We went into the store after and it had a wide variety of guns, holsters, ammo, cases, bags, etc. the employees in the shop were very nice but the guy working the range desk was very rude and seemed very irritated that there were people who wanted to go into the range. Gave this shop a call to check if they had a 10/22 in stock for my father as a Christmas present for himself. Mind you we live about an hour away. I am 19 and this 22lr was for my father so I was not going to be purchasing this item. we get in the shop and the skinny dude with a ponytail greets us and we ask to look at the 22 in question, we take a look and it's all nice and good to go and the man asks "well if this is your rifle and since you asked over the phone about it we will have to run your information to purchase this gun" my father makes it very clear that this gun isn't for me. Just because I handled it for a moment and called to see if they had it in stock they wouldn't let him purchase it... don't know what kind of backwards place this is but I'd recommend going anywhere else in the area, fortunately we went down to academy and they gave us no trouble. Typically these little mom & pop shops are great and is where we choose to shop at but I'd just skip over this place. I'd really suggest management at this facility check with your staff as this was extremely unprofessional and honestly surprising. read more

The worst gun store I've ever been to in my life. Workers are "know-it-alls", have little knowledge on most things firearm related. They told me that the higher end stuff was ceap and to buy their cheap low quality brands. They were selling a maverick 88 pump for the almost same price as a new one. Came here a few times. Bought a Glock 17 Gen 5 (came with a case, tools and info, and a total of 3 magazines- 17+1) and a light attachment from them. The process was so quick and easy. You fill out a form as they run your ID through background check and boom, just like that, you pay for it and they bag your stuff. They have a variety of weapons and accessories and for a decent price. They have tons of ammo. There's a small section in the handgun sections that I missed on discounted Glocks for Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs). I wished it was mentioned to me first because I would've saved about $80-$90, buuuut I already paid for my firearm so it's too late (lesson learned). They have a firing range which I have yet to experience, but the prices appear to be cheap. You can fire your own rounds or buy theirs, and you can rent their guns. The staff are so knowledgable and friendly. There's a decent sized parking lot and please remember to not pull your weapon out while in the store unless you want to be lit up by the armed staff there. read more

I bought a gun from them. I shot it twice, the third round jammed. Took it to them to get it fixed. The person "manager" took it apart, then handed me all the parts in a bag and told me he didn't know how to fix it and referred me to a fella in Waller. I asked if another local business could help me figure it out and his words were "no, we don't trust them". Do WHAT? Well that was exactly what I did and shocker..... THEY FIXED IT in less than ten minutes! Beyond trying to discredit another local business, telling me that I must have broken it in two shots, he took it apart and didn't put it back together as when I came in. I am giving one star because I can't give none. My husband and I went into Champions to buy a rifle. We had interactions with 3 different salespersons. They were all arrogant, very rude and acted like we were a bother to their workday. My husband owns over 50 guns and is no dummy to firearms, however they talked down to him, smirking at his inquiries and very cocky. If the owner/ manager chooses to hire young people, he either needs to reconsider or teach them some social skills. It was a horrible experience and we walked out. read more

I just called to ask them if I could have an extension. I had to come up with 15,000.00 to get my roof fixed because of hail and water damage. I walked in with the intent of walking out with a pistol. Literally one of the easiest sales they could have made because I already knew what I wanted (a Gen. 3 Glock 23). However, when I asked to look at one the sales rep. continually insisted that, that is not what I wanted only trying to up-sell me into something else. I get the salesman side, but I felt like I was in a used car lot. I KNEW what I wanted to buy, he cash in hand, and the guy STILL tried to push me into another fire arm. Needless to say, I left without anything due to frustration and purchased the firearm that I wanted, elsewhere. Fast forward a couple of days and now I need an ITWB holster. I went back to Champion, I guess the sales guys recognized me because I was ignored until I asked for direction on some different holster options they had, which I broke down and got a CompTach ITWB kydex holster. Within 24 hours one of the set screws for the belt clip backed out, so I went in to ask if they could help me out, which as other reviewers have mentioned, my problem was "shrugged off". In short, thanks guys, for absolutely nothing. I went back to the other company that I purchased my firearm through and they replaced the screw at no cost to me. In the midst of a college-town that loves, adores, and cherishes its gun rights stands Champion Firearms. Forget about the need for experience, or even credibility. Everyone is presumed an able shooter as long as you say you are -- which makes this place great. As long as you're not an idiot, you can come here and have some fun for a relatively cheap price. The selection of firearms for the range isn't huge, but it's certainly enough. Great place to visit for small groups and dates. My friend and I came here to rent a few guns buy the corresponding ammo and rent a lane. Overall we ended up waiting 15-20 minutes on a Saturday so it wasn't bad at all. Very quick service and the staff was helpful with filling out forms and informing us of everything we needed in order to be in the range. Unfortunately my friend and I had come a few months earlier and got turned away due to not having any prior shooting experience, but I hear they do have a class available by request outside of normal hours to get that experience as needed. Shot a kimber 1911 45acp and Glock 17 9 mm and had no malfunctions or issues with either gun. Only issue my friend and I had was probably spending 15 minutes at the beginning just trying to figure out how the target range system worked. It's a little nuanced so maybe ask staff before going in; they have a sing posted above each system so follow that but if you have any issues for anything more than 5 minutes I would say just go ask. read more

I went to Champions with my girlfriend who until then had never held a pistol, and they were more than helpful! The staff helps you get acquainted with the guns in a safe fun way. We got to see every model that I was interested in, and they were super cool with me "just looking." The gun range was awesome, affordable, and safe. We shot a Glock 19 and a Berretta M9A1 and went through two boxes of ammo. We got a zombie target and put 30 rounds through it's head. They have a really nice set up store. The employees were really helpful. The guys running the rental part were really good. I ended up renting 5 guns. One recommendation is that the rental guns were really hard to see to pick out, maybe have pictures and lists to pick from. The rental prices were very reasonable. They did have some oddball rules. Great Location in the city. The options to rent and fire as many pistols is impressive. The price is good and the staff is friendly. I've only used the range and I have to say I disagree with allowing children in the range. Kids can become distracted and roam into another lane causing startling distracting possibly injuries. I probably went during the heaviest hours, the amount of shells on the floor to a first timer can be dangerously unsafe. A cease fire! clean up your area and dispose of trash and an empty waste can is in order here. A pistol range must practice the most highest safety requirements for the safety of others. read more

Have to say I am pretty disappointed with Champions in my most recent experience. I went to pick up a LC9 there a few months back. I had been watching them on their website and email the sales team there. They were out of them when I arrived. I had a conversation with the counter individual and he said they update the website to the inventory daily. At the time the price was a reasonable price. Within $10-25 or two other suppliers in the central/southern Texas area. Finally they got the product in and I received an email confirming the price to me. I called to place the order and was informed that the price they told me in the stores months ago, the price on the website and the price in the email to me were wrong and the price was actually 12% higher. The salesman asked the store manager twice to make sure they wouldn't honor the price and they said no. So the price is now about 5-10% higher than some of the other dealers in the area. It's hard to believe that it has been a 'honest mistake' for four months. Interesting in that they didn't even attempt to work with me. It was here is the higher price - take it or leave it. So I will end up buying it elsewhere. Really disappointed in Champions. I've thoroughly enjoyed coming into this store every time. Unlike other gun stores, Champion employees greeted me immediately upon entering and were very helpful despite me telling them that I didn't plan on buying that day. I've utilized their indoor firing range multiple times. The store and firing range are both very clean and well organized. The owner conducted the CHL course very thoroughly and treated everyone with respect and didn't make anyone feel stupid for asking questions. My boyfriend and I visited champion for the first time this evening. It was a great experience! The range was really nice, spacious lanes, good prices, $5 rental can't beat that, you have the option of spot lighting your target which was cool we've never seen that! My boyfriend bought a pistol from their shop, called before we drove up from Houston and they held the gun he wanted for him.
