I needed to replace the gate on my 30-year-old, wood privacy fence. I wasn't ready to replace the entire fence around the backyard, so I was a bit worried about finding a reliable, skilled person who would do this small job (replacing the gate and a few feet of fencing). My childhood friend Shlomo came in town. Shlomo, one of those peace-loving, good vibe types who "wakes in the morning like a lion", noticed my broken fence and said we could fix it. At first I thought we should probably leave this to the professionals. (I know my way around a toolbox like I know my way around a vagina.) But Shlomo disagreed heartily, WE COULD DO IT! Since Shlomo had mad karma, who was I to step on his toes? Shlomo picked up a sledge hammer and proceeded to whack away at the pole to move the two gates closer to each other. Suddenly, Shlomo whacked the pole and it snapped RIGHT IN HALF! We looked at each other in a long moment of silence. Shlomo was taking in the ruin of my fence, pondering it, simmering in it. Finally, a big wide smile stretched across his face and he said: "I'm not going to let this ruin my weekend!" And he gaily sauntered off. Of course, in my head, I'm all like "What the shit, man! You ruined my fence! At least let it ruin 10 minutes of your weekend!" But, alas, I am afraid of confrontation so I went back inside and fixed Shlomo a PB&J. (His favorite.) So now I had to call someone to come fix my fence, something I was not looking forward to. I called a fence company who referred me to Around Atlanta Fence. Well, let me tell you, I called that phone number and a man named Tony answered and from that point on all of my wildest dreams regarding fencing began to come true! When I moved into my new house I unlatched the chain link from the post so I could fit my chicken coop into the new backyard. Apparently the chain link was pulled to the post by a steroid-filled hulk because no amount of tugging, pulling, or leaning could stretch the the link back to the post. Accepting defeat, I finally started calling around to get quotes. This was a simple repair not an installation, construction, or anything particularly serious or difficult. However all the people I talked to that got great ratings on Yelp were asking WAY more than Around Atlanta Fence. Normally this would be a red flag preluding shoddy service that would make me think, "You get what you pay for." However, Around Atlanta Fence was FAR FAR FAR from shoddy! I spoke to Tony several times as I tried to make time in my crazy schedule to meet him. I live in Stone Mountain and he works all over the place so he was super flexible and patient. We finally picked an afternoon that I could fit him in between appointments. He quoted a VERY affordable price and agreed to go to the house to do the work and I'd meet him at the end to pay him. I got there and he added a foot of fencing and explained why I wasn't able to make the old stuff fit b/c it was too short and had broken a connecting attachment when I took it off the post. He replaced the broken piece and added fencing for NO CHARGE! He wasn't irritated that the job was a little more than I was aware of at the time we scheduled it. Nor did he up-charge for the additional work or supplies. He was friendly, polite, and pleasant. I asked for his manager's name so I could give some positive customer service feedback. The accountability is amazing. They actually come when they say and stay as long as they can. Since it was raining a lot, they even worked when they could in the rain and made up for lost time by working New Years Day and on Saturday and Sunday! They worked quickly and impeccably. We have three gates and each one is made so nicely and is quantum leaps better than what we had. He explained to me how if you make a gate right with the right placement of nails, etc., then you don't have to add all these two by fours that my old heavy gate had. And we asked for him to clear some logs that were near the fence from our fallen tree that were not part of the job and he did it -- because why not go the extra mile, he explained, when you put so much into it already. I'm pleasantly surprised to find a truly excellent, easy and professional experience getting a repair done to my 1979 chain link fence that multiple other companies drug their feet, refused the job, hem-hawked around, never called back or price-gouged because they weren't interested in helping me. No, I don't want a whole new acres of fence for this obscured back wooded area. No, I don't want to wait 3-4 weeks. No, I don't want $1,000 minimum trip charge. When my husband and I moved into my new house, getting a fence put up to contain our two pups was our first priority! I called about 15 different fence companies in the area and ultimately chose Around Atlanta fence because of both price and customer service. The price was competitive (not actually the lowest, but among them) and from the first phone call Tony (the owner) was even more helpful than I could have imagined. He called around to price materials for various types of fence, including obscure colors of vinyl-coated chain link, called me back when he said he would, and answered all of my many questions. He came out for an on-site assessment and his final price was within $30 of his original estimate. Tony and his crew completed 350ish linear feet of 5' vinyl-coated chain link fence in about a day and a half of work, including clearing some very thick brush (that may or may not have had poison ivy in it...). Our property is very hilly and full of landscaping stones, but they did a great job despite the challenge! Even where the land is irregular, the fence consistently goes all the way to the ground, leaving no room to tempt our escape artist dogs. I just had a privacy fence installed in my backyard by Around Atlanta Fence, and I am writing because I am 100% SATISFIED. No, that really doesn't do this company justice. I am 100% ECSTATIC!. First, the price was fair and affordable. It was THE BEST PRICE I got from several estimates. But, really, what you need to know is that you are going to be 100% satisfied as well. The other reviews are completely accurate. I really don't understand how Tony (the owner) has any competition. He and his team are that good. Here's how my experience happened. I called Tony after seeing the other reviews on Yelp. He responded right away, and came out with a member of his team, Marcus, to evaluate the job. Both Tony and Marcus were exceptionally courteous and patient, and went over the options with me (which are pretty much any design you can think of; they have many pictures of all the different fences they have done, and they have done many). When I say patient, I mean patient, because my property had A LOT of bamboo (which they handled in short order when starting the job), a diagonal grade, and since I have a few dogs, a few dog mines as well; it's terrain that frustrates me. Well it didn't frustrate them. After going over the project with me, I selected what I wanted, a double-gated privacy fence. Then, Tony set up another meeting with me to go over the estimate again and make certain that I was happy with the plan (he didn't have to do that but that's the kind of guy Tony is - he isn't happy if you're not happy, but there's no way you're not going to be happy). In any case, we scheduled the date for the work; it was a two-day job, and I still can't figure out how these guys executed ABSOLUTE PERFECTION on this fence, on my wicked crazy terrain in just two days. They showed up and were just a pleasure to be around. I truly enjoyed talking with them. And Tony, Marcus, and Randy (also just an incredibly nice guy), I want you to know I definitely appreciated getting to know you and watching you do your craft. When the work was complete, Tony did a quality control run (actually, he did a lot of quality control runs at each phase of the project, not that it was necessary given the professionalism and mastery his team has, but Tony has a personal drive toward perfection, that is mirrored in the motivation of his team.) And the work speaks for itself. It's fantastic, beyond fantastic. The team is great, the leadership is great, THE WORK IS SECOND TO NONE. We even did a dog test with my dogs, and there is no way they're escaping that fence. Also, it looks great, and really makes the back yard feel secure and larger.
