dr, Monument CO for just over 543k, we had a sales contingency on our home in CA, and when the market stalled in CA, I was concerned that the contracted sales price was too high, and Challenger agreed to give us an appraisal contingency to keep us engaged. We went out and got a full appraisal by a licensed appraiser, and it came in at $532,000, our contracted price was more than $11,000 over appraised value. Challenger did not believe the appraisal, and instead they offered comps that were contracted last year, and were for much larger homes where the owners were able to pick all of the upgrades, and they wanted to ignore the comps the appraiser picked, which were the exact same model located within 1/3 of a mile. They came back and offered to modify the purchase contract down to $540,000, $8,000 over appraised value. Challenger failed to even provide there appraisal which could have possibly justified a value higher than $532,000. We believe that Challenger was taking advantage of us because we were cash buyers and didn't have a loan that was dependent on the appraisal. The espoused value of making life better absolutely was not the case, they in fact made our life worse and much more stressful, and I want to share my Challenger Homes horror story with all who will listen. In the event that somebody reading this is considering purchasing 19834 Lindenmere Dr, be very wary, it appraised for $532,000! If you have to finance this property, you will likely run into loan issue when the appraisal comes in low. Even more surprising, is that another challenger inventory home had to lower the asking price by $20,000 because the home hadn't sold, the appraisal was very consistent with the other price reduction, but the sales manager insisted it was worth more, but didn't even provide an alternative appraisal. The stress of having to find a home because I am unwilling to pay over market value, and not contribute to hyper inflation left me in a difficult situation to having to find another home. We became a dream buyer for another seller, we came in all cash quick close, and long story short, we purchased a nicer home that was only 3 years old for less than $530,000. I can happily say that we aren't living in a challenger home, and hopefully this will persuade others to not purchase a challenger home. Challenger Homes is a company who doesn't stick to espoused corporate values and is the epitome of corporate greed. Buyer Beware! read more

It would be foolish and unrealistic to think that when you build a new home everything is going to be perfect and flawless. These homes are built by human beings. That being said, you would think or expect that the warranty would help rectify some of these flaws that you may find with your new build. Well that is not the case. One thing that you don't expect is the hassle and headache that you go through to get defects, broken and incomplete issues and items resolved by the builder and their warranty people. So, if you enjoy having to fight and hassle to get things fixed and resolved under your "warranty" then go with Challenger Homes. If you are happy paying a pretty penny for a new build just to find that the whole thing was slapped together in a sloppy fashion, then this builder is for you. It has been nothing but disappointment to find myself having to send multiple emails and making multiple phone calls to try and get a laundry list of items addressed and rectified to just turn around and find myself being ignored and pushed to the wayside. So, to begin, I have been in my home for almost a full year now and from the very beginning I began communicating with the warranty department regarding many issues with my new home. Things felt promising when the head of the warranty department, Anthony for Challenger Homes in Bent Grass Meadows, came to my home and took pictures of all of the items that needed to be addressed and ensured me that everything would be fixed. Unfortunately, that's all that happened...pictures taken and false promises being made. And that is that the last time that I heard from Anthony. Again, I am going to stress that it has been almost a year now and the last time that I heard from the warranty department was the day Anthony came and took pictures and made false promises that these items would all be addressed. I have had a hole in my ceiling for almost a year now and have had to come out of pocket just to have someone patch this hole that the Challenger Homes electrician left in my dining room. Interior and exterior paint were done very sloppily and were under the list of MANY items that were supposedly going to be fixed and rectified. I don't want to bore you all with the lengthy list of items but do want to make you aware of the troubles you will go through with this builder. Building a new home should be a very exciting time in my life but unfortunately for me, this has been an absolute nightmare. I could not recommend this company. We signed the contract in October of 2021 with a completion date of late December. We were unable to close at that time as construction was not finished. Challenger then tried to force a closing By end of January, when the inspections were not complete nor was the house painted. upon closing we had a punch list of over 52 items. Some as of today are still not completed. Their warranty program is crazy, we have over 10 items on that list and 2 have been completed. We have been without air conditioning since the start of Spring. We contacted them on June 14th and were told July 8 for the A/C person, on July 8th that person said he could not do the as there was no power to the A/C ,. we have been back and forth with Challenger trying to get the electrician to look at the issue. The inside of the house walls were painted with a flat paint and then touched up with semi gloss, the front railing was hand made nothing is level and the posts are not even painted properly. read more

So our house is 1 year 1 month old today. About 3 months ago we contacted the shady home owners insurance plan and extended it because they never emailed us or called us back and house issues. Even after multiple calls. Finally someone picked up and verbally told us we could use an out of network plumber. No email on it so I'm sure we are just going to pay for it anyway. The first week we were here so to back up I had to snake the downstairs bathroom and out came wood pieces but all seemed fine. Over the past few months we've been having uses in the maintenance room with the drain filling up. The snake wasn't long enough to help. It started over flowing randomly and causing water damage in the maintenance room and to our garage door downstairs and the ceiling in the foyer. Once we got approval for the plumber to come and check the AC and drain he said it 100% was not the AC. He went and got the snake with the camera and showed us that glue/epoxy/paint had literally been dumped into the drains and that's why our pipes weren't draining correctly because of this. It was deep into our walls and they said they would have to cut into the walls and replace all the pipes. I saw it on the camera. I will be dropping it off once it's cut out on the administrative buildings door step. Do not buy these houses. They literally cheap LAZY stupid STUPID stupid work. This is something your stupid ass 10 year old does, not a grown ass man building your house. Absolutely ridiculous. Our neighbors had issues too, but it was from nails / screw being screwed into their water pipes and caused damage to the whole 3rd floor. Cheap houses. Half ass work. I've literally gone behind these fools in a new house and have had to fix things that were done by a blind man with one hand. read more

When I walked into a Challenger Homes model, I was met by the sales manager, Mike. I told him that we had a specific timeframe we had to move in due to the difficult rental situation we were in. Mike was very compassionate toward our situation and he immediately gave us some options on how to get into a home when we needed to. Mike promised that we'd get our new home in June and that's exactly what happened. He told us the truth during the entire building process. Once the construction of the home got underway, the area manager, Doug, was very helpful and he throughly explained the process. He also did a great job of going over the house at each walkthrough. He was also compassionate toward our situation and worked hard on getting the house done when we needed it. I would definitely build with Challenger again! read more

After reading some of the other reviews on Challenger, I see that were not the only family that has major issues with this company. we recently bought a home in September 2014. needless to say we spent a lot of money, and to be honest with the amount of money we just spent I am in shock at the quality of work, craftsmanship, and product that we just bought! Terrible! we have nothing but issue since the build started, with the home, the property and some of the employees, and contractors. I used to help build homes and I know what right looks like, some of these people actually tried to lie to me about some things on the build, then went they knew they couldn't pull the wool over my eyes they went to my wife behind my back and convinced her. Completely un-professional in mind. We had, and still have issues with the drainage on our property. Most of the paint is low grade, and some of the carpet padding wasn't installed correctly or was not the upgraded type. We also had issues with our hardwood floors, not the correct color in some places, same goes for the cabinets. they couldn't even follow simple requests like "please let us know when your putting in the carpet" so we can make sure the floors were cleaned before the install. this is due to our friends stepping on clumps of dry wall mud and nails when theirs was put in. If you decide top build a home with these guys be sure to get everything in writing and have a lawyer look over it, because they have a lot of little hidden comments in the contract and warranty paperwork. I can go on and on with all the things that went wrong with this build, if I could go back in time and change it. It is probably not just this company, be careful with whoever you build with. I would not recommend buying from challenger. They build their homes quick and they lack quality. I am the second owner on a home that was built mid 2014. The driveway and staircase challenger put in are both sinking and cracking and need to be replaced. I called there warranty dept to see if there was anything they can do (seeing as the driveway was obviously not compacted enough before they had it pored) and I was told they would not do anything to help fix it. Our home was completed in August 2013. Within one month several things started to go wrong with the home. We began trying to schedule to have all the warranty issues "looked" at and we were immediately told that he will take as many notes as possible but he doesn't make the decision what could be fixed. Three appointments later for "further evaluation" things began to look up. One thing fixed. The pipes. The paint, the garage and many other things had been on hold till things could be fixed. We're now in November and things aren't fixed and I'm frustrated. The Holidays are just right around the corner and we've heard nothing. Now our kitchen counter has been fan to sink at the corners and the grouting just flakes off. This was due to the brace underneath a corner not properly done. FINALLY contracted pays us a visit and we think we would finally get things taken care of. BIG FAT NO. Instead, the contractor has the nerve to say that he promised his wife HIS house will be done on time so HE HAS EVERY EMPLOYEE under him working his house and done to perfection. All we could say is wow. Here we and what appears to be quite a few of us on my street unhappy and needing repairs and he's making sure HIS house is made well. It is no surprise why all representatives of Challenger homes do not have anything great to say about the company when you ask for their honest opinion. I wouldn't even recommend Challenger homes to the devil himself. I've built 2 other homes and bought 2 older homes. Every home has their challenges but Challenger by far was the worst experience and the worst investment you could make. Don't throw away hard earned money on a Challenger home. read more

One of the worst experiences of my life was buying a home from Challenger Homes. Too many issues to list individually. However I did want to address their sub contractors. They are, for the most part, worthless and vile individuals. They show up to perform work and more than half the time they are not sure why they are even there. The worst part is the language they use. I was told ( after asking one of their subs to slow down on the street due to children playing) to F@$! Off. This was in front of my 3 year old daughter. We have since installed a security system based off their behavior and purchased a shotgun. Shouldn't have to feel this way in your on home, but you got to keep your family safe.
