I went in with a young friend who was seeing her first haunted house, and she was nervous. The guide found out it was her first one and offered her a free broom-shaped pen to commemorate the experience. I was very impressed with the character he was playing as the guide, a great mix of trustworthy and spooky. We made it about halfway through before the sudden loud noises were too much for her, and the guide didn't miss a beat when I asked him for help leaving. He found a good spot to ask the rest of our group to wait and then used the big prop lantern to guide us back. He immediately dropped the spooky character and went back to being kind and encouraging. I wish I could have seen the rest of the haunt because I was enjoying the effects! But I had to give major props to them for making sure we were safe and happy customers. read more

I rarely buy into negative reviews, much less write one, but that's how bad this is. We paid for VIP tickets thinking it would be busy less than 3 weeks to Halloween and with it being a weekend. Not only was that a waste of money, the whole thing was. Do not waste your time and money on this unless you're looking for a cringe production that you might find at a second rate amusement park. Let's put it this way... the haunted mansion ride at Disney is scarier and more intriguing. If this is the best in town, I don't know how anyone else even stays in business. This was a joke of a haunted house. Not scary just dark with hokey sounds an lazy actors.

This is an old school haunted house and has been there for 30 yrs. However, it keeps up with the more modern haunted houses in the area. We were there off season and I give kudos to the one man running it. He ran around trying to give us the full experience. I went to other haunted attractions and the area, and this is the only one that actually got me with a jump scare. We will definitely be returning again on our next trip to Salem. read more

Best Haunted House in Salem and best 15$ ive spent! Ive come to Salem 3 times for the halloween season and i always try to go to every attraction i can, this was my first time coming to the chamber of terrors but definitely not the last. Amazing experience, went with my boyfriend who is a fan of spooky things and he said it was one of the best haunted hauses hes ever been to too. So this is the haunted house that's on the waterfront, right when you enter the shopping area. It might not look like a haunted house from the outside, but as all the signs for it say, it is!! I'm not really into haunted houses, but I was goaded into going into this one, and yes, it was scary! Even the two people I was with who do like haunted houses and usually find them "not scary" were scared. Yes, it's short, but to be honest, I wouldn't have wanted it to last longer haha. They did a great job, and I think the price is very fair. For some reason, when we went there was NO line. This was around 3pm this past Sunday, but it was a beautiful weekend day in October, so I was surprised. My friends also did Witch Mansion inside the mall, and I think they felt this one was scarier. I did the Lost Museum with them all because I thought it wouldn't be scary, but it was argh. This one was much shorter, but I do think the scares are more intense. read more

Don't do this tour in broad daylight in Salem... Go when it's after dark... ;) I've been to a few haunted houses in my lifetime, and this one's not bad. I went a few years ago with hubs and a friend, and then this year I returned to Salem and decided to go again. I got a good scare and enjoyed it :) I think it could be like 10 min longer so we could get more scares in spooky Salem, but it's all good. Price wasn't bad, and the location can't be beat either. We bought 7 "VIP" passes last night, paying extra so that we didn't have to wait in line and when we showed up the woman refused to let us in. We were simply trying to celebrate a friends birthday, and she was so incredibly rude it pretty much ruined our night. Even though we paid extra to not wait in line, she let in everyone else who was in the "regular line" and proceeded to bitch at us about no refunds. Not only did we feel humiliated, as a group of 3 gay couples we felt profiled. We have been trying to contact this establishment since the incident and we cannot get through to anyone, would appreciate a refund at a minimum. An apology wouldn't hurt either. Regardless, we will never support this business again and you should think twice before you do. read more

We did the Haunted House in the daytime and then the Fireside Ghost Stories at 11pm. This was the most incredible experience on all fronts. The Haunted House was my personal first haunted house experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was scary and interactive and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a very well done haunted house. As for the Fireside Ghost Stories, we did not know what to expect, but our expectations were blown out of the water. We were told 3 old stories that had us both on the edge of our seats. We were given snacks from Colonial era times, some even shipped from England, and were given sherry to sip on during our experience. Given it was a Monday evening, we were the only 2 at the show. In our opinion, that actually worked in our favor because we got a sincere personalized experience that we will remember forever. All in all, I wish I could give these experiences more than 5 stars. Super fast walkthrough, nothing scary at all besides one blackout hallway. There was 1 person who popped out thats it. The line is long, i would suggest getting vip tickets. We stood in line for an hour and walked through in 3 minutes. The staff is great especially front desk person. They also take the masks seriously, they kicked out one person who was in a party behind us. Told him once, said wont say it again, and that's exactly what happened when the person removed his mask again. read more

This was my first time in a haunted house and it was pretty anti-climactic. 1) it was probably like 5 minutes max -- seriously you are in and out in seconds! Now I know why the Living Social was so cheap 2) there was some weird dude with no shirt on in the dark which was creepy especially when you're waking through a dark area and are supposed to feel your way around 3) they oversell it. For the money, easily the best attraction in Salem. Exciting and engaging staff within the haunt itself, and some really cool character actors inside and out! They use the tag line - "Salem's only TRULY scary haunted house" - and that seemed to be the case when we visited some of the other ones. (Also, some of the others in town don't seem to want to take debit cards, which I think is odd. But these guys do!) 5 out of 6 stars. read more

This is a solid haunted house. The makeup and costumes are great. The set design is great and the actors own their roles. This is no doubt the best haunted house in Salem. The problem is that this 5-minute experience is nowhere near being worth 12 bucks. That's just a ridiculous price to pay when there are so many good haunts in New England. I really can't recommend to this anyone knowing the price. If you're trapped in Salem and you just have to go to a haunted house, this IS the one to go as others aren't close to matching its quality. read more

This has to be one of the best haunted houses I've been in. Brief but totally worth it!

The staff were amazing and the haunted house was fun. It was probably a 5 minute walk through but you can tell the actors are trying and love their job, this was our first stop in Salem and we enjoyed it. However, we ordered tickets online a month a head of time that included a t-shirt and bumper sticker. My only complaint is with the ticket price being much higher because of the t-shirt, I was sad my only choices were Xl, 2X, or 3X. I'm a petite person so it would have been nice to pay for a shirt that fit me. There are a ton of places that sell shirts for relatively cheap and in the correct size. Had I known that sizes would be so limited, I wouldn't have done the combo ticket. My suggestion to the company is to allow customers to pick out their size when ordering online, at least when it's done in such an advanced amount of time. Or, provide a disclaimer that all sizes might not be available. People from out of town may not know how large or small your business is and what can be reasonably provided. read more

We purchased the combination pass to do both the Chambers of Terror and Count Orloks Nightmare gallery. This was actually our first haunted house so we're pretty new to this genre. We thought this was an appropriately scary haunted house for people who aren't that familiar with haunted houses. The production value was generally pretty good and I generally enjoyed the interaction that the actors had with us inside the haunted house. We liked it better than Count Orlok's Nightmare Gallery (the Haunted House version, not the museum). The advertised length of this is 7 minutes, which seemed about accurate (although we didn't measure it exactly). They definitely used some psychological tricks on us that we felt were pretty good and well done. TIP: When we went out there were people hanging out at the back exit (on the other side of the building) to gauge our relations (and probably take pleasure in seeing us scared). Went here over the weekend during an impromptu trip to Salem. We weren't really expecting much, but the kids in the group practically dragged us in the door so we gave it a shot. As it turned out, I think the adults had a more entertaining time than the kids! The "ghoul" character that served as our sort-of tour guide was very creepy and believable, and caught us off guard many times. As other people said, it's not a very long walkthrough, but given how dark it is and how scared the kids were especially, I'd say it was about the right amount of time. We had coupons that gave us two dollars off, so the price was about the same as other things in town. Far better than the other "3D haunted house", which was terrible. read more

Do NOT go here. The people seemed very nice and we were excited to try it ! I asked the man who appeared to be the owner how long the tour was. He said it was between 7-10 minutes, which we thought was fine for 15 dollars. The actual tour could not have been longer than 3 minutes MAX. We were convinced that we had missed a turn or made a wrong turn that cut off some of the tour- but apparently not. It's ridiculous how they feel they can charge visitors how ever much they want to for this ridiculously short experience. read more

This was not worth the price. It lasted 5 minutes, was so dark you were walking into walls, accidentally touching the actors and basically couldn't even be scared because you were too busy trying not to get hurt. We got to what apparently was the end but there was a black curtain to the left and an exit that looked like an emergency exit around a corner to the right. Our group was trying to figure out if we make a wrong turn when an actor jumped out with a chainsaw and then YELLED at us for not understanding that exit was THE exit. He was incredibly rude. They pack plenty of atmosphere and scares into about seven or eight minutes of haunted house. Once inside, you can't help but be on edge. It feels like anything could jump out at you from anywhere. They play with this sense of dread and anticipation masterfully and don't skimp on the scares. I would recommend this for ages 10 and up. read more
