I have used Chamblee Fence Company 2 times in past and for those 2 times I would have given them a 4 to 5 stars. I recently called them to repair a portion of a fence they installed that was damaged by a tree falling. The fence material they said they did not carry anymore but they said Home Depot did. Person didn't show the first time and push us out 2 weeks, when they did come the job was shoddy, with warped boards, came out 3 time to fix problems random ppl again. I cannot recommend this company. They cut my exterior light lines during installation. When I called to discuss I was directed to their Dispatcher. I have left several voicemails with the Dispatcher explaining my problem, but he has not returned my call. Apparently The Dispatcher is too busy to respond to his customers. He apparently does have time to read the reviews on this site. He asked for my original posting to be taken down because I used his name in the post and violated privacy laws. Amazing! First let me say that as a mother of three young children, I don't have the time to sit down at my computer and give a "yelp" review, good or bad, so taking time to write this really says something. I have had the most horrific experience with Chamblee Fence company in Atlanta, GA. First, the gentlemen they send out to build my fence began building a completely different fence than I had discussed with my sales associate, plus they built it 6 feet tall. Now if we were talking about a privacy fence that would be one thing, but this was a front yard wooden fence (should be 4 feet). After complaining, the corrected the mistake, but only after telling me that a 6 foot fence in the front yard is standard, which I know is inaccurate after measuring many of my neighbors fences. Never once was I offered as much as even an apology. The fence ended up looking decent, but all of the stamped (green) lumber company logos are facing out and visible - no getting rid of those. Pretty lazy job if you ask me. Finally, I have had a bit of trouble with the hinges loosening and boards flaking away wood on the gates (after about 5 months). I called to talk to someone about it and was told they would call me back. I called back a week later and was told the same thing. Finally after a third and more "assertive" message, I did receive a call back and a gentleman (Roy) came to see what the problem was. He told me he would send someone out to fix the problems. It has now been three weeks so I called today to check on the status. I was told that Roy had sent the work order to operations so it was out of his hands now. He also told me that they had some big jobs on the books so they had not had time to get to my project. I politely, but assertively, told him that as the customer, I was obviously unaware of any other jobs he had. All I knew was that mine was not getting done and no one was following up with me. He says that someone will give me a call soon but I am obviously not holding my breath. I am really not a bad customer, I think showing patience for the past 6 weeks has been long enough. Now I am just plain mad about it. With this level of customer service, I would honestly suggest ANY other fence company over Chamblee Fence. read more

That recent five star review MUST be a friend of the owner. I used this co. b/c we had them install a fence in 2001 and they did a great job. Now, I had them install a fence and a security gate, and like the other poor reviews, it took 5 phone calls to have one returned, and the guy that eventually stepped up and swore they wanted to win back my business (after I told them I was moving on) still ended up being non-responsive, claiming (after another 5 attempts to reach him) that he THOUGHT he had returned my call. And now that my security gate is broken, he is apparently no longer there. I have called again and they told me someone would call me back, but I am less than optimistic. First, let me say that if you look at other reviews you will see similar stories....this is mine. This company lost the sales person that quoted my job but didn't follow up with his clients to let them know. When my installation date came I hadn't heard from them so I contacted them to see if they were coming. I was informed that my sales person left and his clients fell through the cracks a bit. Things happen, I understood and we rescheduled and they came a bit later than was set. They had no plans for my job, as he didn't leave them behind, so we had to figure it out in the field a little but it got done. 3 months later I needed one panel removed to do a repair on the back of my house and called them to arrange for someone to come out, fully knowing I would have to pay to have that done. They didn't have the salesperson call me for several days and when I called back on my own to see where we were with things, they informed me that their minimum charge was...are you ready for this....$1250 to come out for anything! That was their minimum??? That's about half of what my entire job had cost!! They said they might be able to discount it a bit for a "previous" customer, but it would be better if I got a handyman to do the job. After telling them that was ridiculous, they said "that's what it costs for us to send a crew out". Now folks, we all know it does not cost $1250 to send a crew of 2 guys (that's what it took to put it up) out for about 45 min. Of work. It's removing a few screws to take down two panels. The fact most likely was that they didn't want to mess with it and their $1250 is intended to discourage short visits that bring in little profit and take up their time. So if you want a company with great post-install customer service that will try its best to accommodate their "previous" customers FAIRLY, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Had an an appointment with a young man who came to my home in Marietta to prepare an estimate. I have a large fence area to do so asked for an estimate for each half and then the whole. It did not take much time at all as it was primarily how many feet times a number he had on hand. Later that day I had two other estimates from different companies. Through my meeting with them I learned of other styles and was recommended to put a cap on my pickets which would make them stay in place in future better and it would look better. Then, a few days later I called young man back to ask for an estimate for whole job with caps. He said that his company was not going to do business with me. He is young and did not want to what he would consider over and above. I explained that my job was going to be in range of $9,000 and that for this price I wanted to do it right. I mentioned although I am in my 50s I never had a fence installed and recently through another estimate discovered cap that would better keep pickets in place better and would like final estimate on if caps were added. I mentioned he could run his calculator and if the price was within a reasonable range of his other estimate, only then, would he need to send a paper estimate. He said his company cannot serve me. I responded, based on the hurtful comment, that based on what he said it is a for sure his company cannot serve me. I immediately moved on to other companies that would not dare to say such a thing! read more

My husband and I decided to have a backyard fence installed and met with 3 different companies, one of which was Chamblee Fence Company. We had used them for a previous fence installation back in 2011 and ultimately chose them this go around as well since we'd had such a positive experience the first time and their quote this time was competitive. When I placed my initial deposit, I was told I would be contacted within 3 business days by their scheduler but I eventually had to call them on day 5. At that time I was told the soonest they could be out was in 4 weeks which was not the time frame I was initially quoted (2-3 weeks) but in the interest of trying to be accommodating I accepted the appointment. My husband called back shortly after explaining that time frame was not what we were quoted and they were magically able to move our installation up by 9 days. Fast forward to the day before the installation and I had not heard from anyone confirming the appointment. Again, I had to reach out to their office to confirm we were still on schedule. The morning of our installation I received a phone call 30 minutes before the crew was supposed to arrive stating they had not finished their job from the day before and would not make it out that day. I explained that I had confirmed our appointment just the evening before, that I had already made arrangements to take my 3 small children away from the house that day and also that my husband took a 5 AM flight from Chicago back to Atlanta so he could be available for the install and my frustration was met with rudeness. When I asked why I was not notified the evening before that the crew had not finished the employee refused to answer me staying that "sometimes these things happen". I then asked for his job title and the name of his supervisor and was told verbatim "I do not have a job title" and "Ma'am, we are not going down that road. If you want that information you can call the office." At that point, I called the salesperson who initially came out to our home to quote the job and explained to him what was happening. He then provided completely different story stating that one of their trucks wouldn't start and so they were unable to pick up the supplies needed for our fence. He assured us they would try their best to get a crew to us that day and at approximately 1 PM, 1 worker showed up. He worked that evening until after 8 PM and promised to be back the next day, hopefully with additional men. The next morning the same worker showed up alone and spent 12 hours finishing the install. I will say that the worker who installed our fence was very nice and did excellent work. Our fence is beautiful and is exactly what I wanted which is really the only saving grace in this mess. Fast forward to the day after the installation was done - I had an invoice in my email from the fence company asking to be paid for the remainder of the job. That was on a Thursday afternoon. My husband and I wanted to take one more walk of the property to be sure there wasn't anything we wanted fixed before we paid them and intended to do so over the weekend. The following Monday morning I hopped online to pay them only to find they had already charged my credit card without so much as a single follow up phone call to make sure we were satisfied. They also did not have my permission to charge the card. To be fair, I went back and reread the invoice and it did state they would be charging my card the following day but I am shocked they would do so without a single follow up phone call or email to make sure we were satisfied with the fence. I can say with 100% certainly we will never use Chamblee Fence Company again and I wish we would have paid closer attention on the front end because there are many, many reviews just like ours. Ultimately, we are thrilled with the fence itself but their customer service is absolutely horrible. read more

My experience with Chamblee Fence was disappointing, to say the least. When the fence was built concrete for a fence post was poured through an underground drainage pipe in my yard. This resulted in flooding which caused over $6,000 worth of damage to the interior and exterior of my home. When I notified Chamblee Fence of the discovery, they reminded me that I had signed a contract releasing them of any responsibility to damage done to underground structures. While I respect the contract, I didn't appreciate the disregard and lack of acceptance of any responsibility or concern for the mess their mistake had caused. I certainly hope that in the future more careful attention will be paid when they are installing fences, so that someone else doesn't end up paying for the same costly mistake. read more

Paid 50% up front, 3-week wait for install. After the fence was installed it was decent at best. Scrap metal left along the ground, uneven posts, brackets crocked, dirt/gravel moved for install was not back-filled just left ditches/piles of dirt and spacing was terrible. No call, email or text asking how it looked, if i was satisfied, quality, etc. Nothing! All they did after the job was "completed" was charge the remaining 50% to my card WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION or even contacting me. Pay an extra 10% and use a company that stands behind their work. I had 2 sections of a wood fence pull away from the post at the top of each section, 2 nails per section (4 nails total). The fence was under a one year warranty when I purchased it, the fence was installed 12/3/15. I called Chamblee Fence Co. on 10/31/16 and asked about my warranty and I was assured it was guaranteed for one year, I explained the problem with the fence to the receptionist. I was told they would have to call me back the next day. She called back and said that this was common for a wood fence and the warranty was void, but for $850.00 they would be happy to repair the fence. I told them that I would have a contractor repair the fence before I would give them $850.00. I will give them one star because this web site won't let me give them a zero. We contracted this company to install a 5 foot high farm style fence. The guys that did the install had a difficult time understanding us and were very messy. Some of the boards were cut uneven so there are many edges that are not even close to being straight. The gates were slapped together so poorly that the boards just fell off. When the man came out the one time to fix the issues, they claimed someone stole the screws. When I pointed out there were no holes for the screws they claimed were missing, I was told perhaps they stole the holes too. The metal closures disinterested and the wood they were attached to simply fell off since it wasn't actually attached to anything. It was just wedged between two other boards. When I called to get someone to return to fix, I was handed off from one person to the next but no one actually did anything. This all happened within the first 3-9 months after install. I've been told for the last 6 months that I'm being put on the schedule to have someone come out and fix. It's been a year and a half since instal and we are looking to have to replace most of what we paid them $5k to install. Do not hire this company. read more

I was referred to Chamblee Fence by someone who performed quality work on her house; therefore, I didnt bother to shop its competitors - bad mistake. Chamblee Fence installed my fence without applying for a permit with the city, which caused me to receive two expensive citations - no permit, and illegal fencing. When I asked Chamblee Fence to correct the problems before my appointed court date, the company charged me $600! As a fencing professional, Chamblee Fence should know the rules/regulations of the cities that they offer services in. The company did not try to work with me. During the first installation, each fence posts were juxtaposed tightly, and there were no gaps to see through the neighbor's yard. When they corrected the "illegal issue," they left gaps between each posts, and now we're able to see the neighbors. The whole experience with Chamblee Fence was upsetting and disappointing. read more

Literally my first Yelp review, but our experience with Chamblee fence was disappointing enough to justify it. Great sales experience, super knowledgeable and friendly, and frankly a reasonable quote based on research. Were told that the install crews were 3-4 weeks out. Starting at the 3 week mark we began calling and emailing with no response. Eventually after 5+ un-returned calls and 3 un-returned emails to their scheduler, we were contacted and told that it would be another 8 days. After threatening to cancel the order, they sent a crew out in just two days. The crew arrive un-prepared, unaware of our detailed conversation and quote / sales experience, and without having the utilities marked. (a requirement in the City of Atlanta) The crew was extremely rude to my wife, uncooperative, and quickly gave up and left for another job. Their salesperson got involved again and committed to get the crew back out that day, which didn't happen, again with no responsiveness. The next day they were also unresponsive, and the salesperson finally committed to investigate and call back within 15 minutes. Four hours later he let us know that it would be the following week before a crew could be arranged. We've canceled the order and are awaiting a refund of our $4,000+ deposit. Their work quality may be excellent, but their professionalism and willingness to simply community honestly about delays, etc, is very disappointing.
