This school is one of the worst schools I have attended. They lied to my face saying they didn't have a military representative then when I found out they did through another student it was my fault for not asking. The counselor never responded to my voice mails and when he did he was extremely aggressive and blamed me for not knowing anything. To top off everything I was never told about the different prices per credit hr offered to veterans, being charged the full regular student credit hr, $635 for regular and $280 for veterans plus the 2025 tuition increase, when I confronted the school they told "I'm sorry but it's not much of a difference' If you're a veteran go to a school that genuinely supports us because Chamberlain doesn't care about you. I was warned by many people that this school was an endless money pit full of teachers will no idea what was happening outside their little classrooms. But I didn't listen... This is a scam and I will never recommend anyone to attend this clown show of a school whose goal is to "pass the NCLEX" and not make good nurses. If anyone from Chigaco is reading this you need to fix your Houston campus. read more

I'm here to give an update on the school. Yet again the teachers continue to give inadequate information to the students resulting in failures. Students are expected to present in class everyday. So what's the point of paying over 80k for a school to get taught by students/classmates? It's a literal joke. RUN DO NOT GO HERE. I recommended this school to my best friend thinking is was the best but sad to say this school only cares about their ratings and will dismiss anyone risking their ratings. Things happen and everyone has a life and yes school is important but you can't tell me you have never retaken a class. When we went to orientation there was no discussion about their dismissal process nor during the admissions process to at least understand the severity of passing every class. Don't get me started on the Financial aid rumors and horror stories. Go to the school at your own free will with the understanding that you will get dismiss with no warning and you won't win their appeal!!! read more

Do not go to this school, if you can help it. I chose Chamberlain because I missed the admissions deadlines for other schools and wanted to start nursing school as soon as possible. This place is expensive, unorganized, and just plain frustrating. For students, guidelines and expectations change SO frequently. It seems that something changes everyday. The students aren't taken into consideration, and are kept in the dark until the changes are finalized. A lot of the classes can be taken online, and are no longer offered online, probably so Chamberlain can have more revenue. Many good professors have left, and the leadership has changed as well. I cannot wait to graduate and get out of this place. read more

For now, ill just keep the median star rate. NO jinx! I was browsing few reviews and I feel nervous. I just started my application process... Well, hoping that this will not the situation for the 2020. I have noticed the reviews were fr 2016-2019. I just hope that the school has paid attention to this little voices. I understand that the category of this school is "for-profit" but I am really hoping that the way they operate will not according to the definition of "for-profit". I did a little bit of research, but most of the answers I got was negative. Though, I have a friend from the other campus, she told me that it was really good there, she mentioned that they have a good administrator, but I am really far from that location. For me, learning is important. You can finish from a most prestigious school but if you did not learn things the right way, it's not worth. At this point I am gambling, i will give my self a chance to really see what this school could offer me. I hope no more negative reviews.. It is pricey and private, but so far since my application, everything was smooth. I never encountered any rude person in campus and over the phone (since the pandemic has started). I just hope this school will really be concern about the quality of learning primarily while doing business. I understand that this is a "for-profit" school. But come to think, if you deliver a good reputation and standards, news will spread and more students will get attracted and the business will be sustained. People skills are important because their are the people that primarily interact with the applicants. If you put a wrong person in front, then they will drive students/applicants away. UPDATE: Now I really wish I could leave ZERO stars. As you can see below, someone named Kari asked for my contact information to follow up. She says my review does not represent chamberlain and wanted to get more information from me. I provided her with my email and assured her I would happily follow up with her and provide more information. She never messaged or emailed me back. I then sent her another message and asked if she still wants to get in contact with me and surprise... no response. Clearly this type of behavior is a trend at Chamberlain. RUN. If I could leave no stars, I would. I have never felt so worthless and disrespected in my life. My run in with their admission department was enough to make me question why this institution is even in business. I have been in and out of college/university for the last 10 years (since high school graduation). I got married, had some health issues, had children and worked full time. They did not like this. Not only did they not like this, but they were INCREDIBLY rude about it. The gentleman that reviewed my HESI scores with me (I scored above a 90%) was very rude and pushy. He saw that I withdrew from all my classes one semester in 2012 and literally gave me a death look and told me that I better be prepared to write a statement about why I withdrew. I'm an adult and don't need to give the details of my health (the reason I withdrew) to anyone. That is a HIPPA violation. He also told me I would have to explain in detail any F's and gaps in my education and they also required transcripts from every institution attended (even if you didn't receive credit). I know this is pretty standard, but I also know that the majority of school will allow you to sign a document stating that you don't want to include a certain transcript. I'm sorry but it's a vocational school, not Harvard. I left the building with such a bad taste in mouth and tears in my eyes. With my grades and my HESI score I shouldn't have a problem getting into a different program so I'm not concerned, I'm more just amazed at how terrible this man made me feel about myself. I then emailed "my advisor" Leslie, letting her know what happened with the gentleman and how upsetting it was. I even began to describe the life events I don't feel comfortable writing a paper on... I have yet to receive an email response back from her which literally feels like a swift kick to the stomach. If they treat their applicants like this I don't even want to know how they treat their students. RUN. There are plenty of other more credible nursing programs in Houston. Don't let their 3 year BSN fool you. Your better than this institution. read more

Tuition is expensive. I was planning to enroll here to take one class. You have to meet with admissions, clinical coordinator and student advisor/ financial aid. One person would tell you something and you'd have to contact the other. I explained to them what I needed before hand but since I've talked to different people, one person would say that they can accommodate my needs and then finally after two months, they couldn't properly explain to me that I can't enroll. I did everything they asked me to do. Annoying. One set of uniform was 50$ (with shipping)!!! Ridiculous. I did my background check/ drug test and application fee already. AVOID! DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL! I am currently attending this school and will do my best to warn future students away for this campus. I wish I could transfer but nursing schools just don't have smooth transfer options so I guess I'm stuck. The administrators at this school will promise prospective students that they will work with them, that they can afford this school, that they can work while attending, or that they offer flexible schedules for those individuals that have families. These are all lies. Currently they are not allowing students to take certain courses online that were previously offered as such. Forcing the students to take these classes in person has greatly reduced the students' ability to work and has increased costs for gas, vehicle maintenance, tolls, and child care. When this was brought to the president of the campus (along with a petition signed by most of our class) we were told that she was aware and wasn't going to do anything about it. She claims that the reason for this was the low NCLEX scores in the past. Then why are these online courses still offered at Chamberlain campuses across the country? Their students are still passing the NCLEX. She claims that she has an obligation to make sure we are safe nurses for the public and that campus classes accomplish this. Then does that mean these other graduates across the country are not safe? I call bs. They are doing this so that the tuition for these classes goes directly to this campus instead of the outside campus that hosts all the online courses. They think only of themselves and that is the main reason that this particular campus has a 1 star rating, which I'm sure would be a 0 star rating if it were available as an option. If you wish to attend Chamberlain University then go to the Pearland campus. They seem to have better administrators who actually care for their students and listen to their needs. Unfortunately I have to finish at this campus since they are not allowing transfers. I am not a bad student. My GPA is a 3.6 and I have enjoyed my professors and have gotten a lot out of my classes. It is a shame that the administration has ruined the experience for so many students. read more

I joined Chamberlain almost 2 years ago (about to graduate!! YEYYY!!) so I will give my honest opinion on my experience here. At first I was highly disappointed. The school was disorganized and all the great professors would quit. All the students in the class would fail an exam and they would tell us there was nothing they could do. About halfway through my program, they adopted new a testing and teaching system called ATI. Everything became much better from there! This campus has had its growing pains but it has gotten much better. Every school has it's good and bad. Nursing school will not be easy anywhere you go and working may not be possible. I have worked most of the time but did have to take off work for more difficult sessions. Houston has MANY nursing schools so I would suggest keeping your options open to cheaper options if cost is a concern. Chamberlain is very pricey and state schools will cost significantly less. If you are someone who really wants a place with tutors and great campus life then this wouldn't be a great match. The resources are limited here, the campus is small, and the tutors are usually just the senior students. Most people pick Chamberlain because its fast admission but I definitely recommend exploring all options! At the end of the day, if your goal is to be a nurse and Chamberlain is what you choose then be ready to work hard! It won't be easy but it's not a bad school in my opinion. read more

Overpriced to the max!!! They tell you that you will be able to afford this school and not have to work which is a complete lie. Just two courses is a total of $3,390!!! If you are under 24, financial aid is no help, and I didn't qualify for any scholarships, because I was considered half-time, and that was only because there was no way I could afford to pay for a full course load. You have to pay a pre-payment before you are accepted. One advisor told me $600 and then I came back a year later and it was $285, but the price of tuition went up. They give you a large account for books and supplies, but none of the extra funds are applied to your bill, and it any money used is applied to your overall tuition total. Really broke my heart coming here, I was excited to start school, but it is honestly no worth getting into debt for this school. read more

I wonder where all the bad reviews are coming from. I graduated from this school and I will forever be thankful for the great and priceless education I got here. I have attended another nursing school before I transferred to this school and Chamberlain Houston is by far the best. If you are ready to do the work, you will succeed. They have open labs to practice endlessly and get help. They have great instructors that truly care and know their stuffs. They have great plan and resources to prepare you for the ultimate NCLEX. They reach out after graduation to help with jobs and NCLEX if you delayed taking it. Some go to this school for the wrong reasons, I've heard students say because they are paying so much, it should be easy. You can't substitute nursing school hard work for money. You will be treating real lives and not mannequins later. The goal is to be able to keep the license after graduation. So if you are looking for an easy nursing school because you can pay, don't go to Chamberlain. You will end up writing a bad review and ruining it for prospective nursing students planning to go here. It is undeniably expensive and I wish they had given out more scholarships to help students. To get a quality education, this is a place for you. With the education I got here, I passed NCLEX with the minimum score (even though I delayed taking it for about 1 yr after graduation due to personal reasons). I am a current NCLEX tutor, helping others prepare for the exam. I am doing this on my own as my second job while working as nurse in a Trauma 1 level Hospital. If I can, you can. WORST ADMISSIONS CONSULTATION EVER! As soon as I entered the building, I felt the snobbery oozing from the walls. Not a warm welcome at all. I originally had an appointment with Andre Conner. But somehow he got 'double booked', so I ended up speaking with Leslie Washington. Immediately I felt it was all about the money. I did not go in, dressed up, I went in a pair of jeans and a tee shirt. My questions were pretty basic, like, what credits will transfer, what would my schedule be like, do you have a VA rep? Don't expect any answers untill you register and pass HESI exam.. (cost $95). And, of course they want you to purchase a study guide through them. If you pass, then they want a background and drug screen... no big deal... untill the cost $200!!! And IF all that goes through, then you can ask your questions. For every question that I asked, the answer was... "Again, you will need to register and pass the HESI exam, background and drug screen." But, of course she was able to tell me the cost of 1 credit which is $699 and most classes are 3 and 4 credits. Oh yeah, and the Student Service Charge which is $160 per semester. You also have to get immunizations at the discount price of $1,400. If you dont have insurance, you have to purchase it at the cost of $3,081. But it's only $3,073 to renew. It was a waste of gas, time and energy. Oh, and don't expect any of your credits to transfer. I wish I could give negative stars. read more

I was supposed to start this January 2017 session, since they were not accepting applications anymore for May 2017 start due to low passing rate (78%) in Nclex-RN and they were up for a review from Tx BON. A student advisor (Baccam is her last name) who talk to me, said that after I fill out a Promisorry note (Federal loan) and do my pre-payment of $875, fafsa, background check ($150), and even got my school ID badge, all done on the same day (Dec. 27 2016), she will be able to register me for classes. I emailed her several goddamn times, tried contacting her, she was so hard to reach, even though she told me she's gonna be one call away if I have further questions. Then today (01/03/17) I went to the campus, to find out what was going on with my registration status, and all of the advisers (one of em is Jennifer Pena) are telling me that I have atleast THURSDAY (01/05/17) to get my Highschool credits get evaluated by this Slow-ass Spantran Service or else I need to apply again in one of their campus at Pearland!! No one, NOBODY told me that I have to get that done even before when I was inquiring, which is 2 weeks ago! I finished highschool in the philippines, and I dont have the original copy of my grades report card anymore! It is really frustrating. I ended up spending $300 to this business called crediteval.com to have my last xerox copy of diploma and a piece of my 12th grade credits only to have a "Proof of Graduation" that Chamberlain needed. I mean, why would they ask for my proof of graduation in highschool when Lonestar College ( school where I took my pre-nursing courses) already admitted me in the first place. I also have a few course credits from the Philippines. I was already in a nursing program before I even got here in United States, and used Spantran to evaluate those credits.
