USE SOMEONE ELSE -so you don't have to add watching the funeral home to the list of things to do…read moreduring a tragic time. We used McQuire Funeral Home for my mothers cremation. We had a memorial service elsewhere, so this was to be the only service provided. They offered a 3rd party for the programs and to place the obituary ad in the Washington Post. When we got the funeral program I immediately noticed McQuire had added their logo to the program w/out asking. It just showed up in the 1st round shared w/ us by the printer. I thought that was tacky but was able to have that removed. I should have taken this as a sign. We sent them the final copy of the obituary and the almost $700 for the fee to the Washington Post. However, this time we were not able to see/approve the obit before it was printed. I can't put into words the disgust I felt when I saw the funeral home had added "Funeral services at McQuire" to the final obituary. Besides the fact that we weren't asked if this was ok, it wasn't true. It would have been misleading for anyone looking for information about the memorial. This is greedy and shameful. They offered my father $16 as compensation for the pain their greed caused during the darkest time of our lives and for something that can't be fixed. To further confirm the integrity of this place, I'd like to add that we considered using them for limo services but their fee of $675 for a 9 seat car was over $200 more then the other estimates received. The last thing you want to be worried about when you lose a love one is being taken advantage of the funeral home. Try whichever other one that pops up in this screen instead. Your chances of not adding pain on top of pain will be better.

Both experiences were extremly pleasant and helpful, Ms. Robinson made a difficult time easier. She extended Grief Counceling, her calm gentle and professional presence easied my families grief. That is no ceremony, no viewing, just let Tri-state pick up the remains from the hospital and return them to me in a suitable container. I am sure Tri-state offers more elaborate funerals. But, direct cremation was my preference. And frankly I cannot think of anything they could have done better given that. Dignified, courteous, caring, efficient, and affordable. They deserve their stellar reputation! The arrangements for my spouse's remains were easily taken care of, the funeral director was appropriately respectful and efficient, and the charges were extremely low, lower than a competing service that has a reputation for low costs. He took care of ordering the death certificates and publishing the obituary, never complaining about my numerous revisions to the text. In the end, he called me to report they had overcharged me about $2.00 on each death certificate and asked how I'd like the money refunded. Talk about scrupulously honest! Theresa Dunn and her daughter, Brianna, are two of the most gracious and compassionate people I have ever met. I first met Theresa in 2014 when my family entrusted Dunn & Son Funeral Home with my mother's services, and then again the following year for my grandmother. Most recently, I had to bury my daughter, and once again, everyone showed my family so much kindness, care, and compassion during one of the hardest moments of our lives. The staff was amazing not only to me, but also to my granddaughters, who could not stop talking about how wonderful Brianna was to them. It brings tears to my eyes to say that I trusted no one else with my precious daughter's remains except Theresa and Brianna Dunn. They treated her with dignity, love, and respect, and made her look absolutely beautiful. I am forever grateful for the comfort and care they provided to my family. Marche is very professional and was extremely patient with my mother and I who both were emotional going through this funeral planning experience for the first time. It definitely feels weird actually writing a Yelp review for a Funeral Home but if my recommendations are used for valuable opinion of my taste in food, amenities, and more happy services... please take my advice for a funeral home. In the event that you ever need one I wouldn't look any further than Morris Funerals and Cremation Services. Everything was reasonably priced and lower than other funeral homes in Maryland that quite frankly to me seemed to be "milking" patrons due the surge in deaths from this killer Coronavirus. They went above and beyond considering the circumstances all while following state mandates and social distancing. Hopefully I personally won't have to visit them anytime soon but I know where to direct someone when they do.

tl;dr: beautiful facilities but horrible, dare i say disrespectful, service…read more i will say everything preneed was fantastic. the two cathy's (at the funeral home and the cemetery) were amazing and helpful. they were very understanding and cooperative. the only negative i have to say (not about them) was that the process took a long time. i was there for about 5-6 hours going over funeral and cemetery plans. here's where things went downhill - the day of the viewing service and the day of the graveside service. this was for my father, by the way. we had ordered two guest books for the day of the viewing service. when guests starting arriving they were nowhere to be found. ben had left us with what i can only assume was an intern to take care of us. when asked where the guest books were. she did not know and it took her a while to find them. also, turns out the casket spray was different than what we had selected. ben's response was they had misread the spray selection. even though it was typed up on the contract? he said they would not be able to compensate us for their mistake but would try to get the correct spray for the burial service the next day, which, to their credit, they did provide the next day. we just had the wrong casket spray for the viewing service. the last HUGE mistake they made during the viewing service was technological. they were playing the slideshow of my dad but kept it playing during the WHOLE SERVICE. that means that pictures of my dad were playing while we were singing hymns and while the pastor was giving a sermon. super distracting. so i go to the back of the room to see if they could turn the slideshow off and turn it back on after the service ended. there was no one back there! i clicked pause on the slideshow to stop it and went outside to find the intern to help turn the tv's off. i eventually found her and she had no idea how to work the computer. she ended up closing the slideshow which made the desktop picture show up on the screens. if the desktop picture was the fairfax memorial funeral home logo or a landscape photo, that would've been fine. but the desktop picture was a cute little baby hedgehog in a bed of flowers/grass. so the pastor is giving the message and for, i kid you not, 5 minutes, this desktop photo is on the screens behind him. now i understand some funeral services would welcome moments of levity like this but this was a very serious service. his death was sudden and unexpected and this just felt disrespectful. fast forward to the next day. we are waiting in the processional behind the hearse to go to the gravesite for the burial service. we had told everyone to arrive at 10:00am for the service. the hearse starts leaving at 9:50am to which my brother-in-law asks them if they could wait for 15 minutes because people were still showing up. at 10am the hearse driver gets out of his car and comes up to me (the driver of the first car of the processional). he says, it's 10:00 we have to go. i ask him if we can wait just 5 more minutes because people are still showing up. we didn't want them to get lost because the cemetery is very big (and beautiful). he huffs and gives me an attitude when he says, "i guess we'll wait then." like i'm inconveniencing him by waiting 5 more minutes. i was shocked how rude he was. so like i said, the facilities are beautiful but the day of the viewing service and burial service, the customer service was absolutely horrible. if their goal was to get my mind off of the death of my father by how bad their service was then they partially succeeded. again, we received no apology or compensation for any of the issues we faced on the service days.
