The lack of compassion and care demonstrated by the owner and employee present at the funeral went beyond what could be considered an oversight, accident, or miscommunication. They struck me as shockingly insensitive to the suffering of the family and the sensitivity of the situation. I personally observed very reasonable and minimal requests on the part of the family be met by the people working at the funeral home with a shocking mixture of rudeness and lack of cooperation. For example, at one point a family member pointed out to one of the employees that the toilet paper in the bathroom was running low. This family member asked where she might get more toilet paper to put in the bathroom herself. The employee replied by refusing to say where the family member could get more toilet paper, instead saying she wouldn't put more toilet paper in the bathroom until the previous roll ran out. When the same request was made of the owner, he reiterated the line about only replacing the roll after the previous one had run out. This may seem like a small issue on its own, but this lack of basic cooperation, consideration, and care was unfortunately continued by both the owner and the employee throughout the day, and it extended to more serious issues. After the funeral, a Google search revealed the article linked below detailing Chambers' license having been suspended in 2010 "after a state inspector discovered what appeared to be 40 bodies intended for cremation haphazardly piled in body bags stacked in its garage." http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2010-05-04/news/bs-md-bodies-crematory-20100504_1_body-bags-morticians-and-funeral-directors-business-license My family owns a small business, so I would not write or post a negative review of a small business lightly. But the immediate aftermath of the death of a loved one is such a sad, confusing, and vulnerable time for a family, and I was shocked at the lack of sensitivity and basic kindness demonstrated by the funeral home employees during this difficult time. I hope this review will help other families avoid the unpleasantness I witnessed at Chambers. I would caution anyone against choosing this funeral home for their family. Ryan Bing Philadelphia, PA

She bought and paid for it with her hard earned money in 1981. I returned to the cemetery in November 2025, after finally having the funds to start the process of having my grandmother's crypt inscribed. The service from staff member André Livingston was not only professional, but welcoming, understanding, caring, and compassionate. Taking into consideration my financial status, Mr. Livingston worked out a monthly pay plan to ease the financial burden of not being able to pay all at once (Thank You Again Mr. Livingston!). Afterwards, my son and I toured the peaceful cemetery grounds which are rich in history. The beautiful statues and biblical and historical references to the Battle of Bladensburg during the War of 1812 throughout the cemetery are something to behold, especially my favorite being the relief of the head of Jesus Christ that follows you as you pass back and forth in front of it. As can be expected, I was extremely upset from my mom's sudden passing...didn't really know what to ask for. This was my first time having to make such difficult arrangements. The woman that answered my call that night spoke to me very manifactly and never offered her condolences. I actually spoke to her twice. During the second call, I lost it!! While telling me the steps, costs and how everything will go she said, and I quote "When your mother gets here, we'll put her in the freezer"...I busted out crying and yelled "You're talking about my mother like she's a piece of meat". At which point I feel she realized she did something terribly wrong! She apologized and rephrased by saying "Once your mother comes into our care". I couldn't believe my ears. I felt like I had been stabbed by a knife in my chest. The next day my siblings and I went to say our final goodbyes to our mother. I spoke to the director, Bill about the phone call with his staff member. Once I was done, he also spoke very matter-of-factly, he did not apologize for that person's interaction, behavior, words. He said to me "Okay, we'll look into it". He also did not offer any condolences to us. I pray no other family has such a bad experience there. I certainly will not use their services again and obviously don't recommend them.

The only detail that was disappointing was having a female staff member standing under the canopy at the cemetery. Only six people could sit, due to safe distancing. She should have moved so I could have stood under the canopy. She saw that I was recording the service. I didn't ask her to move since I didn't want that heard on the video or to cause a distraction. The man who met us at the funeral home also drove the hearse and instructed how to follow him. He was kind and gave us privacy before we left the building. The funeral home covers tickets if you drive through a red light en route to the cemetery (it only works that day). The casket was beautiful. They even gave my friend a manicure. When you are grieving, those special touches matter. The flowers were carefully handled. Due to covid, most people only attended the grave side service.

We spoke with everyone from the numerous receptionists to Funeral Directors to the listed Office Manager. Each of these representatives assured us they would check on the challenge and get back to us. At one point, a minister called to confirm what we wanted at my sister's service that was scheduled for the upcoming Friday. To our surprise, the funeral home got our sister's remains mixed up with another deceased person. My sister was not having a service and was being cremated. The minister was very apologetic. At no point did any of the representatives (6 people) call us back after stating that they would. All communications were initiated by us. We needed communication with the funeral home even if it was to say they are still looking into our concerns. Not one of these people returned our calls.
