Don't Bother! I called this man to come and refinish my floors and he postponed 3 times on me…read more(that's 3 weeks of waiting). I should have known ahead of time because he postponed coming to my house to quote on the job. I even had to call him for a quote. To start he told me the job would only take a couple of days. After coming to my house again I was told it would take 3-4 days, okay no problem I must've misunderstood. When I spoke to him again (after he postponed the 2nd time) he told me the job would be a full week. Again not a problem, I wanted him to do a good job on my floors and we would arrange ourselves in the house to give him the time he needed. Honestly, I understand that he was probably busy and we were going on vacation so I thought I'd be nice to go along with his schedule. The night before he was supposed to show up I texted him to confirm and I got another excuse about how it would be better to start the following week. Again I accepted that he was busy and allowed him to postpone. Today he was supposed to show up at 7:30 and he blamed being late on the weather. He explained in his text message that told his men to show up at 9:30 but the roads were bad and he can come by at 10. Remember he was supposed to show up at 7:30 and he's giving me another excuse! At this time I told him to forget it I called someone else. I'm not sure what type of job he would have done but waiting 3 weeks for someone to come and do a job is too long. Plus I just don't trust someone who feels that wasting my time is okay. Remember I'm paying him and his quote wasn't cheap. If Donald told me that he had other jobs and he couldn't come until later in the month I would have gladly agreed to schedule when he was free. However he didn't do that and left me with no other choice than to find someone else.

After agreeing to the proposal, there was no further contact with the owner during the many weeks leading up to the job. Then an emergency caused him to put off the 4-day job from a Friday to a Saturday. He called again on Saturday and said he was sorry but he'd have to start on Monday. Problem was, I was leaving on vacation that day and had planned everything around being able to let the workers in, stick around to make sure all was well, and leave a key for a neighbor to let them in the remaining days. This plan went all to hell. My neighbor reported no activity during my week away, and when I got back they still had to come in two more times. They left splashes of varnish on a tile floor, and there are still lap marks and streaks from applying the varnish incorrectly. They even put down the wrong color in one spot and had to remove and reapply. I had used another refinisher in the past, but I felt they were rude and didn't respect me as a past customer, so I sought out Personal Touch. True, they were at least competent at the start, and the workers couldn't have been nicer. Except for those mistakes and snafus, the floors really do look great. The problem was the emergency that threw off the schedule, which caused them to rush. Still, if I need floor refinishing again, I will go back to the rude guys. At least their work was mistake-free and was completed in the agreed-upon time frame.

Also - there is very little transparency in the organization. One phone number, have never been able to speak to a supervisor, etc. I had a reclaimed and sentimental piece of marble that was local to the business and I paid top dollar for Marbleworks to pick it up and cut it into two pieces, finish the surfaces and edges and deliver the pieces to me in NYC. They warned me that there were oil stains and I understood. The price included "installation" and mine weren't being installed, but when I questioned it (neither was a countertop) they said that delivery counted as "installation" ... I agreed to the price. BUT they delivered the pieces rubbing up against each other with nothing in between the raw pieces and the largest piece was delivered with a huge -- though not super deep -- scratch -- and the smaller piece was significantly less "shiny" than the larger and with smaller scratched and like it hadn't been cleaned or as polished as the larger. I withheld the balance (about 39% of the total) until the scratches were removed -- it seemed if they WERE installing a countertop they would've done a better job of leaving me with better surfaces. They insisted on a certified check for the balance. I spend $$$ on cancelling a check, getting the certified check and to buy tarps since they'd now be doing the work in my apartment. The first appointment they gave me to fix the scratch they called the day before to reschedule. Okay. The second appointment I waited all day for them to come and at the end of the day they told me they got held up and could not come. I was upset and I told them I needed a first appointment and waited weeks until that appointment could happen. Unfortunately, when they showed up the workmen were told by my building that I needed a COI - Marbleworks did not inform me of this possibility (it seems they should if they know their business) and I was unaware myself. I sent them the sample COI within minutes but was told it would take time for the COI (which, if they had a relationship with their insurance company, should be fast, no?) that the workmen wouldn't wait AND that if I wanted them to come back I would have to pay them an additional $750 on top of what I owe them. I was sorry about the COI issue an will own my ignorance BUT it seemed to me we were even, since I was stood up once and accommodated weeks of rescheduling, and delays - not to mention bad work in the first place. I told them I'd be willing to wait until it was convenient for Marbleworks to get back to the city (vs. insisting on first appointment, etc.) but they said they have no plans to deliver back into the city unless I pay them $750. So they will not accommodate me in any way to fix their shoddy work no matter what my concessions are - without charging me more $$$. They have no interest whatsoever in making this very polite, very patient customer happy - by fixing their shoddy work to begin with. Since I have had no customer satisfaction, I am not going to pay the balance but am instead looking into local marble repair companies. While my sales contact was unfailingly polite, he is so great at stonewalling that I'm guessing he is being incentivized on making me go away and/or pay more $$$ than actually creating a happy customer. I'm looking at beginning a renovation in the next year and I would not deal with them again.

After the worker, George, took old countertop with sink out, I noticed wall damages. I wanted to fix it but he said "I can cover it. I did it many times" the result? See pictures. He couldn't place brackets on one corner of under mount sink due to holes on countertop for brackets were in wrong places. 3 days later, chalk between countertop and under mount sink started to melt. See the picture. I had to apply waterproof chalk by myself in order to prevent further damages. The company offered me to finish waterproof caulking. But looking at their finished low quality work, I declined her offer. The company wrote a long defensive email saying they delivered a high quality work. Their high quality work and my standard have a huge gap. I had to spend more money and labor to fix their work and placing brackets to secure under mount sink. I regret not researching about this company's reviews.

After recently purchasing our first home, we needed someone to build a kitchen on the rental floor and were struggling to find someone consistent who came as highly recommended as Jhonny did. Here is a list (in no particular order) of all the reasons Jhonny deserves 10 out of 5 stars and why you should consider him for your future contracting needs. 1) Responsible - Jhonny was ALWAYS on time. And by on time, I mean he arrived 15 -20 minutes before the scheduled start time in order to look for parking and drop off all materials. 2) Clear communication - Jhonny gave an honest and transparent explanation of what he could and could not do. He gave us day-by-day updates on the project as it progressed. He would go out of his way to accommodate not just what we needed, but little touches that he thought might make the final product look and function that much better. 3) Good Record-Keeping - Jhonny provided us with a detailed invoice at the start of the project and upon giving him a downpayment he e-mailed us an updated invoice that recorded the remaining total and confirmed receipt of the money. 4) Problem solver - Most contractors do what you ask them to do and leave. Jhonny works collaboratively with you and even offers up suggestions about how to make adjustments that could help with pricing/function/visual appeal. 5) Safety - Jhonny consistently wore his mask throughout the two weeks we worked together and with the exception of one weekend where he brought someone to help him finish the painting, he was the only person that entered our space. He is someone you can trust in your home and there is no price tag that can be placed on that peace of mind. We are already planning our future home projects with Jhonny. He's coming back in January for a door and closet shelving installation. This man is worth every penny he charges. Get on his calendar as soon as you can. He books up quickly, as he should.
